How much did you enjoy FONV?

Post » Wed Sep 09, 2009 3:44 pm

I thoroughly enjoyed this one, but I found Fallout 3 had a better "feel" to it. Part of it was the explore music and the music on the radio in Fallout 3 that really made it enjoyable. I liked the music in New Vegas but it just doesn't do as much for me as the music in 3 did. I find I go to Novac just to look out on the wasteland while listening to the explore music from 3.

And the free roaming in Fallout 3 was better. In 3 you could get onto the raised highways and climb up the mountains and hillsides assuming you could find a way up. In New Vegas you can't walk on the raised highways and you can try climbing up mountains and hills but you'll eventually hit an invisible barrier. And I didn't like how some sections of the map were somewhat cut off but deathclaws, radscorpians and cazadores. Well they were cut off until you got better weapons and higher skills. I know I'm not about to risk cazadores or deathclaws or giant radscorps when I'm a level 3 with a 10mm pistol as my best gun.

I give it 80. It has great story, characters, factions and dialogue, lots of quests and guns to choose from and the hardcoe mode. Alas, it's still more or less Oblivion with guns. :sadvaultboy:

I'm sick of that whine. I see it so much at this point it's just childish.

I liked it very much. The Main Quest blew the below-average F3 equivalent out of the wate(sorry, maybe I am just snobbish but I believe they could do better than the Transformers rip-off. No amount of 'epic' is going to fill those plotholes too).
Characters were actually memorable and not one-dimensional like in other RPGs. The only thing it could use would be... more exploring places and random encounters.

Like I said before: F4 = Bethesda creating the world, Obsidian everything else. Please make it happen.

Heh, I do that too. I wish that music was still 'wilderness' music rather than 'town' music in NV.

Ill give it a 60. I cant stand to play through it again, Ive only done it 3 times so no Mr. House ending for me, and hell, even the Legion ending I was only at level 15 cause I was already so bored of it. I wish I hadn't traded in FO3 for this

That is a shame that you traded F3, i feel ya. I traded Halo Reach so no love loss there. But i probably would of got more replay with Halo when i have friends over. I played through New Vegas once and couldn't do it again so you beat me there. I want to, but there just isn't enough there for me. That's what happens when Obsidian gets its hands on a game, you want to enjoy it but can't. I am eager to see how disappointed i am going to be with Dungeon Siege 3. But hey, the good news about Fallout 3 is that it is cheap as hell for a used copy and only 20 for a new copy.

90+ for me. It put right everything F3 got wrong - hardcoe mode, weapon variety, geckos & the robo-dog!

My only gripes are that "completionist" characters level way too fast & the lack of poignant mini back-stories (like F3's Nurses diary at German or the split-up family heading to the bunker etc). More wandering critters would have been good too.

Let me rephrase that. The engine is still Gamebryo and it borrowed some mechanics from Fallout 3, which in turn borrowed them from The Elder Scrolls games.

Much better :D

But I know what you mean, but I liked the Oblivion core gameplay, apart from level slides anyway. But I am very curious to see what Fallout 4 would be like, I just hope since MZ was finished they have spent all this time creating F4, if I think it's half assed. I'm going to go up to Bethesda, with a big iron on my hip and let the morning pass so quickly till it's time for us to meet. :verymad:

I got SO exhausted with Oblivion after the first play-through. God fighting was just horrible. Hack-slash-hack-slash-block-block-block-hack-slash-hack-slash... And it dragged on and on and on... I like things to die quick, unless it has a damn good reason not too. I don't think I want to play Oblivion again...

It gets boring after the 2nd play through doesnt have much replability like F3 had. Some more reason but cant think of them right now.

Yeah right, because Fallout 3 had really lots of choices, the only things important i remember choosing are:
Blow up megaton or not
Use fev on purifier or not

Fallout 3 is not bad,but it should not be compared to FNV,FO3 is more of a sandbox game.

Reading through this got ne thinking how much I really do wish obsidian does the writing and bethesda does the game design in the next fallout game. Or at least I hope Bethesda makes a good story in the next one.

Oblivion was amazing up there with nv but why does people treat fo3 like a hermaroid can't people be more pro fo3/fonv instead of anti fo3/fonv.

Yes exactly gets boring after the 2nd playthrough it needs to be more lively.

Not ignoring bugs: 65

My top 5 favorite games list:
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Fallout: 3
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Borderlands
Fallout: New Vegas

Yes, New Vegas is number 5, it barely made it. But overall, these games are better than New Vegas. (Not ignoring the bugs)

I've not voted because there's no option for my choice.

I both love and hate this game. I love the characters, there are all types going from really nice to really loathsome. The companions as well are a big step forward.

I hate the sixism in the game. Not being able to do anything about it is what annoys me the most. I really want to be able to punch Otho in the nose.
