How did your follower die?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 6:55 pm

I helped the Priest of Mara at Dawnstar stopping the chaos that was made by the Daedric lord Vaermina and we traveled across the Pale all the way to Winterhold.
He's still alive and we are good friends , however after I joined the College we're parted ways , we'll meet again sometime...

Benor in Morthal, eh?

*checks uesp and strat guide...*

Cool. I'll add him to my list. Thanks!

Agreed... Benor in Morthal is a powerhouse. He loves the Daedric warhammer I gave him. Kharjo isn't a bad option either, just don't give him a shocky stick (staff of lightning). Seems he has a thing for tasers. He and Shadowmere got into it after the kitty shocked the **** out of the horsie. lol

As my knowledge and skill in skyrim has improved, my use of followers has dropped off. If there was a follower I could dump stuff on who hid from battle and never fought... I'd take it. As it is I followers doing my kills for me, tripping traps, setting off glyphs and what not. The fact they svck at stealth...

Anyway when I took followers...

Annekke Crab-Jumper came along for a time with my Khajitt. It was a bright sunny day and for some reason I thought I'd try all three words to Storm Call. Oh it was awesome. Bright sunny day turned to night with thunder, heavy rain and lightening. I stood there in all its frightening glory approving my work when I realized something sad... Anne was dead. Struck down by my own shout.

Thankfully (as I do often) I had saved not to long before so I re-loaded. I always reload with a follower dies.

Derkeethus cannot die so I never had a follower die on me but I had plenty of dogs killed by accident via Wall of Storm spell... Why so they stay in it and die?

One thing I have found to help me keep my followers alive is the Dovacore Helm. I never mistake them for the enemy now!

About your first paragraph.
Its funny because I used to never use followers until just a few weeks ago I started using them. I guess the main reason is that I began playing on master difficulty but I really enjoy gearing them up and RPing with them.

And they are great for ordering around... IE i like to tell IronHand orc dude to go stand on shock runes so I dont have to deal with them. Very funny

I had the mercenary from Windhelm with me. He faced off against 2 draugr deathlords while I was occupied with a 3rd one. He weren't as tough as he thought he was apparently.

Lydia hasn't died on me... yet. When I get the materials and smithing level, I'm going to make her some steel plate armour, a Ebony Sword and Shield and a Enchanted Circlet (Maybe elemental defense?). With the other housecarls I'm not sure yet. Are there any more housecarls asides from the ones in Riften and Markarth?

Although, could I use this topic to discuss how thick-headed the NPCs are? I mean, not as in combat, where their path finding and field of vision gets messed up and they begin walking back and forth, but when something like a Saber cat or a troll appears, and they will run towards it and get insta-killed, like this certain time a courier noticed a Saber cat, and he almost instantly pulled out his dagger and ran towards it, before getting pounced and instantly killed.

I've now come to the conclusion that the Nords of Skyrim are a bunch of blathering self-righteous thick-heads that will throw themselves at anything that is even considered a threat. This is also hilarious when a dragon attacks (I once had a mod that gave dragons shouts like Unrelenting force and disarm), and some regular citizens will pull out whatever weapon they have on them, they run towards it, and get killed. That General store owner in Winterhold...

Not sure if this counts but I had to take this guy from A to B....about 90% of the way there a dragon swoops him up and kills him. I found his dead body in the town we were going to.

Lydia died several times with me mainly because she decides to get in my way when I'm doing a fire shout or when I'm taking that strike to finish the boss off she manages to get in the way, I love lydia and how she randomly stalks me in my own home going into my bedrom eating food while watching me and my wife sleep but she manages to die quite often (with me at least) which becomes...tedious

Whenever I look at followers I think of this song at the start, lol.

They have a lot of stupid deaths.

I personally love Janessa. She's quiet most of the time, and by that I mean she doesn't have annoying dialogue that she repeats every 15 seconds. Not to mention she is one of the only followers that can effectively Dual Wield. She looks quite the badass running around with x2 Scimitars, Krosis' Mask, and her Leather Armor set.

Alot of people have been saying followers don't scale, but I don't know, I've been with her since level 1 and I'm now nearly 20 and she's doing ridiculous damage still, she can take out bandit camps all on her own. Maybe she's one of the few (only) followers that isn't bugged? It would explain why she can Dual Wield at least.

I usually don't use followers, but I have a soft spot for Janessa for the same reasons. About the least annoying and seems able to dish out some real damage. Give her a couple of powerful staffs and it's best to keep out the firing line though.

Ways followers can die in Skyrim:
- Friendly fire.
- Traps
- Fall off a cliff
- Getting lost
- Traps
- Being pushed by a FUS RO DAH off of a mountain.
- Drinking too much Skooma and getting eaten by a dragon.
- Traps
Oh yeah, and traps.
My followers died in all of the above ways.......well, except to Skooma one.

I was travelling to Markarth with Lydia (new char).. Accidentally walked into a forsworn camp.. Then a dragon attacked.. Then a sabre cat.
I'm not ashamed to say I ran, didn't see Lydia after that.

Yep, five total. One for every major city. Whiterun, Markarth, Riften, Solitude, and Windhelm.

Lost my Kajhit one(used to run with a trade caravan?) by accidentally shouting him to death alongside about 5 draugrs mobbing me and him.

Lost Lydia in a hideout with loads of Falmer, got overrun, ran out the door, Lydia didn't follow. Should go back and see if she's there, but it's been about a month in game...would just be awkward now.
