Hearthfire PCPS3 release date Thread #1

Took about 5 weeks for DG to come out for pc after the XBOX release, so it will probably be similar with HF.

This is the best guess.
I'd say it's a part of Bethesda's deal with Microsoft - 'exclusive' means no mention of other platform until the exclusivity period ends.

So has anyone did the math on the XB release to PC release for Dawnguard and figured out when Hearthfire may be release for the PC (assuming the same wait period). I was going to try to figure it out, but I figured by now someone else has already done it.

EDIT: October 7th maybe, but that is a Sunday.

It's the first Thursday or Friday in October (4th or 5th) Unless they take longer than 30 days to release the PC version.

they probably won't announce it either. just drop it on us like Dawnguard. Which I'm fine with. Hopefully no issues with it and the mods I run.

+ No fixes to the reported issues (as usuall).
Imagine that the PC (or PS3 lolololol) user would get a version with less bugs.... :bunny:

It is bothersome that with this 30 day window they can't fix the things the XB players are complaining about. Some would be such easy fixes yet they just refuse.

This is a good estimate, if they are strict with the "30 day exclusive" thing, though there's a possibility that they will announce it on the 4th and 5th and have the DLC available on the next "New Release Tuesday", which falls on 10/09.

If they have a stable version of Hearthfire for the PS3 (it's possible because it's a smaller DLC) I wouldn't mind getting this content first before Dawnguard on the PS3. That's mostly just wishful thinking though. I really hope Bethesda, with the help of Sony can make some headway on this!

I hope the PS3 guys at least get Hearthfire. :(

If Hearthfire is buggy on the PC I'll just look for mods to fix it.

So is this the trend with all future Skyrim DLC?

- Xbawkz first
- PC ... Whenever
- Ps3 probably not?

I'll likely buy it if its cheap enough that or wait for the Christmas sale on Steam.

how do you know its easy fix ? i remember trying to fix something in my Oblivion game i tried to fix a bug and i couldnt because the game would exit because i missed something.
so fixing even the simply things are hard. know i imagine for xbox

Many of the fixes people made for the PC with patch mods are nothing more than moving a line of data or putting in the correct number in a line or adding a person to the right faction. I'm not saying that every bug is like this, but there are many that are and if a simple mod patch can fix it, it is frustrating that we have to depend on users to fix these things.

IIRC, only the first two DLC were exclusives. After that, DLCs are supposed to be released on all platforms simultaneously (depending on whether or not they figure out their PS3 problems).

Which is why I finally gave in and I'm getting Skyrim for the PC. I'm done with console toys.

You shouldn't buy multi platofrm games for xbox in the first place. Microsoft has a hellish reputation for screwing with every possible game it can on any platform but its own. Its been trying to drive Playstation out of buisness since it entered the market and now its also attacking PC gamers with their stupid exclusive contracts. They don't help anyone, they are just trying to lure people into buying an xbox for content because they can't wait. If you bought the game more then once, they are winning already. It is all one big marketing ploy to get more of your money and nothing more.

How exactly does Microsoft win when you pay retail to Steam for the PC version (BGS gets royalties) and then pay retail to Gamestop or whomever for an XBox copy (BGS gets royalties)? Nowhere in there does Microsoft make any money. The only place they could conceivably be making money is in te retail sale of XBox DLCs (BGS gets royalties). Yes, DLC exclusive deals are, of course, attempts to draw customers. Um, this is how you do business, trying to gain a larger customer base, trying to increase sales. It has nothing to do with the competition. It has to do with gaining the lead, maintaining the lead, and letting your competition fight to keep up or fall by the wayside. That's just business.

I'm doubting we'll see any DLC patches to be honest. Wrt Dawnguard on the PS3, I believe Bethesda is trying to fix the engine so it behaves better with the same Dawnguard.esm as the 360 and the PC, not actually fix the mess of UDRs in the Dawnguard.esm [etc].

I've yet to have a single issue with Dawnguard or Hearthfire and I have put massive amounts of time into both. OT I am eagerly awaiting the PC release for this also so I can mod my Xbox saves some more and play around with my mods again afterwards xD.

Can you link me to where Bethesda or someone from Bethesda has said only the first two are Xbox exclusive? I keep hearing this on the forum but thus far I can find no such statement by googling and no member I've asked has been able to give me a link to where it was said. I fear it's merely rumored and that when another DLC comes out also Xbox exclusive folks will believe they were lied to. Also, I don't think anyone is counting HF as a full DLC.

-------------------------------------------------------
Unrelated to the above, folks please don't turn this into yet another PS3 DLC thread, we have one of those and you may post about that issue there. This thread is about PC release. :)

Sorry, but how do you know that 'they just refuse'? Have they actually come out and said 'no, we won't be patching the dlc'? I highly doubt that is the case. If you're making as assumption based on the fact that a patch hasn't arrived yet, then consider that microsoft charges $20,000 a time for a patch, so Bethesda are clearly going to want to wait until they have covered every single bug before releasing said patch, they may even tie in other bug fixes as well before they do so. That's perfectly reasonable in my book. Also to consider is that they won't have every last member of staff working on bugs, they'll have people working on the PS3 issues for DG, people working on getting Hearthfire ready for PC and PS3, people working on further DLC and, yes, people working on bug fixes. These things do take time.

The console manufacturers both get a small cut from every game sold on their system.

Summer: According to the UK Official Xbox 360 Magazine site, it was Microsoft who announced it was only the first two, not Bethesda. I can give you the link if you like, but it's only for the small article on OXM. To be fair though, unless this whole exclusivity deal is a hoax, I don't think Microsoft are going to lie about it only being 2 dlc.

Statement from Microsoft:
Microsoft has secured timed exclusive releases for the first two DLC add-ons for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

"The first two add-on content drops for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be released exclusively on Xbox 360, 30 days before" they're available anywhere else, the platform holder said today.

it's also mentioned in the several threads of screaming we had back when it was announced there would be exclusives, around the end of August '11.

Try to buy an alchemy table for Breezehome :). Or pay attention to what happens to your Vampiric Drain if Serana is in your party. There are a few bugs with Dawnguard. However, the worst of them with the PC version is how many UDRs were left in the plugin, and the cascade problems they can cause.

That is awesome. Never had the will to do the legwork myself but it's great to see that the 2 DLC thing is true! Thanks for pulling that together! Okay I'm back to lurking :)

PC release should be within 30 or 35 days of 9-4, = 10-4 or 10-9. Ensuing DLC's should be simultaneous for 360 & PC.

Doesn't matter much to me, since I use a PS3. PC Skyrim is still more than I can afford, even once I get my PC going. And even if I could buy it, I find playing games on a keyboard is a vastly inferior experience than using a purpose-built game controller. It's kind of like using a PS3 controller to type replies, like I'm doing right now. It takes 5x longer, and I can't quote, use colored text, or add smilies.
