How to marry any character - Including Lydia

I could use this console command on you now Ordeus, just because I love you so much.

How did you figure out the potentialmarriage faction ID? :D Thanks.

Actually that was someone else that discovered it, I just found it on google :)

I saw "Using the console" sub title and I thought this was a guide for the PS3/360, aren't I the big fool....

Hah, sorry Man

Hmm, doesn't seem to work on Kharjo, not getting any new dialogue at all.

It seems that Khajits aren't marriable in general ... just in case, you are wearing the amulet right?

Definitely trying this asap with Hroki from Markarth... Phwoaarrr.EDIT: Thanks OP - is there a way of using the console to divorce an NPC? I don't particularly want to kill my current wife so I can marry a new one.

Im guessing that's going to be a lot more complicated unfortunately. You need to first set the global variable for being married to 0, then probably unset the variable of the person you married also. I'll look into it

I've tried this with a number of random npcs, and it just doesn't seem to be working...

Can you be more specific? Did you try it only on Khajits? Are you wearing the amulet?

It seems they were going to actually implement it in the game, you could break a marriage and the character would answered "I never loved you anyway" xD ... but I cannot find the variable anywhere. I've tried Marriage Marry Wed SpokenFor Relationshipe ... to no avail. Maybe someone can point us in the right direction

It's possible to browse the master file using New Vegas' http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34703. Apparently some people have even succeeded in using it to create plugins, though that sounds like a Really Bad Idea™.

You still need to equip the amulet of mara. For some of you who it didn't work for.

I assume that Lydia will be fixed in the first patch (since everyone has noticed it), so I won't bother with if for now. But it's nice to note that you can use the console to add people to factions they weren't originally in (like the marriageable faction).

That's the hope. Us console players, ironically, cannot use the console. We need a DLC fix. :/

Yes, I was definitely wearing the amulet when I put in the console code for Kharjo. Considering that he was already my companion, I thought for sure that it would work on him, but maybe its just something about khajiits. Has anyone used it successfully on bosmers or redguards?

Oh, thank you so much OP!

I was excited to find a male for my Wood Elf lady to marry in Eric. I had spent hours going down the list of people and he was the first male to really strike her fancy. So I did his quest, hired him, and ran around the world clearing out caves, slaying dragons, and spamming rest to respawn nodes to make him armor... and he never would let me talk to him about marriage. I thought I was simply missing something.

This, however, has fixed the issue. :)

Isn't Kharjo married? He travels with his wife doesn't he? I don't think it will work on someone who is already married.

Would anyone be interested in expanding marriage or a companion's role in upcoming DLC? Maybe that's too difficult to add any real value to the game, or just too far off the game's directive?

Yeah, Lydia is bugged. I tried getting the marriage dialogue, it doesn't come up.

Is it "just Lydia", or can you marry any of your other housecarls on the console versions? I only have Lydia thus far and have no marriage options on the 360. About to earn the housecarl of Solitude, and wonder if the bug applies to all housecarls, or just Lydia?

Oh hey look at that. Still no reason not not to just marry her now with the console command if you really want to. She's got all the proper dialogue and functions. Nice to know they're going to fix it for the console players though.

No. She hasn't got the proper dialogue command, functions because I leave her in my house in Whiterun and all she does was trying to sit on a chair, but that's impossible if she has a double handed weapon equipped she just sit and go up from the chair over and over again.

All the other Housecarls are suppose to be marriageable. My character is only the Thane for Whiterun so far, so I don't know if they're bugged or not.

She cooks me meals, does her shop thing and behaves just like every other wife I tried.
