My personal favorite idea on the subject;

The unstoppable force stops and the immovable object moves.

That's the best response I've heard, like it.

The existence of one immediately makes the existence of the other impossible by definition.

With matter being something like 99% empty space anyway, me thinks the unstoppable force won't be stopped by the unmovable object which won't be moved, as both their names imply, and move through each other.

Hey, it could happen.

They stay in place like the nuclear forces in a star acting against forces of gravity. (pushing and pulling at the same time sustaining the shape/size of the star)

When an immovable object and a unstoppable force collide Chuck Norris is born. This can only happen once. If it happens twice there will be two Chuck Norris and the Universe will explode form to much awesome.

Lemme solve this using straightforward science. The equation for force is F=MA, so an unstoppable force would need to be of an infinite mass for it to be unstoppable.
The equation for mass is a simple rearrangement using minor algebra. M=F/A. In order for the object to be immovable, It would need an infinite mass, but because no acceleration is done by a force with infinite mass, The equation then ends up with an undefined number. This means that it also has infinite mass, which in both cases means it is rendered impossible, even in a closed system that is from a theoretical standpoint. It disobeys the equation that is the basis of all physics. This question is impossible as there is no answer because there is no finite mass, which is impossible to produce by the law of conservation of mass. this question is a paradox only meant to make you think, I applaud the OP for making us think, but I see through your ruse and prove it impossible. When there is an article that says they have created an item of infinite mass, the universe as we know it would completely fall into itself, effectively turning all existence into a black hole. The more mass an item gains, the more gravity it has. infinite mass equals infinite gravity.

It is never stated that the unstoppable object can not be re-directed or that the unmovable object can not be traversed through. The unstoppable and unmovable objects can also be larger gatherings of things that as a collective can not be stopped or moved but individually can be moved or stopped. So the following scenarios should be possible.
  • The unstoppable object collides with the immovable object but is only momentarily staved off its path but ultimately it continues off in the direction it was heading.
  • The unstoppable object moves through the immovable object.
  • The unstoppable object mixes with the immovable object, then separates itself from the immovable object at the other end.
And then there should be more possible outcomes but those are my 3 outcomes.

The more mass an item gains, the more gravity it has. infinite mass equals infinite gravity.

Except if you could spread the infinite mass through an infinite wormhole through space/time which is just as probable & possible as a wormhole existing in the first place, which is more probable than possible.

Edit: Also, taking into consideration white holes, the universe becomes the multiverse and therefore becomes infinite (if the universe itself is not already)

Edit 2: The laws of physics are subjective to the human perspective. I'm pretty sure this has been established.

This has happened once in human history. When the smoke cleared, both objects were gone. In their place was the movie Troll 2.

Now the foremost concern for humanity is making sure it never happens again.

I like the definition from the game Exalted, which actually has both as character powers (grouped as "ultimate attacks" and "ultimate defences"): The defence wins.

Personally, I think nothing much happens, besides the unmovable object changing its frame of reference.

Nothing. The force keeps moving while the object stays still.
Its like you trying to run when someone has their palm on your head - You won't stop running but they are not going to move their hand.

Depending what the unstoppable force is, it would just hit the object and go in the direction gravity then took it.
Like throwing a ball (force) off the floor (object), the floor will never move for the ball, and the ball will not stop for the floor. So when the ball comes into contact with the floor, what happens? It bounces back - never stopping, and the floor never budging.

Same example could be done with dye through water onto and object - the dye will simply move around the object - Thus keeping the Unstoppable forces and Immovable Objects on their correct path.

the unstoppable force will bounce off of the immovable object and continue on its path.

the unstoppable force is still moving, and the immovable object has remained where it began.

Pretty much what I said. But the more I think of it - Isn't it like the "Can a Fly Stop a Train" theory?
That force, in order to turn, has to stop - even if it is just mili seconds - in order to assess which direction to go and then turn to it before going on its merry way.
