Jarl Erikur? What?!?!?!

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 4:19 am

So I've encoded all of Ulfric stormcloaks sounds from .fuz to .wav. I'm a spoiler addict and my intentions was to find out what I've missed out, and to figure a way to make the civil war a bit longer.

I couldn't help but to notice that on 1 Ulfric's sound bytes mentions http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Erikur" and proceeds his speech after the invasion of Solitude. I notice on http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Elisif_the_Fair under notes mentions: "Interestingly, Jarl Elisif was originally intended to be the target of a murder ordered by Boethia, called http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Boethiah%27s_Bidding, following the quest http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Boethiah%27s_Calling. The quest itself was removed, but the data can still be found in the game files."

Come to find out that the quest "Boethiah's Bidding" was an unfinished quests that requires the player to kill the jarl of solitude.

Why was this quest labeled as "Unfinished"? It seems a bit interesting, unless if Bethesda decided to add this quest to the future DLC of the dark brotherhood quest? Maybe have Erikur perform the Black Sacrament to get rid of Elisif so he can become the next Jarl of solitude? He reminds me a lot like Maven.

Maybe the dev was going to have Erikur as the replacer, but then decided not to do it. This obviously would make Ulfric seem less ambitious and imply that he maybe worth a leadership material.

Really? Intesting.
There are very many unfinished quests in the files, it's almost to cry of. What would be amazing, was a mod or something which added all these half-finished quests and finished them, so you could play them in-game.
I would like that, could possibly become one of my essentials.

There's also unused lines of Tullius at Elenwen's party saying he thinks Ulfric is right in what he's doing, but his orders still demand that he stop the rebellion.

Heres another potential easter eggs...

As I'm searching through his sound file here I found some more interesting things

"get on over to Markarth were mounting our final attack!"
"get on over to Morthal were mounting our final attack!"
"get on over to Dawnstar were mounting our final attack!"
"get on over to Winterhold were mounting our final attack"
"get on over to Riften were mounting our final attack!"
"get on over to windhelm were mounting our final attack!"
"get on over to Markarth were mounting our final attack!"
"get on over to falkreath were mounting our final attack!"
"get on over to whiterun were mounting our final attack!"
He goes on saying "Our objective is the draw bridge. If we could find find the way to drop it the city will be ours!"
"The walls of Markarth might be high but their age have created weakness or secret entrance . Find them!"

If anyone knows of a good wav hosting company that I can upload some of these wavs files send me a link so you can hear it for yourself.

When I was playing with the CK I discovered all the markers in place for attacks on Markarth and Riften, along with camps, etc. I've not looked at Dawnstar, Morthal or Falkreath though. I always though that the CW quest line should be a lot longer: in many ways it's more important that the MQ.

There's also a LOT of stuff labelled "Arena": variables, etc. Again, I gather this was stuff cut out, rather than a later DLC - although the latter is still possible. I've also found an unused word wall in the foothills north of Lake Illinalta.

I agree. The Civil war saga should've been a lot more longer and more interesting. It's equally important with the Main story, however Bethesda failed at making even the main quest interesting... after all it was easy...even on master level to defeat Alduin. I hope these unheard words and the unused word walls are for future DLC. It would be a shame not to.

There's all sorts of interesting stuff you can't see in-game lying around in various areas, such as the aforementioned assault markers and word wall. I also found a few buildings that are disabled in-game (I know, because I've been there and it's empty) but have triggers attached to them, which implies they were meant for quest use but said quest was never actually created.

I also discovered one of the reasons why dragons sometimes refuse to land and fight: in order to land on a non-flat surface, they require the presence of a 'perch' marker, since, like mining markers, it's used to call the appropriate animation sequence and posture. Since their hit box doesn't fit* in some canyons and the ridges have no perch markers, they can't drop down and fight in some wilderness encounters. Naturally, each active word wall has a perch marker.

*The path-finding algorithm summarily rejects movement commands that would place the actor inside a static, even partially, so dragons cannot land in flat spaces that aren't wide enough to let them do so while facing their current target(s). Players can go to such places, since they're not bound by automated movement routines, but are still subject to the collision rules and as such will be stopped if/when they hit those same statics.

Hidden dialogue like that is totes fascinating. Gives a bit of insight into what could have been or another side of a character.

Considering Erikur is essentially an arms dealer though, I can see why they decided to change that around.

I totally knew we were getting shafted by the civil war! Attacking forts and then saying "we own this hold now" is incredibly cheap and sounds like it was thrown together overnight.

Interesting, thanks.

On a related topic:
I recently saw on tumblr that someone heard dialogue between Erikur's wife and Falk Firebeard. Apparently they've got a thing going on. Can't blame her, being married to that twit.

While we're at the juicy gossip, does anyone think Erikur's mage sidekick is a Thalmor agent? Erikur likes the Thalmor.

I have an idea. Instead of a new area for the DLC, why doesn't Bethesda released the finish content in the current game, complete with more of the CW questlines, the arena, the removed quests, and so on. Oh and giant mud crabs.

Apparently there are hidden quests for college students who didn't make it. That fascinates me. I'd like to do that quest- but it went unimplemented.

I would guess that they removed attacking so many cities in the Civil War questline because it probably broke too many other quests and they couldn't fix it in time.

It's possible that some of those files could be used in expansions. And now you've spoiled it and broken my DLCs.

Another set of Sound clips that I found on Ulfric.

"Vingar we will do whatever I decide in the best interest for skyrim. Are we clear?"
(Not sure if it has been said in the game since I never seen Captain Lonely-Gale in the kings of the palace)

"Captain I've been receiving complaints about this Giordano woman"
"Carry on Lonely-Gale and loosen yourself a bit"

Not sure what prompted this but I assume Viola is trying to get Ulfric himself to hook her up with the poor Captain Lonely-Gale LOL

"I surrender give me a few hours to gather my household and I'll depart. You have my word."
Theirs also a few clips where Ulfric says the same quotes of a stormcloak solider would say when you walk up to them and begin a discussion. Not sure if Bethesda was going to use Ulfrics voice for the male stormcloak soldiers.

Theirs so many to post.

I guess they had Ulfric be more casual and actually speak with the people who visit him in his palace rather than just spend forever planning war and stuff.

I would totally pay a relatively exorbitant amount of money to see that entire scenario added to my game.

I would too but then again I would want Lonely-Gale to pray to his mother (The night mother) to send Viola to sithis :D

HAHAHAHAHA! Best fricken part of the movie! I bet Viola has something similar in her house. I just might have to break into her house later on to find out.

Even for Windhelm residences, her house is remarkably bare and clear of furniture. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a buncha loose floorboards covering the entrance to her Lonely-Gale shrine.

I'm actually glad that got cut, would've interfered with Potema's questline.

The students are mentioned, but there's no formal quest I think? I don't play mages much so I'm not certain. But the official strategy guide tells you where to find them, although it simply says that they are being looked for by one of the mages.

My feeling is, looking at the markers, these were so similar to the other CW quests (go to fort X and liberate it) that it was felt the quest line was too "samey". Since the devs couldn't (or wouldn't) think of other things to do, they felt that five or so attacks was enough, and it really didn't need another six or added.

I think it would have been great if there were infiltration missions, espionage, sabotage, and things of that nature. Especially if they required you to dress up as the enemy.
