Not really, the whole gaming world knows about it, even people who don't even play Skyrim.

10-4-2012 is the earliest possible date. Do they normally wait this long to announce it?

Announcing the date would be a form of promotion. They can't promote this DLC on other platforms until after the exclusive period is over.

So there's a gag rule in effect until 10-4, and then we should at least get a release date.
Best case - Hearthfire will release on that date, PC and PS3 both.
Worst - Hearthfire will NEVER release on PS3, will release on PC sometime later.

No official release date has been given for PC as of this posting.

Can you link me to where Bethesda or someone from Bethesda has said only the first two are Xbox exclusive? I keep hearing this on the forum but thus far I can find no such statement by googling and no member I've asked has been able to give me a link to where it was said. I fear it's merely rumored and that when another DLC comes out also Xbox exclusive folks will believe they were lied to. Also, I don't think anyone is counting HF as a full DLC.

I can find several links where Microsoft states that they have exclusivity for 30 days on the first two DLC's in Skyrim, so at least one half of that partnership thinks that they have a contract.

Just a minor point, wasn't the very first patch, the high-res patch, actually called a DLC, not a patch? So wouldn't that make Hearthfire the 3rd DLC? And how does that fit in with MS's exclusivity?

-------------------------------------------------------
Unrelated to the above, folks please don't turn this into yet another PS3 DLC thread, we have one of those and you may post about that issue there. This thread is about PC release.

The PC release date will occur the next time Dark0ne goes on vacation and scheduled maintenance occurs on the Nexus Network.

The HD DLC was a PC only, and not a xbox exclusive

No. We probably won't get a release date on the 4th. Just like we didn't get a release date after the 30-day period for Dawnguard. It just showed up later on. The twitter/responses were still in mostly "no information that we can share" mode even after the 30-day period. It'll show up when it shows up.

It wasn't released for the Xbox, so it doesn't count. It was a free PC exclusive.

Midweek madness on Steam, TES up to 50% off (Skyrim 40%, Dawnguard 30%)..

Companies do this often when they release new DLC..

If the anticipation of a Hearthfire announcement is keeping PS3 owners on the edge of their seat... I can only imagine what it must be like at Microsoft headquarters. If it turns up on the PSN they can be "There you go... 30 days later, just like we paid something in seven figures for", whereas if it doesn't they'll be "Crap!... you mean we paid seven figures to delay the release of something that was never gonna happen... again!? Well, fool me once...".

For that, if no other reason, I have great hopes for the imminent release of HF to PS3... I can't believe Beth. would so obviously take the piss out of Microsoft. It would be such a transparent shakedown in retrospect.

With this sale I'm pretty sure Hearthfire for the PC will be released this Thursday, October 4th.

The same problem that is preventing Dawnguard being released will probably prevent Hearthfire being released as well, so I would not get your hopes up of seeing anything on the PS3 till we hear the problem is fixed. Microsoft got what they paid for, they had it 30 days before anyone else.

Isn't Tuesday more likely? My understanding is that most games tend to launch on Tuesdays, although I'm not sure if this includes downloadable content.

I used to think that too but then Dawnguard for the PC was released on a Thursday, August 2nd. Also when Dawnguard was released there was a sale on Bethesda games and right now we have a sale on TES games. Someone also pointed out that 5 new Skyrim achievements have been added to Steam. The same patterns seem to be repeating. We'll see what happens later this week.

I think the hearthfire release on ps3 will determine the future of the xbox exclusivity, surely Microsoft will not get a exclusivity deal if ps3 isn't going to get it anyway

Microsoft would not be asking for any more timed exclusives till the next game, which could be years away and not even released for the Xbox 360. Microsoft only asked for the first two Skyrim DLC's to be timed exclusives, and their second one is just about over.
