hardcoe Mode Thread #1

does it matter how long we sleep, like can i just sleep for an hour and be ok or do i have to go for an eight hour rest?

Don't think that's been confirmed yet but I would like it if the longer we sleep the higher the bar goes.
Meaning if you sleep for 1 hour you only get -10% sleep off of the sleep meter. /speculation.

That's a good question. Maybe they'll adjust the timescale to something like 5 or 10 for hardcoe mode.

By the HP bar there will pop up a "SLP" text for when you need to sleep.
At first it will be green I think, that means it's going to be a while before you need to sleep.
Then it's going to turn yellow which means you should probably finish up what you're doing and go to sleep.
Then it will turn red which means "GO TAKE A DAMN NAP!!!!" :)
Oh and the same for water, starvation, radiation and limb damage.

Endurance debuff.

And I think you fall unconscious sooner or later.

Ha. I wish you just fell over and passed out. Risking being killed.

Not trying to be morbid but falling unconscious is a death sentence in the wasteland.

Not necessarily. What if, for example, in Fallout 3, you were in good with the Brotherhood of Steel and you fell asleep upon entering the camp. You'd be alright. Or if you passed out in a vacant Vault. That kind of thing. I'd just like it if the game went to a cut scene if you passed out and you might or might not get killed.

Unconciousness could break the game for people eg: You are going to kill the FINAL BAWSS and suddenly fall unconscious right before you enter his chamber, oops text square saying you died. Just have sudden major decrease in every STAT, causing overencumberance, if you die, meh.

True, but they could code the game where if you are entering a place/finishing a quest you will not pass out. I don't know. Either way, it doesn't happen, so I'll live with whatever hardcoe mode has to offer. I'll be playing in this mode from day one without turning it off, for sure. Can't wait!

Ok I just read a post from a credible poster on the Xbox forums that he knows a guy that has the game already and says that hardcoe mode isn't available on the first playthrough, you have to unlock it or something.

Any truth to this? As I trust you guys more than over there.

I know that in Fallout 3 for PC you can change the speed of time progression with a console command....maybe I will have to do that with NV too.

Has it been confirmed whether or not we are forced to go to the bathroom with HCM?

Only if you're thirsty and there are no other water sources nearby. :D

Ammo weight sounds like it would make you face tough decisions when scavenging.

Everything else seems like it would be a nag/nuisance more than adding to "immersion" sleeping is trivial, press the sleep key then wait 2-3 seconds while your character "sleeps". The radiation thing / crippled limb sounds like it would nag me to death...

I was hoping for more, but then again no one knows it all yet. Maybe some other things will be involved that will make it truly "hardcoe". Have to wait another 6-7 hours to see I guess :fallout:
