Hearthfire bugs report. Part 1

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 12:32 pm

Removing weapons and shields from weapon/shield plaques are leaving me with no option to put anything back on them. So I essentially have an unusable plaque if I try and remove what I put on there.

Getting REALLY sick of all the supposedly fun stuff breaking now =/

-Placing a Weapon in the Weapon Rack in the Armory freezes system completely. (Lakeview Manor, only started after Greenhouse was completely furnished)

*****EDIT*****

Now simply being inside of Lakeview Manor for five minutes completely freezes the game.

So I've spent 35 hours Roleplaying a Hunter that I created specifically for Lakeview Manor, yet it's now pointless because I can't enjoy it.

Not so much a bug, but something I do not like and do not think is necessary. After a certain period the house resets, leaving all the doors closed, all the display cases you filled open and putting back all the junk you cleaned up. What is the point of wanting us to decorate the place if we have to compete with the junk we did not want there in the first place? You filled the place up with junk and left us hardly any space to decorate if the stuff is just going to keep coming back. I am not bothering to compete with the junk for space. I will just not waste my time decorating. :ermm:

I would rather the houses just never reset thanks. Or at least the junk I removed does not mysteriously return to upset all my decorating.

My house in Falkreath is bugged on XBox 360. I cannot enter it without getting a freeze screen within a minute.
I tried firing my bard as it was always during one of his songs but that didn't help. As long as I stay out my game works.
I had a lot of freeze screens with one of my other characters too. I tried a save from about 10 levels down and that worked for a while, until I reached the level again where the character was bugged. Both characters are archers. I read on the forum that sometimes the saves get to heavy because the game has to remember all the fallen arrows in Skyrim. So maybe this bug can be fixed by making sure all the fallen arrows are removed in the game after 24 hours or so.
But it still doesn't explain why only the Falkreath house is bugged. It's so bugged I can't even just enter to ask my spouse and children to move.
I've tried emptying the cache, deleting the game, patches and add-ons and re?nstalling them but that doesn't fix it either... I've disabled autosave, as sometimes suggested, disabled voice-command and never overwrite saves, always make new ones and delete the old...
Moreover, the screen starts to freeze when in Skyrim too now, only less often...
It's always with archer characters, one around level 27 (only archery), one around level 42 (two-handed and archery).
I hope this bug is fixable cause this way, I'm unable to reach level 50 with an archer.

Children now have no clothes.

I just have to put this here.

hehehehehe

but for me, I found that when building furniture, the option to build stuff you allready built is still there.

I'm not sure, can you have more than one steward? or does the one you own move to a new house with you?

I heard that bandits can break into your home and murder your bard, steward, housecarl, wife/husband....is this true? if so, is it because you haven't outfitted your steward with powerfull weapons? I'd prefer to hire a few guards that can patrol the place.

When my son was walking around in his underpants, I just gave him a set of clothes from his dresser.
He put it on. Problem solved.
I have this other funny bug where my dawnguard axe turns up at the other side of the room when I put it on my weapon rack.
I'm just glad it does not disappear like I sometimes had before.

What is more annoying is when the option for what you want to build vanishes, before you get a chance to build it. I could usually get it back by building what I missed on the list because I did not want to build it. But this time there was no way I was cluttering my armory up with more junk, so I did without one horker trophy on the wall. I could not be bothered making sure I had everything before starting, so the fault is my own, on the fourth attempt to get one character settled with his houses and no glitches, I am getting annoyed.

None of my characters have ever had any human enemies break into the house, only skeevers. And each house should have its own steward, you are asking them to look after and run the house for you.

Bah, get home this morning, download add on. Play. Messenger comes up to me talks and says heres the letter. It even says item added to inventory but letter never shows up in inventory. Restarted several times from earlier save with same result every time. Redownloaded same exact foolishness. They can't even give me the letter in my inventory right?

Hi ... I too just registered so I could promptly report the bugs I have encountered because I LOVE THIS GAME and I've spent so many hours playing it that this latest set of glitches are really annoying me and I don't want to have to start a new character just to get them to work or whatever.

1. First off my biggest issue is I CANNOT BUY THE LAND IN FALKREATH. I know that it is not connected to the joining the dark brotherhood because I didn't join .. I defeated them...and my husband did join them and did all their quests and he bought the land no problem. I have Tekla and Segfried and they are not giving me any quests to do and I was thane prior to this DLC so yeah that's weird. The only thing I think could be the problem is a lot of the citizens have been killed in Falkreath either due ot dragon attacks or the vampires....and so I cannot do any nice things for the people because...most of them are dead.

This really needs to be fixed if anything because this is blocking a major achievement IMO and really does take away from the playability of the DLC.

Also, I was planning on putting a kitchen in my last house because I opted for the Armory and Trophy rooms first cuz they sounded cooler...but the kitchen in the house you build is the ONLY Kitchen in the game where you can make the new baked goods...ie: Pastries and such and so that's totally a bummer that if you don't opt to make a kitchen in any of your houses OR you can't get to buy the House in Falkreath that really limits your options. I think they should upgrade and allow you to redecorate some of your other houses in Skyrim to ADD the oven feature so you can at least bake those items in some of your other houses. I know that seem anol....but to put all that work into those new baked items and have that be the only option where you can actually use that...seems fairly limited to me. So needless to say.... I can't make any of those new baked items. *WHINES* :P

2. Steward won't furnish rooms even if paid.

3. My kid gets naked if I give him new clothes.

4. My kid's pet fox wheezes and that's annoying.

5. My bard gets stuck in the walls!!! O.O

6. My house with a greenhouse... I now have bees flying around!!!

7. Can't milk the cow???!!! This is ludicrus....why have them??? I mean you do need milk for some of your recipes now....(Of which I cannot make *whine*) but still you need to be able to milk the frikkin cow!!

