Here is a quote:

The only downside is that every other fan of the series is eager to critique his work.

Why is this a downside?

Bit disappointed that they didn't talk about combat and the character system, but it was nice to hear some explanation for the alliances.

edit: But Paul seems like an overall likeable guy, and I'm thrilled he's such a huge TES fan. Now if only we would see that in the game ...

PvP seems to be a focus. Considering the flustercuck that Mythic made of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, this makes me both happy and cautious. I love PvP in MMORPGs but there's only one which ever got it right.

EDIT: Ah, God - HeroEngine. HeroEngine and PvP don't go well together.

Correction:
Bioware, a completely modified and un-updated HeroEngine and PvP don't go well together.

so it seems:

- there will be dungeons
- heroic dungeons will have "a different story" than their regular versions
- there will be raids
- there are doomstones
- there will be other daedric princes
- there will be perks
- they are focusing on exploration for leveling
- they want to keep the world "interactive" in the sense theres things like lootable barrels etc
- pvp will have capture points, which will provide faction wide benefits

With regard to the video - It seems great to me. He seems very passionate, and I hope his words demonstrating that they understand what TES fans want will alleviate some of the worries that we are seeing all over the place.

But... WANT MORE INFO!! :)

Check out a gameplay video of Faxion Online, then check out Star Wars: The Old Republic. Now have a look at the screenshots of TES:O. They're all so similar - and being similar to Faxion Online isn't good.

EDIT: I'm digressing from the topic. Sorry. Disregard. Hopeful for PvP, but tradgic it's using HeroEngine.

So, endgame gear grinding PvP and Heroics/Raids confirmed, huh? Nail in the coffin I guess. No point in trolling here further, just hope it doesn't hurt the franchise too much or end my favorite single player series through epic failure.

He certainly seems like a huge fan of the series and a lore geek, which is heartening.

Well lets be realistic, they werne't going to develope new quests for end game every week. That would seem impossible.

Would you consider thousands of people ready to burn you at the stake as a heretic just on principle as some kind of benefit?

Just look at some of the posts around here - we've seen the barest fraction of this game and some are effectively blaming him for the imminent destruction of the entire ES franchise.

This interview has provided evidence to me that, while the game may be unorigonal, it will be enjoyable.

For some reason, from everything I've heard/read, I get a sneeking suspicion that they would rather not listen constructive criticism from potential customers. Maybe it is how they phrased certain things... I don't know. What ever. They have their target audience... Unfortunately many TES fans don't fall within that audience.

I would welcome more information or interviews on WHY they chose to do certain things. All the 'why'-s I've heard so far seem like a load of bull, like they won't tell us the actual reasons.

Whatevs... The team undoubtedly has talent and lots of financial backing, and (at least Paul Sage) has passion. This TES MMO will not ruin TES, and will be enjoyable (for many people). Too bad many other TES fans that wanted an MMO won't get a single thing they would have wanted...

Important news: Level 457 is not the level cap. Add that to the information we know!

:P

(I'm glad they're trying to focus on exploration, that's always one of my favourite things in a game and especially in a well-made world like Tamriel has always been.)

What do you mean "focus on exploration for leveling"?

Probably that you wont be going from quest hub to quest hub all the time.

PvP isn't mandatory in any MMO I've ever played. You chose to do it, or you chose not to do it. No one forces you to participate.

Weird to see a online game based on TES focusing on PVP...I always thought of TES like the temple of roleplay.

Actually TES games have always been sort of harsh full loot open world pve games based on killing people ( yes NPC's are people ) for one reason or another, when you add a multiplayer aspect to that its a given to add pvp to it, they could have thrown in full loot with the pvp and it would have been 100% fitting.

I never thought about TES the way you are describing. I avoid killing people, usually my chars are reluctant hero type of guys (hunters, shy mages..). But thats why TES games are so great, lots of ways to playing it.
