hardcoe Mode Thread #1

So you have to go find a toilet just to take a piss/crap? What happened to the cowboy way? To me, the world is your toilet.

Welcome to the Mojave, where the world is your toilet! Piss in Lake Mead! Head on down to one of our fine casinos and take a crap on the craps table! It's all here for you to enjoy... :P

Yeah, in a couple recent interviews they've said you can turn it on and off at will. Turning it off at any time = no Achievement.

Second playthrough for me, the only thing is can you imagine how great it would be if you don't know the map playing hardcoe. Thats the only problem with playing hardcoe second playthrough I will know where to get easy water and food.

Exactly why I am going to play hardcoe on my first playthrough.

I'll try it first play through, because my first play through is always the most thorough, it'll also make it last longer.

Exactly, its the whole "take as you see it and react" on first playthrough thats very immersive, hardcoe Mode adding to that makes it all the more memorable.

Is it possible to choose "hardcoe mode" (ammunition have weight, main character needs to eat and sleep...), and also turn to easy and normal, while playing in hardcoe mode?
So, is that "hardcoe mode" a separate thing from the how hardness is in defeating the enemy?
If yes: is it official or your supposition?

I need to know it becouse it's decisive thing for me about choice buying it at day one, or not! :)

(I'm sorry for my bad english! ) :P

Thx for your help!

The only thing I am concerned with is the starvation, dehydration, and exhaustion, mostly because of the frequency we will have to attend to these. If this game was on a real time 24 hour cycle it wouldnt be a huge deal, but are we going to have to worry about this every 30 minutes or something?

The hard core mode is much like the RI_Needs mod for Fallout 3. I would never play with out it. Defiantly a first playthorugh for me.

I don't think i'm getting a companion anymore. They don't die without HCM? How ridiculous is that?
Then again, ah, contradicting myself is no fun.

Oh hey someone bumped my topic.

hardcoe Mode is separate from difficulty yes, but with stims healing over time and the (unconfirmed) rarity of doctors bags for cripples makes combat more dangerous

Isn't all healing overtime?

we are not.

i know nothing about it and yet i will confirm it.

NVPD doesn't take kindly to public urinating.

I think they have bigger things to worry about. Though i can imagine: "Stop right there criminal scum! You have violated the law, and this innocent bush."

Anyway, as i have said it'll be interesting to see the official take on the "primary needs" mod. It adds a whole new level of survival and "immersion" (even if i dislike that word) to the game. Also that you can't just stick a stimpack between your eyes and keep shooting.

That's how "essential" people behaved in Fallout 3 and Oblivion, they go unconsious for 10 seconds and then revive and continue fighting.

why woul your companions become essential on normal mode, and non-essential on HC mode?

This topic is about hardcoe Mode, not companions .
Your question has already been answered, they die in hardcoe but not in Casual.

Question: I will be playing hardcoe Mode on first playthrough like a lot of you, but as I did in Fallout 3, I will be turning off crosshairs, anyone else?

That's a good question. Maybe they'll adjust the timescale to something like 5 or 10 for hardcoe mode. Or another option, I've got at least one mod that uses the scaled gametime for one aspect and realtime for another. Maybe that's the way they went (though I hope not, I've gotten requests to put multipliers into my needs mod that would let you use it with any timescale, but turned them down, I don't like the idea of things getting out of sync.) I'm also wondering if hardcoe mode will make needs mods more popular - I'm sure more people will end up playing with hunger/thirst/sleep now that its part of the vanilla game, and they'll probably want to tweak some aspects of it.

If we mod the game into a real time scale, will all the features that take a set amount of seconds/minutes be scaled as well? The food/water/sleep is obvious, but my thoughts are the stimpacks and other healing features. 1 RL hour for a stimpack to work for example.

no crosshairs for sure!
