Hearthfire bugs report. Part 1

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 7:47 am

-Placing a Weapon in the Weapon Rack in the Armory freezes system completely. (Lakeview Manor, only started after Greenhouse was completely furnished)

*****EDIT*****

Now simply being inside of Lakeview Manor for five minutes completely freezes the game.

So I've spent 35 hours Roleplaying a Hunter that I created specifically for Lakeview Manor, yet it's now pointless because I can't enjoy it.

Try removing the workbenches, especially the one in the main hall. It eventually worked out for me. My bug appeared at the same house after finishing the green house too.
But after a few hours of playing, the bug returned, sadly enough.

4- Crafting tables display already built furniture.

Also, sometimes you need the ingredients for a display case e.g. while you get another image next to it, e.g. a chandelier or dresser.

7. When I told Alesan that I would adopt him, he wouldn't leave Dawnstar.I fast traveled to my home but he wasn't there. When I fast traveled back to Dawnstar and I talked to him, all he would say is "Let me say goodbye to everyone and I'll meet you there."

I have the impression Alesan takes a bit longer than the other children to get at your house, but I think he'll get there eventually... Took me a while to get him home too, maybe because I waited some time before I adopted him after Lucia...

Your house comes with one bookshelf unless you have the library wing, I am pretty sure your one bookshelf would work. The display cases open without crashing the game, then they work, put your stuff in there by hand.

I've got a large book case with three working book shelves in the main hall (Falkreath) and no library. My display cases work when I put in the stuff manually, although I had expected that there would have been a better system to put stuff in there for a DLC like Hearthfire where it's all about building and decorating houses. The dagger display cases in Markarth were pretty handy. You couldn't put in anything else but hey, the house was perfect for a stealthy dark brotherhood character anyway, with all the skulls lying around...

On the 360, in the hearthfire house not far from Solitude, I have the armory built, and the mannequins along the wall opposite the doorway, the first and third, are bugged out. No matter what armor I put on them they revert to the very first armors I initially tried out on them. The first mannequin always reverts to the old helmet, and the third mannequin reverts randomly to parts of the first set I put on it. When I load into the house the mannequins also take an inordinate amount of time to spawn, they spawn on teh floor first, then pop-up to their correct places. Also orcish swords do not hand right on any weapon rack, be it a wall rack or a regular sword rack.

In this same house I have the bedrooms built, and the kids books/snowberries always show up on the floor, not the shelves, and the small podium next to my double bed always seems to toss it's books onto the floor.

Also having problems with no Dawnguard weapons except for crossbows being able to be hung on any weapon rack.

In every hearthfire built house no matter how many times I close them the display cases always reopen themselves.

...I would rather the houses just never reset thanks...

^THIS^
Buckets and baskets and bowls, oh my!

2- Can't give Sofie any gifts because it states that it's too heavy. "Stop teasing me"

^THIS^
I have read some reporting no problems with Sofie, and that is a good thing for those players.
Some of us, however, have the above-quoted issue. This bug, for me at least, has only applied to Sofie.
I have experimented and adopted all available children. All have been able to accept gifts...except Sofie.

Might as well join, I guess now is as good a time as any! I've built all three houses fully but with the exceptions of a few things like a bed and chest have only furnished Heljarchen Hall as it's the only house I use, and I've only listed the issues that I haven't been able to fix by re-loading a previous save or any other means.

1. Workbenches show all possible furnishings including ones that have already been bought.

2. Some exterior items like the benches and tables never appear. (Heljarchen Hall).

3. The workbench in the cellar doesn't disappear, and the option to remove it will just come back.

4. Mannequins duplicate armour.

5. The default furnishings for the house respawn after a time, causing any items I've since placed in their location to be thrown across the room. I'm not sure if this is new with Hearthfire but I don't re-call it ever happening with Breezehome or Vlindrel Hall and it is slightly agitating to say the least.

The main issue I have is that general lag, freezes and system lock-ups have become far more common since I downloaded Hearthfire, so if there is another patch that's one thing I really hope they fix.

