Hopefully they keep the same open sandbox multiplayer world they had in IV since that was the main reason me and co kept playing it months after the versus games got annoying.

I've enjoyed every GTA up until now for it's own unique reasons, so I'm pretty sure this one won't disappoint.

It seems it's only going to be Los Santos, according to Rockstar's official announcement, although they don't say ONLY Los Santos,

This has dampened my enthusiasm abit, as San Andreas was by far my favourite GTA, because of the multiple cities and areas inbetween,

If it was only going to be one city, personally i would have chosen Vice City to rerurn to, rarther than just a part of San Andreas.

No they couldn't. Do you seriously think they could include the whole of San Andreas at the level of detail GTA IV had? San Andreas managed it because it was so incredibly sparsely detailed.

Lazy. Lazy as [censored] skimping out by only including Los Santos. At least we have SR3.

Saints Row 3 is also limited to one city, and doesn't have countryside. I don't see how it is less 'lazy' in that respect.

This is Rockstar. Not Volition. With their budget and their experience, this is lazy.

They've done multiple cities like once. And they where all quite small in comparison to IVs city.
Personally I'd rather see more interiors than countryside, they haven't done much interesting interiors outside of missions.

Like I said in my post at the end of.last.thread. "more detail" does not make up for smaller scale. They already had the city made for them by the LA Noire team too.

You really think they copied the city over? I mean seriously, you honestly believe what you just said?

After the Terry Pratchett thread I really think Rockstar should expand their horizons.

Just give this one a thought:

Grand Theft Auto: Ankh-Morpork.

Eh? Eh? :deal:

Small in comparison to IV? San Andreas was much bigger. At least it felt bigger. IV had no where near the variety of San Andreas in terms of locales.

Also, i'll repost this since it was right before the last thread was locked. Completely agree with hunter2121...

Lol the series was more cartoonish before GTAIV. The only things that were good about GtA were the new physics engine and a really great depiction of New York City. Missions were boring lacking any of the uniqueness that SA or VC had. There were no side missions or customization. And in my opinion its a load of horse[censored] that they reduced the scope of the game to allow for more detail. It was really a dull game once you got past its coat of shiny paint.

You mean Team Bondi? An entirely separate company? Right, I'm sure Obsidian made the map for Skyrim too.

Alright, let me explain this better for you.

- Size
- Quality
- Wait five more years

Pick one.

This is Rockstar, so of course they'll pick quality. There can only be these choices because current consoles are still an inhibiting factor. You have to make compromises between quality and quantity. GTA IV went for quality. Just Cause 2 went for quantity. It's not like Rockstar's developers are lazy or something, it's that they can't put any more content in without utterly overwhelming the capabilities of current consoles.

Liberty City was big enough for me in GTA IV, and it contained an impressive amount of detail. GTA V will have even more detail, quite frankly I don't know how it will even run on current consoles. Even if it's not as big as San Andreas, no one with a sensible head should care.

As Dan Houser http://www.next-gen.biz/features/building-liberty-city?page=2 about GTA IV:

“It’s the biggest city we’ve ever built, but not the biggest area. If the difference from GTA2 to GTAIII was 2D to 3D, then this time it was low-def to hi-def. What that meant was detail.”

The number of man-hours goes up for every game. If you want a big sandbox and don't care about the rest of it, play Minecraft.

I doubt I'd get this if it was just Los Santos. I was hoping for a Las Venturas redepiction. I hated Los Santos, and spent most of my time in SF or LV, so I guess this GTA will be one that I sit out.

If anything GTA IV was the most ambitious game in the series since GTA 3. I found Liberty City in GTA IV so much more interesting and full of character then all of San Andreas or Vice City, it felt like a real city. They also have no reason at all to change the formula back to SA's, GTA IV is one of the top three highest reviewed games ever and when it came out it was also the highest grossing game ever.

To all of the people worried about GTA V just being in Los Santos. Both GTA 3 and GTA IV were set in Liberty City and it's completely different in both games and from what I've heard, LA is a pretty damn big city.

I don't see how this is so hard for you to understand. It is simply not possible to build an area the size of San Andreas with the level of detail from GTA IV.

It will be Los Santos and the surrounding countryside only. http://www.gameinformer.com/games/grand_theft_auto_v/b/xbox360/archive/2011/11/02/gta-v-dissecting-the-trailer.aspx If you look at any of the screen grabs, the improvement from GTA:SA smacks you in the face. There's little point to "space" that has nothing in it.

If they have playable golf I will be very pleased.

I wonder how they will block off parts of the map until you progress through the story; LA doesn't have any bridges to block.

Wait, maybe they won't block off parts of the map, like Chinatown Wars.

Over on the GTA forums, there is mass disappointment about splitting San Andreas up, and i'm one of them, it doesn't matter how good Los Santos is done, it will still feel like a 3rd of SA, and as someone posted over there "i'd rather a full Vice City, than a half assed San Andreas",

San Andreas is the 3rd best selling game of all time according to wiki, so GTA 4 sales make no difference to the viewpoints of GTASA fans, i'll still play V, but it won't be the same.

You're not getting a half assed San Andreas. You're getting a full Los Santos.
