And games are supposed to be fun. And while the term fun is subjectable, I think a lot of people don't find being forced to fight the same four different enemies constantly, fun. Its boring and tedious.
Again, the only reason I came up with the Jarl senario was because I was trying to come up with an ingame solution.
Like I said, in many posts, I'd like it if we could build a wall around the compound, build a castle, and have a city pop up as time passed. But the dlc was a small one, which they didn't want to dedicate to many resorces and man-hours to. They cut it off at just building houses with a random attack here and there. It gives the pre-built city houses a reason to sill be used in the game, as the player-built homes have the long term downside of being attacked. The attacks aren't meant to be fun. The reason stratagy games are fun is because half of it is tedious building of recorces and forces. Not everything has to be instant reward with no downside, espeically in an rpg.
I get you don't like it. I don't know how I can say this any more clearer that I agree with you. The attacks aren't fun. But they don't distroy the dlc eather. They're at best a small annoyance, one that simply does it's job in adding value to houses inside cities. Without these attacks, the pre-build homes would have nothing going for them. There would be no reason outside rp perposes to live in the smaller homes inside the cities. Carrages can carry you from your home to any city to sell your things, and there's always fast travel. Just as many quests start outside the cities as in them. The speed, cost, and convenience of the pre-built and player-built homes is negligable in a game as long as Skyrim is.
I get it, it's not fun, I really do. But it's such a small thing that simply gives reason to live inside cities, I don't see the problem holding any water. It works very effectively as a ballance between the two types of homes, and, again, without it there would be no reason to live inside the cities outside of roleplaying perposes or a taste in style.