This might seem strange, but just before you adopted Sofie, did you buy all the flowers off her? I have only adopted her twice so far, without any problems, but always buy all the flowers from her first. Maybe it is the flowers she is still carrying around? None of the other children sell anything, so maybe there is a strange glitch or conflict because of that.

I always adopt Sofie as well, and always buy all her flowers first. no issues whatsoever.

Does each child you adopt bring home a pet? So far only Sofie has, and Blaise has not, and it's been Months in game time since I adopted them both, Sofie brought home the pet pretty quickly, but poor Blaise has nothing.

Yes.
I've tried now with 3 seperate characters,
- All with various questlines behind them.
- All bought all flowers.
- Only my mage build was able to give gifts.
- The other two have the glitch. She isn't over-encumbered, per se, but will not accept gifts because , "The item is too heavy".
- Sofie is glitched and needs to be addressed by the next patch.

Good. I'm glad things went smoothly for you. As I stated in a previous post, some have reported no issues with Sofie.

This does not, however, mean there isn't an issue.
As an example, not every player had the atomic nirnroot bug. But it was a problem for many. It was eventualy addressed in a patch and that is what was needed.
In this current instance, Sofie's ability to receive gifts is glitched for some players. It would be appreciated if this could be looked into and addressed in a future patch.

I started a completely new game and the salmon bug persists.

When I harvest salmon I get no meat, nor roe. No message appears top-left that something is added to my inventory either.
I do get the normal harvesting sound, but that is it.

Edit: For reasons unknown the bug has resolved itself. All salmon is now harvestable and leaping salmon also gives roe.
Possibly its because of building my kitchen on this new character? I dont know.

- Items I have already built reappear in the workbench menu, and until I figured it out I made the same table like four times (minor).
- I'm told that this bug, which takes place in Dawnguard, is because of Hearthfire so I'll put it here: can't reed Blood or Sun Elder Scrolls to complete Unseen Visions quest, cannot continue Dawnguard questline. (Major).

Hmm, I forgot about those cases. I thought the devs just forgot to add the activators. At least I'm not having too many freezing issues...yet.

Another bug: The manikins in the armory aren't showing armor and are sinking into the tables (only the torsos show).
Equipping and unequipping an item like a necklace seemed to fix this for me.

My daughter brought home a fox that then became stuck under the house somehow. You can hear it breathing near the front steps.

I just got hit by the Master Architect Achievement bug, ie I have built all three houses with all three wings + they're all furnished, but I still haven't gotten the achievement :(

Edit: Unfortunately I can't reload before buying the land because that was 20+ hours ago and I'm not willing to lose all that gameplay...

The biggest glitch I've run across is ALL the children everywhere are in their underwear - ever since I installed the HearthFire. Mines PC (not sure if there are other ones out yet), and I choose the home in Falkreath. I adopted Runa, and no matter what clothes I give her, she's either in her underthings or her body becomes invisible. My steward is Lydia, who has not been able to offer me any services as a Steward ie: purchase a cow etc. Is there a patch for the kids clothes at least? Very frustrating.

What has worked before (360, all last month) is to give her just 1 piece of clothing when giving a gift. If that doesn't work, give her just 1 more piece, of a different color.

If that doesn't work, I strongly suspect your unofficial patches or mods have a conflict somewhere.

Xbox 360 version, I brought the house upgrade for Proudspire Manor, now either Hearthfire or Dawnguard has stolen the only cooking pot Proudspire has. I know I never use it, but still would be nice if that could be returned in the next main game patch, or the next DLC.

Edit
I went back and checked before the upgrade for Proudspire was brought, cooking pot was still gone. So just installing the DLC seems to have vanished it. But again I never use it so it could have been Dawnguard that did it.

I fixed it!!! Actually I'm playing the PC version and ALL the kids in Skyrim were in their undies ever since I installed the HearthFire add on. I went into my Steam account, deleted all the online content and re-downloaded Skyrim. When I ran the game - all the kids had their clothes again and I could give Runa clothing that she would wear. I have since adopted Sofia as well, and no problems with her clothing.

You might try re-downloading the game ... it fixed this glitch for me - but mine was only on the PC.