8. Too many bandit, drauger, giant attacks on homes this gets annoying...houses seem to be located in "bad areas" just outside of crypts and giant hang outs... I mean WTF??? You expect me to raise kids in that environment :P

thanks about it....but really I would gladly put up with all those other glitches IF you would please PLEASE PLEASE fix the CANT BUY THE FALKREATH LAND ISSUE. OR provide a work around for this. HELP!!!

1. Workbenches inside the house will show the complete list of items you need to build even though you already built them.

2. Everytime I give an adopted child a new dress, they get naked instead of putting the dress on. This happened to Lucia and Svari.

3. The game would not let me give a gift to Svari.

4. The mannequin upstairs in the main hall will not show armor on it's body. It will only show helmets/hats and boots when you trade it armor or clothing.

5. The option to tell the bard to "Take a break" does not show up in the dialogue options for Oriella or Sonir.

6. When I built 2 benches (that are different than the standard benches) and the round and square tables and chairs that are for the exterior of the bedrooms wing, they do not show up.But the table with benches shows up.
This happened at Heljarchen Hall.

7. When I told Alesan that I would adopt him, he wouldn't leave Dawnstar.I fast traveled to my home but he wasn't there. When I fast traveled back to Dawnstar and I talked to him, all he would say is "Let me say goodbye to everyone and I'll meet you there."

my biggest issue is I CANNOT BUY THE LAND IN FALKREATH.

Hey there, I'd offer you a fishy stick but I'm newbieish too so I don't know how that's supposed to work!

Anyway I can offer this, though:
Do you have any of the quests in this set outstanding right now?

Did the Jarl change since you were made thane? If so you can be made thane twice, the new one might have a new quest for you. And it does not matter if the Jarl forgets you, it is the Falkreath steward who sells you the land.

Green Robes got the same color as Monk Robes in first person.

Anyone noticed this? I don't have the Red Robes yet, but for the ones that have; what color does it have in first person?

Edit: i just got the Red Robes which is white and that also got the Monk Robes sleeves.

broken display cases
unuseable bookshelves (not sure if it's a bug or not)
can't furnish entry room (says not enough money but over 50k)

The furnishing room bug can be because I started to put my own items in there with the workbench and the game doesn't know what to do because it can't overwrite objects in a room maybe?

If your steward says you do not have enough money, and you do, it is because you already asked them to furnish that room. Even if you get a new steward, still you cannot pay twice for the same job, actually telling us we already paid would be helpful though. Your house comes with one bookshelf unless you have the library wing, I am pretty sure your one bookshelf would work. The display cases open without crashing the game, then they work, put your stuff in there by hand.

Also, now that I've given my kid a toy, why don't I see her playing with it after that one animation? Seems kind of lame.

Also, when I tell my daughter to go to bed or to play outside then she doesn't do it. Though when she's outside and I tell her to go inside, she obeys. Something is bugged here.

Yeah. That's not a bug. That's realism. Welcome to parenthood!

Only a minor glitch, although I have yet to make it vanish. I am stuck with the workbench in Windstad's cellar.

Usually accessing the outside workbench and then choosing to remove the workbench gets rid of stubborn ones, but this one refuses to budge. The cellar is extensively decorated with outside objects, which could conceivably be affecting something, it did refuse to move before then, but I was in too much of a hurry to give it further attention. If it insists on staying I will just use it to put the bread and cheese on. But if anyone has a magic combination of secret actions to shift it I am all ears. I have tried every obvious combo and nothing worked yet. Taking the stuff out of the cellar is not an option it took too long to get it all in there and arrange it.

I have left cellars partially furnished before had managed to get rid of the workbench, so it cannot be that not all the furnishings were made, unless it is a bug for that specific house. I have never before only partly furnished Windstad's cellar.

I left it as being there, and am hoping when I restart the game and remove it, it will vanish.

Edit
The workbench is a permanent feature for the cellar it seems, so it is now adorned with a platter of cheese and bread

1- Mannequins won't appear for several seconds and duplicate armour which overrides any newly placed armour when re-entering home. (Linked to existing bugs from day one)

2- Can't give Sofie any gifts because it states that it's too heavy. "Stop teasing me"

3- Game slows down when entering Lakeview. Possibly why others are having freezing issues.

4- Crafting tables display already built furniture.

My Lakeview Manor kept freezing until I removed all the workbenches, it turned out that the "Main hall workbench" was causing a freeze issue for some reason."

The freeze issue reappeared regardless of removing the workbenches. I've done some reading on fora and I've noticed more players are suffering from this major freeze issue, whether in the Dawnguard DLC or Hearthfire.
The freeze occured with my first character too, which had no DLC's installed. I was at level 45 and the game kept on freezing everywhere in Skyrim. I couldn't play longer than one minute for it to freeze frame. It was so annoying it was impossible to play with that character anymore, so I took an earlier save from when my character was level 34 and started from there. It was on usb so it's not that I had too many saves on my XBox. When I reached level 45 again with my character, I stumbled upon the same problem so I had to create a new character and start all over... Now my second main character is having the same freeze probleme at level 29.

I've tried everything the support team suggested so I guess it's just waiting patiently for a patch that solves this. I hope they're working on that and that they manage to solve it. It's all I can do.

I had the same issue. Are you sure you have a filled soul gem? It doesn't say but you need a filled grand soul gem and it should be filled with a 'grand' soul for it to work.
