I have the DLC instaled but havent started building yet because i wanted the plot in folkreth.(is that how you spell it?) but the jarl im my game like others is not giving me quests to do. now im not sure if you have to be a thane to get the land but i have also helped out almost everyone else in the hold and i still dont have the option.

also not sure what caused this but it only happend after i got hearthfire but their are some vampiers in my game that spawn without their clothes and just rags on with no head and are standing compleatly still but still can talk to me. its only happend twice, the first time i killed it and it stayed in midair but i wasent able to loot and the next time i killed it and it droped normaly and i was able to take what i wanted. not sure what was going on but this is the first i have seen that and i havent seen a post on it b4 so was wondering if it has happend to other people.

After building the original house, you can still see the rope and stakes at the front of the house, especially when opening the door to enter in.

Steps to Reproduce:
1) Boot the game,
2) Play normally until becoming a thane of Flakreath,
3) Purchase the property,
4) Proceed to the property and build the house,
5) Build the main manor house,
6) Turn the original house into the entry,
7) Walk over to the front of the original house,
8) Observe that along the bottom of the house you can still see the white rope that was marking off the foundation line,
9) Proceed into the house,
10) When the door opens, observe that right in the middle of the floor, you can see the stake marking the foundation line.

Just started getting this new bug. I don't know if it is caused by Hearthfire, or if it is a base game bug. Every time I load a save, my character starts in different apparel than what I saved wearing. Imagine my surprise when I was involved in combat, and was in some fine clothing I had picked up yet never put on.

My house in the Pale won't let me completely furnish it. I've got all the supplies, will go down the list and select to build it, but then nothing. Some of the items never show up and it takes it off my building list. Or it will duplicate the items I've already built, for example my upstairs beds. and then my list will dissapear (even if i haven't selected to build it yet) like i've completed my list when i haven't. I've got all my supplies, and a half filled house and no way to finish it b/c nothing on my building list is showing up. And its been some time since i've completed it, several "skyrim days". And i've built my other 2 houses without this problem.

Different problems probably already mentioned: Can't put anything in my display cases, in my trophy room i selected a larger spot for a bear, and it put my bear on a little stand intead, so now its in the way. I have no dialog from my husband *Farkas* about my kids. He doesn't comment on them or the property either way, not sure if thats a problem or not, i've seen alot of people say their spouses do though. My housecarl from Morthal still hasn't showed up yet, and its been week a couple "weeks" since thats been done. Thats it so far. Love this DLC aside from the problems, but thats to be expected.

Im not complaining, im just notifying of the several glitches I have encountered since installing Hearthfire;

1. Rooms that are fully furnished still appear as unfurnished on the workbench in the room
2. Equipping an Ebony Shield (which doesn't appear in hand) to place on Weapon Plaque
3. Ancient Nord Helmet wont appear on mannequin in Armoury
4. Unable to 'Activate' Display Cases, except for open/close cases

Will we be able to change the Trophies we have already on display in our Trophy Rooms? I may ge bored of looking at my Dwarven Sphere Trophy and want to change it.

I restarted a new game (no other saves were kept) to play this DLC, so the first place I built a house was Falkreath. Here are a few glitches I've noticed:
-I can't store anything in display cases (no activate button)

-Originally couldn't adopt children, despite having a fully-created bedroom. Was given only the "I've a house, but no room for you" (damn, that's harsh) option. I reloaded the game, and tried again. Worked this time. Not sure what changed between tries.

-Skeevers in my basemant. Okay, maybe this one isn't a glitch, but I still have skeevers in my basemant. They're not disappearing. I finally had to stack them in the blast furnace.

-Things randomly dropping upon entering the house, especially pots. I built this thing myself, so I know it's sturdy (dragons and all that). Not sure why things are randomly dropping.

So far, that's about it. I just finished up my baby yesterday (fully finished). I'm at level 12, so I'm looking forward to continuing with my new house. Bye-bye Breezehome! :D

Lydia has vanished off the face of the planet.I'd had her as my steward for my house in the Pale and after returning there after a few days of working on my other houses she's nowhere to be found.Detect Life spells register Sylgja,Sofie and Lucia and my Pale housecarl who loves to wander...but no Lydia.Never been attacked at my house in the Pale either.

- If chickens get killed by a giant/bandits/whatever, you cannot get your steward to replace them. If the cow or horse dies, your steward can replace them, but not the chickens.

- My wife Ysolda seems to have pathing issues at Lakeview manor. During the day she will go outside and walk along the east side of the house to the point where the entrance meets the main hall. There she will stay until nightfall. Apparently, she's supposed to walk right around the house.

- I've also got the common bug with the carpenter's benches in each room. Items already built may sometimes appear on the list again. Exiting the bench then going back in will fix it (make take a couple of tries).

