Okay, I know some threads seem weird since the game isn't even out yet but this one takes the cake.
We have no way of knowing how long it'll take for dehydration to kick in and what it's effects will be.
So this thread is 1 month ahead of itself.

Oh come on.. it's fun! :fallout:

That deathclaw? You know it's dead when it's tail stops twitching.

You? You know you're dead when you can hear your shottie going 'click click click'.

That deathclaw? You know it's dead when it's tail stops twitching or your combat shotguns empty... Whichever comes first.

Something is wrong with your tip...
You know YOU are dead when your combat shotgun's empty.

Always remember, you need different guns for different situations.
Carry always a knife for close quarters combat.
A shotgun for mid-range enemies.
A rifle for enemies that are far away. (Not necessary if you are carrying slug shot ammo for your shotgun)
Instead of a rifle in case you have slug shot, carry a pistol.

I'm certainly going to do alot more:
Scouting
Talking.

In FO3 runnin-n-gunnin was almost always the easiest and most interesting way of completeing quests. Now that combat and prolonged quests are going to be infinately harder (stims don't insta heal, and you can't heal from sleeping) actually trying to figure out what you'll be up against, or just trying to talk to people will go along way to actually surviving.

I'm really excited for hardcoe because it stresses more of a survival role play rather than a shoot-em-up roleplay, which I feel is closer to Fallout's true path.

hardcoe mode hasn't just added difficulty, it's made just killing people less desireable as the most efficent solution. Actually trying to talk to people and sneaking, and taking care of yourself are better routes.

Did you not read what i wrote below it. I know this thread is a month earlie but these are tips we know were gonna need. I will change any tip that is off.

Still not a useful thread IMO since we don't know how the new mode fully work.
Only tips I can think of is: Instead of just checking out a weapon/ammo vendor and a doctor you will also need to stop by a restaurant to stack up on food and water.
Try to remember where bodies of water are in the wasteland.
Try to remember where certain animals are more prone to spawn.

Not so much one can suggest.

Oh come on.. it's fun! :fallout:

Well, people have different perspectives on fun. :)

Learn, adapt, improve. If killed, make sure to have back up save files and learn from the mistakes.

If it can't be killed, then just run as fast as possible, heal and try again when you're stronger.

Charging in guns blazing is the sure fire way of a quick death, think tactics, think Sun Tzu and maybe you'll stand a better chance.

Use common sense, it can be a good ally.

I don't know, it wouldn't quite work. However, if I can use the hide to craft armor and clothes and sell them later then I am happy :)

Follow the waterways, if any and plan your route according to it.

Plenty of water to stay hydrated and pssible to see waterside communities.
