How did your follower die?

Lost Lydia in a hideout with loads of Falmer, got overrun, ran out the door, Lydia didn't follow. Should go back and see if she's there, but it's been about a month in game...would just be awkward now.

I wouldnt go back, if she was alive she'd probably have a beard and would be living off eggs.

Lydia, I killed. I sacrificed her to Boethiah.

No mercy..lol. I don't think I could do that to Lydia... She is just so trusting I'd feel bad...

Had anyone manage to get one of their follower to get killed by your own dog or another follower you have?

Marcurio once killed Meeko. Their collective stupidity combined into one mess. Meeko ran at a enemy as Marcurio fired a fireball. Then they had a fight. Dead Meeko, half health Marcurio.

I've also had followers nearly kill or kill temporary followers or people I was helping.
They're a menace with that.

Uthgerd died defending me against about 8 Falmer while I was standing back and healing. She took a few out and weakened the rest. I honoured her by stripping her naked and selling all her stuff later :P

Ways followers can die in Skyrim:
- Friendly fire.
- Traps
- Fall off a cliff
- Getting lost
- Traps
- Being pushed by a FUS RO DAH off of a mountain.
- Drinking too much Skooma and getting eaten by a dragon.
- Traps
Oh yeah, and traps.
My followers died in all of the above ways.......well, except to Skooma one.

See, I've never had a Follower die of any trap unless that trap was magic in nature. My Dunmer Vampires are immune to poison and disease, so when I come across a dart trap or something of the sort I'll tell my Follower to wait back a little ways and then I go and trip the trap myself.

The damage from the Poison is negated by being a Vampire, and the damage from the darts themselves is negligible.

However, in combat I've had Followers wander off of a 100+ foot cliff before. Not shouted off like a Draugr of sufficient level could do, I mean my follower strafed off to his left and walked right off of a cliff. It took me half an hour to get down to his body to get my stuff back...

I was wondering the western plains of Whiterun with Vilkas one day when I spotted, way off in the distance, a dragon hovering over a hill and town. Oh no I though that dragon must be attacking Rorikstead! As companions we were honor bound to defend the townspeople. So I began sprinting to the scene. Thankfully I can really move since I have the steed stone and a ring of rejuvenation. Vilkas on the other hand is not so fast and he soon fell well behind. It wasn't until I was half way there that I realized that the dragon was none other than Alduin himself and he was actually in the process of resurrecting another dragon from a mound on top of a hill behind Rorikstead. I continued to rush top the scene but by the time I got there Alduin had flown off and the essence of Nahagliiv was coalescing into the mighty beast.

Nahagliiv turned to gaze upon me with murderous eyes, I returned the favour and rushed him with a critical charge. As I attempted to bring my axe down on his head he took to the sky and alas I could not stop my forward momentum and my axe sunk deep into the soft ground. I struggled to remove the axe and orient myself just in time as Nahagliiv took a swooping pass about to blast me with his thuum. I raised spellbreaker just in time to block the frost breath. Frost breath?!! I'm a Nord for Talos sake, I was barely fazed. I could tell Nahagliiv was clearly frustrated and he came in for a landing to test my mettle in melee combat...Big mistake... I immediately shouted, invoking the power of elemental fury and set upon the dragon with blinding speed, hacking and slashing furiously. I was inflicting terrible damage and when Nahagliiv attempted to strike out at me a bashed him in the face with spellbreaker. Desperate to flee, Nahagliiv took to the skies but he was too severely wounded to remain aloft. He quickly came crashing to the ground tearing a wide swath as he slid across the ground. Dirt and rocks flew everywhere and the mighty dragon only stopped once he hit the very mound from which he had just emerged. I rushed in again to finish him off hacking relentlessly as the dragon died. Caught up in a beast-like fury I continued to wield my axe against the dragon as I absorbed his very soul...

Finally, it was over...
As I caught my breath, I gazed at the dragon and then at the town below, whose people had been oblivious to the whole scene, unaware how close the came to destruction. Oh well, all in a days work for the Dovahkiin.

Time for a drink
I wonder where Vilkas is...?

