It is bothersome that with this 30 day window they can't fix the things the XB players are complaining about. Some would be such easy fixes yet they just refuse.
Sorry, but how do you know that 'they just refuse'? Have they actually come out and said 'no, we won't be patching the dlc'? I highly doubt that is the case. If you're making as assumption based on the fact that a patch hasn't arrived yet, then consider that microsoft charges $20,000 a time for a patch, so Bethesda are clearly going to want to wait until they have covered every single bug before releasing said patch, they may even tie in other bug fixes as well before they do so. That's perfectly reasonable in my book. Also to consider is that they won't have every last member of staff working on bugs, they'll have people working on the PS3 issues for DG, people working on getting Hearthfire ready for PC and PS3, people working on further DLC and, yes, people working on bug fixes. These things do take time.
How exactly does Microsoft win when you pay retail to Steam for the PC version (BGS gets royalties) and then pay retail to Gamestop or whomever for an XBox copy (BGS gets royalties)? Nowhere in there does Microsoft make any money. The only place they could conceivably be making money is in te retail sale of XBox DLCs (BGS gets royalties). Yes, DLC exclusive deals are, of course, attempts to draw customers. Um, this is how you do business, trying to gain a larger customer base, trying to increase sales. It has nothing to do with the competition. It has to do with gaining the lead, maintaining the lead, and letting your competition fight to keep up or fall by the wayside. That's just business.
The console manufacturers both get a small cut from every game sold on their system.
Summer: According to the UK Official Xbox 360 Magazine site, it was Microsoft who announced it was only the first two, not Bethesda. I can give you the link if you like, but it's only for the small article on OXM. To be fair though, unless this whole exclusivity deal is a hoax, I don't think Microsoft are going to lie about it only being 2 dlc.