I had to do the delete-DLC-reinstall thing to get the option to buy the land. I also got the bug with asking the steward to furnish the rooms and them only being part-furnished - it took me a while to realise that might have been a bug rather than really poor design, since I ended up having to craft the beds in the bedroom and a bunch of other stuff, even after asking my steward to do all my furnishing. I also got the problem with items I'd already crafted showing up as options on the crafting workbench.

for those for questioning display cases
you manually put items in the case..not just swords
so you can add other items like rings etc
it is just like oblivion
no action button.. it is not broken

use the A buttom to move stuff into the case
hit the A lightly..

remove=House vanish
Re-in-store = House come back.
So if I delete it and reinstall it before I enter the game, will all my stuff I stored on there be gone, or will the house be there like nothing happened and my stuff will still be inside?

These things are stored in your savegame.
The poster you quoted is wrong.
If you remove the DLC you will not be able to load any savegame that has DLC data on it at all.

If you remove and reinstall the DLC, your savegame should load as normal and all your items should be there.

After doing some experimenting at Lakeview Manor, the spouses actually go there because they're apparently scripted to visit the armory porch during the day at that house. If you don't build an armory, they'll just go to where the stairs would be and get stuck standing there until it's time for them to go inside. If you do have an armory, they'll act as intended. It svcks, because I really like my kitchen. :sadvaultboy:

Oh Bethesda, I do love you and your games, and I can forgive you a lot when it comes to game bugs, as something as open as an ES game will be a nightmare to bug test for, but this many bugs in such a relatively small add-on is just plain silly.

My known bugs so far

No access to Falkreath land (can't buy it)
Grass from land prior to house being built poking through the floor (Morthal area house)

Admittedly, that's not really all that many, but I'm always quite lucky, I never get many bugs in games. Counting how many different ones have been noted throughout this whole thread though........

So far I haven't encountered anything game breaking.
but...
-my bard can't be dismissed
-my dog went to a property I don't own
-some items refuse to stay in weapon racks/display cases
-books sometimes disappear when I interact with a shelf

After my wife, Mjoll the Lioness, was taken for ransom and held in Embershard mine, and after I killed the bandits and freed her:

Whatever direction she faces when the cell loads, that's the direction she will be stuck facing, she no longer fights, draws her weapon/s, but doesn't fight, doesn't take a knee when injured, isn't staggered by sprinting or shouting, nothing. It's highly annoying, and I've tried almost everything. It's like the script to keep her still in the holding cell in the mine is still firing.

I've tried clearing the mine after respawn and picking the lock to the cell instead of using the key, to no avail. I've tried clearing the entire mine of bandits again, nothing. For me, this is a game-breaker, and very much upsetting, as I do not wish to start my game over, but just may. Cannot find anything anywhere about this situation coming up for anyone else, but will continue to do everything I can think of to fix it.

Apparently the Dawnguard wiped out my family and steward while I was away and they've been gone for over 35 in-game days. From the 7th of mid year to the 12th of Years end? and still gone. Not in any of my previous dwellings, I visit white run every day to see if Ria (steward) has reappeared at the companions hall. Nada. And there's no option to get a new steward. Just poof. Gone. I know it was the Dawnguard because there was a Dawnguard war axe on the ground where my family at least got one of them, the other 2 were there waiting to ambush me when I appeared at my house. I killed them, but my horse, cow, chickens, wife, daughter, and steward were all gone. Its really lonely at home now.

Since installing Hearthfire the game has been freezing on me at least once every couple of hours.

But now I can't even play the game.

I am perpetually stuck on the entry landing of my house in Falkreath. I only have that one save where I have just entered the house, and a previous save that would set me back twenty-thirty hours of game playing time.

Conditions existing before this freeze occured:
+ I recently adopted a son. The game appears to freeze the moment he runs to approach me in the entry way.
+ I just completed the necessary quests to become the Thane of Falkreath, and spoke to my new housecarl before fast traveling to the house. I was able to interact one time with my adopted son in the house before becoming Thane without any issue, so I'm not sure if becoming Thane had anything to do with it.
+ Doesn't mater how many times I reload, it always freezes within three seconds of loading into the game now.

Other minor bugs I've observed:
+ my game freezes at the start menu, for about five seconds, after I hit the "start" button on my controler. I've only observed this minor freeze today.
+ display cases don't accept weapons for display (I just read a couple of entries above this one that we are supposed to simply drop items into the display case? I would try this out, but again, my game is perpetually frozen now.)
+ I had one instance where I was on the second level of my house in Falkreath and the area above my greenhouse was open to me as blue sky. I stepped out into it, and then found myself perpetually falling through the air. I did not die, but I was stuck falling until I reloaded.

The bookshelves in the library tower just ate half my book collection (including spellbooks and journals).
I've even tried Jan Hankl's flank pat system but was unable to find them.

I knew this was an issue in early Skyrim but though it would have been fixed if the new DLC is giving you an entire library to store books on shelves.

Unfortunately, I didn't notice the problem until I moved far enough were rolling back to a save where my books existed (on the shelves at least) isn't something I want to do. Besides, there is no guarantee that removing them from the shelves on an earlier save wouldn't still cause them to disappear.

I should have known something was up the first time one the shelves started reporting I could place 13 books on it instead of 11.
