How many will or will not get Skyrim because

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 4:28 pm

I just want to ask,

How many will get Skyrim despite the bad treatment other gamers got from other Bethesda games?

How many will NOT get Skyrim because of the mistakes and problems gamers are enduring because of Bethesda? (example, we Fallout gamers got add ons that are glitched because last patch bugged the add ons and game)

I thought about getting Skyrim, but see how Bethesda gave up on Fallout New Vegas after making so many game glitching patches, I will not get Skyrim.

Generally, people who share your position won't be just hanging around the forums to talk about the game they aren't getting.

I've been waiting for some time for this game, a spiritual successor for Morrowind if you will.

Hell yes I'm getting it!

Fallout is not what got me hooked on Bethesda's games, Morrowind was. And while I certainly enjoyed Fallout 3 and NV, Morrowind blew both of them out of the water.

Open world games are going to be buggy and very hard to patch since everything seems to affect everything else.

I just don't see Bethesda the way you do. They just spent years and 1,000's on man hours on making this game. I'm certainly not going to trash it before even playing it. Also if they put that much into it I'm sure they will fix any major issues it has. Bethesda wants it to work also.

What bad treatment did Bethesda give past games?

Last I checked, Bethesda developed games are 3 for 3 making "greatest game of all time" candidates (Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3) and even for those who don't share my opinion that they are the "greatest games of all time", all 3 of those games were huge mainstream successes and critically acclaimed games.

If you're referring to Fallout: New Vegas, you do realize Bethesda didn't make Fallout: New Vegas, right?

Fallout 3 is one of my favorite games. I think Bethesda did a pretty good job all around with it. Sure it had bugs, but games of this complexity will always have some.

Obsidian Entertainment developed FO:NV. Your rage is misplaced.

The only thing I don't like is they seem to have put the PC development in the backseat to consoles but honestly they aren't even close to being the only studio doing that and I for one am glad that I'll be able to play it on PC at all.

Am I the only person that doesn't have a lot of issues with FO3 and FO:NV? I don't remember any bugs in FO3 and in New Vegas I probably got stuck in a rock 3 times forcing me to reload but those occurred over 200+ hours of gaming.

I didn't have any issues with either of those titles either. There were a few bugs but nothing of the magnitude that would keep me from buying Skyrim.

QFT

I had ONE glitch in Fallout 3 where a save file got corrupted somehow, and I had to redo 45 minutes of game time. That's over hundreds of hours of game time. So, I think Bethesda is amazing at smashing bugs, considering how large the world is.

+100.

I have never received and "bad treatment" from Bethesda with any of they're games, nor have I received any "bad treatment" from Obsidian with New Vegas. My copy of Skyrim has been bought and paid for for months, all I have to do is go to Gamestop's midnight release and pick it up.

I have been extremely reluctant to purchase Skyrim because of how poorly Bethesda handled "Hunted: The Demon's Forge". While they were only the publisher on that game and not the developers, the fact remains that the developers (inXile, who I will never purchase a game from again) completely abandoned the game the moment it launched. And, from my perspective, Bethesda (as the publisher) did next to nothing to resolve that problem.

Bethesda also neglected to get the people who purchased that product any real information, support, or resolutions. I have to believe that, as the publishers, they would have certainly had more pull with and access to the inXile developers, had they tried (compared to the players, who only got canned email responses when attempting to contact inXile for support).

So, it has been difficult to trust Bethesda as a company going forward. I certainly no longer feel like I can depend on them.