I head down to the Frostfruit Inn for a well deserved drink (or two) and tell the tale to the towns people. I'm sure Vilkas will be around shortly. When I awoke the next morning and Vilkas still hasn't sown up I began to worry. Where is that bugger? Suddenly a terrible thought occurs to me. I bust out of the inn, up the hill to where the dragon lay. And what do I find under the skeletal remains but Vilkas' body face down in the dirt. Anguish rolls over me as I realize that when the bloodlust had me and I was hacking away at the dying dragon I was also hacking away at my friend, my comrade in arms, my Companion, poor Vilkas, who had arrived on the scene just as the dragon came crashing to earth and yet in the confusion I had not seen him...

Well, my Lydia has some issues: show won't heal (natural regeneration or spell both don't work), she'll bleed out (what's that called when you succumb when your stamina is low and you get hit?) spontaneously or after just one hit, her health is at 10% or so and the strangest thing is that she is the only follower having these issues. So now she's practically useless to me.

On topic: she's level 50 and a mud crab can kill her. Very annoying when your quite handy follower dies. I have reloaded a lot more to revive a follower than to reviv myself.

Does anybody know what could cause this? My Skyrim is quite modded, but not so much that it would break my game like this. Disabling mods to test which of them causes her to succumb is no option, my save game simply will have issues. Also, my Skyrim wasn't as modded as it is now when these problems started.

Please reply if you have any info or a link to a thread on this topic. I'd like to solve this problem!

Venturing down into the Wolf Queen's catacombs with Lydia, we encountered a high level vampire who slowly svcked Lydia's life away, replenishing her own, making her virtually impossible for me to kill until after Lydia had fallen dead as I was playing a fairly low level character.

While my thread initially wasn't about the death of a follower, my story soon became the story of the death of a follower.

The quick version is, I was approached by a group of bandits who had taken out a squad of Imperial soldiers and taken their gear for themselves. Disguised as Imperial soldiers, they tried to ambush Lydia and I to get some gold, but I wasn't having any of that. Lydia died in the ensuing melee (I thought she was alive, but she didn't make it). Soon after the scuffle, some mages in the distance began making an attack on my position, so I decided to give Lydia one last hurrah, and used my Reanimate Corpse spell on her, and fought side by side one last time, before saying my final goodbye to her as her body dissolved into ash.

Sven tried to play his flute near a draugr lord... That was svens death music... Fus roh dahed off a waterfall to land on the rocks below... Followed by the lord. Sven had some nice mod amour (scout armor), all my staffs and a few Other things. Never found his body.

Had a gut-wrenching narrow escape for Lydia the other day. Was exploring (looting) a falmer cave with my level 12 DiD character and Lydia. Reached the end to find a pair of dwemer doors, so we opened them and peered through to see what awaited us. The sight of much dwarven metal and loot guarded only by a falmer gloomlurker got us both excited so we both charged in. As we closed in on the falmer, the mist in the room lifted in time to reveal a dwemer steam centurion installed on the back wall. "oh god please don't come to life" I thought as I clashed with the gloomlurker.

As if it had read my mind it promptly lurched to life, and the next thing I knew my screen was filled with steam and my health was dropping like a stone. Somehow I managed to stumble out of immediate danger, barely alive and convinced Lydia was dead, I ran back towards the surface. However halfway back I was blown away to hear her clumping footsteps behind me. Not only did she survive, she disengaged from the fight too, the clever sod...

Faendal got killed in a cave while we were fighting bandits, and I'm an archer so naturally my first thought is, "Did I kill him?" After the battle was over, I got out a torch and looked. There was an arrow in his back, "[censored]."

Luckily Deerkethus can't die, so I've been having him tag along since then.

The only real time I've used a follower was with Argis the Bulwark when I married Aela the Huntress and it didn't seem right him hanging around the marital home.
I gave him full set of dragonplate armor and an ebony -> dearic two-handed sword and he was an absolute rock. He didn't seem to get a scratch.

The most I saw him struggle was when we were in the heart of the Forsworn settlements near the entrance leading the Sky Haven Temple and Forsworn were overwhelming us. I think I saw him go down on one knee for a moment to rest but soon got up and carried on fighting the mass horde of Reachmen.

I seriously recommend him as a follower. I've now enlisted him into the Blades so he isn't living in the marital home. Aela is quite able to defend the home herself.

Hmm, i always cheat to make my followers essential :D Otherwise i would have a 300 + 300 weight in loot to carry.

Although i vaguely remember shooting one of them by accident once.
