I've played it about 2 hours and I'm about 20% of the way through so no concrete statements yet but I absolutely love what I've seen so far. It's definitely worth the purchase.

On a scale of -10 to 10 it's 3.
Not bad! If it was bad it'd be -3.
It's just... An okay DLC, it's a bit fun but it's not something I'd suggest to waste money on if you're strapped for cash.

A lot of fun.

Cool loot, lots of exploration, relatively tough enemies, the survivalist side story was incredible (and he had some damn clever traps!), and a fairly good story about Joshua Graham.

It's a great DLC.

And you DO get to choose a side.

Be wary of the haters and their reviews. Many of them have very particular reasons for not liking the DLC (playstyle; views on what a DLC should be; anger at how certain individuals are presented) and those reasons might mean nothing to you.

There have been a lot of threads about the quality and value of this DLC. I suggest you go search for them and read them all.

Broken Steel was by far worse.

Overall, in my opinion:
Characters post-Happy Trails were boring and not very innovative. Daniel simply wasn't interesting, he's a nice guy trying to do a nice thing, those kinds of characters are just boring to me, and Graham was a walking cliché of good guy turned bad turned good with a tint of evil. Follows-Chalk was awesome though.

Difficulty lies with White Legs and Spore Carrier Brutes, the rest are cake walk, and this was with a gimped character.

Story was quite linear with some choices by the end, overall it do railroad you into helping the tribes although one can spin it by RP reasons.

Environment was beautiful and the rain and the night sky made it one of the greatest locations I've ever seen in a Fallout game, visually.

Quests were very repetitive, mostly fetch quests of "Go here, collect/place that.".

Exploration is very supportive to Survival characters but for others it's locations don't really hold that much interest with the exception of the Survivalist terminals. And about 80% of the locations did not need map markers, now the map is ugly as [censored] with map markers all over the area, should've only had markers for places that actually hold some interest.

The weapons in the DLC didn't really fill a niche and mostly just felt as filler weapons, new weapons for the sake of having new weapons yknow. I don't hate them or disapprove of new weapons, but it wouldn't have chipped the DLC if most of them weren't in it.

The new clothes and armor was much appreciated for RP reasons.

I don't hate the DLC, I like it, it just comes at 5th place of all Fallout DLC's to me.

I've not played much yet, so overall my view isn't totally worth-while, but based on first impressions it seems pretty awesome-- the setting looks great, to me, and I like what I've seen so far :)

Really? i though DM was great. Great stories great Characters and great enviroment...nice change of pace from "go here, get this, kill them." I really enjoyed the feeling of helplessness at the start of the DLC...having to ration your supplies and worry about the environs....In my opinion that is what a post apocalyptic RPG should be...the enviroment should be an enemy as well as.......enemies. Oh well to each his (or her) own.

Why? I see this bandied around a lot, usually followed by snarkiness "Broken Steel Broke my Game blahblahblah". Nary an actual coherent reason to be seen.

Mostly for the fact that it broke a perfectly acceptable end to a perfectly acceptable game.

Personally, I wasn't too against Broken Steel-- but I can kind of see where some people were coming from, I think: even though it was enjoyable enough, it did feel to me kind of tacked-on, which I imagine made some people dislike it-- we already had a solid ending, but then get an "epilogue" afterwards, so the Broken Steel Quest line itself might feel a bit convient.

Because none of the choices I made had any major consequences. Say you poison the water. The player is literally the only person who gets sick from drinking it.

It wasn't a perfectly acceptable end for me. Suicide? I think not, sir. Sacrifice? It's just a pretty word for suicide. [censored] that. [censored] suicide. And [censored] suicide endings being forced on me.

And I really don't see the point in comparing New Vegas DLC to Fallout 3 DLC. Separate games. Separate content. And I do believe that Bethesda did all FO3 DLC while Obsidian is doing all NV DLC.

Messed up character specialization, added bullet sponge enemies, removed the bad ending and added three dungeon crawler quests with a new ending which was worse than the first one.
It didn't fix anything, just dragged the game out with pointless quests and [censored] over the balance in the game. (Even if I gimp myself the balance is [censored] up.)

Allright, just finished it last night and I gotta say; it was a bit short.

That said it was fun and looked pretty.

And I'll be replaying it twice more for the other outcomes.

So I guess it's worth 10 bucks.

Alot of people complained that FO3 ended at the purifier quest. Then when Bethesda extended the game by adding Broken Steel, people complained about that.... go figure. In my opinion, the problem wasn't that BS extended the game, but the way that BS extended the game. For whatever reason, with BS Bethesda decided to raise the level cap to 30. With a perk at every level, and the xp system designed for a level 20 player char, this broke the game in many ways. Through careful planing, (ie. actually trying to from the start), you could max out your skill points by level 29,... thus causing a game-breaking glitch. (It won't let you off the level up screen if you have skill points left, but if you're maxed out on skills and have no where to put those points... well you see what I mean.) Also to off set the fact that the player was a demi-god by level 25 or so, all the new enemies, (overlords, albino scrops, etc), were little more than bullet spounges. Even Point Lookout, (the best of the FO3 dlc IMO), was messed up by the "bullet spounge" mentallity. Finally, BS really feels like it was sorta thrown together just to placate those who whined about the game ending.

I've got some thoughts about broken Steel, but this is an Honest Hearts thread, so I'll comment on that.

I loved it. Happy with the purchase.

I keep seeing people complain about the lack of an Eddie's Legion option, but I don't see this. I'll use spoiler tags, here --

Spoiler
You have to remember that Caesar needs the Burned man dead. He is a symbol of the consequences of failure.
The White legs are doomed; they know Graham is (or was) alive and therefore have no hope of being assimilated into the Legion. I don't know if the game files have been altered to reflect this, but any pro-Legion Couriers would be advised to not mention Graham while talking to Eddie, either.
The Legion player's choices are to kill the White Legs (which supports Caesar) or let them remain in Zion, where it is possible that word of Graham will trickle south (which may damage Caesar). The problem with Graham being alive is less of danger to Caesar then he believes; Graham expresses no interest in seeking revenge. Killing him accomplishes nothing, really.
Really, it's all secondary to the main plot -- the Courier is lost (which is the one element of both DM and this that I find weak) and has to find that map. His other choice is basically between -- pardon the metaphor -- eating the apple and staying in Eden or leaving with the Serpent (a neat reversal, I thought).
