Are they though? I always assumed this too, but I honestly don't know anymore. There was a recent interview with Todd Howard I am trying to find in which he states something to the effect that people do not want a bunch of new dungeons to go through, that is not the way to support Skyrim. So is this what they think people want? Are we actually going to get a big expansion or two?
You want a real quote? How about when Todd Howard stated that Skyrim DLC was going to be "meaty" and that the DLCs for Skyrim would have substance to them. Dawnguard barely cleared that bar in my personal opinion and Hearthfire doesn't even hold a candle to Dawnguard.
To be fair, it is cheaper and it obviously appears to be an outgrowth of stuff from GameJam, which is fine. However, this isn't something that should be prioritized when it comes to dlc. I hope they are working on something bigger and better for future dlc, and I understand if they are trying to put stuff together to keep people interested in the game while they do, but you have to understand no one is going to look on this and be content with how basic this dlc is. Chalk this up to the crafting craze in these games I guess. I mean hell I'm already an alchemist, a blacksmith, and an enchanter now I have to be a carpenter too? What really blows is this dlc is so basic, I mean we can already buy houses in the game, so they are trying to add incentives to being able to build your own house, like all these little add ons and other stuff. I think they are seriously overlooking the biggest boon to buying a house in this game, and that is having a storage location that is also close to SHOPS. If my house is out in the middle of nowhere, I can't exactly sell things.
I don't know... I really want them to show support for improving upon what Dawnguard has broken as well as fixing some annoying bugs now present in the vanilla version of the game. This isn't getting me excited to play Hearthfire or Skyrim for that matter.
