[RELZ] Julan, Ashlander Companion

Actually, I would be interested in running both this one and the Romance mod, so is there a patch in the works at all? I'd definitely choose this one over the other (good plot and dialogue > babies), but if there's a way to run both, that would be ace!

I actually did make a patch for a previous version that added dialogue for pregnancy, but it's no longer available, as I don't think it'd be compatible with v. 1.3.

I currently have no plans to revive it, as it was more of an experiment than anything else, but I'll keep it in mind.

I don't blame you, it sounds like it would be rather tricky. Aside from the pregnancy issue, would you say that your mod is compatible with the other at all, or should I just nix the romance mod altogether?

It's perfectly compatible, as long as you don't intend to romance Julan, Shani, or another NPC from Kateri's mod.

Oh, it wasn't that the patch didn't work, it worked fine. I just think getting into that sort of situation with Julan and Shani is more trouble that it's worth! :P

And the Romance mod is perfectly safe to load up alongside the mod, but don't try to use the Romance conversation options on modded companions, as due to the way the Romance mod works, you will get nasty effects like the romance getting broken off at random, and sometimes the companion even attacking you. Anyway, the dialogue is very generic (by necessity!) and totally unsuited to any companion with a personality!

Is Julan still fun to have around when you play the stereotypical self-absorbed Telvanni mage? I mean, I had him around for about an hour with my Warrior before I restarted and he seemed like a pretty nice guy, so I was worried if he and I are gonna disagree on everyone I kill/betray and don't help/save.

EDIT: I'd like to point out that my character is still a human (Well, Elvish) being and not some crazy psychopath running around killing people for fun. He just thinks people should solve their own little problems, and he always places his own needs above those of others. If he sees an innocent person being chased by a Daedroth though, he'd probably save him.

A self-absorbed Telvanni sounds like fun! I think it's more interesting to play a character whose morals run at least slightly counter to Julan's, as conflict is the spice of life, no? Anyway, it's not as if Julan is above being a self-absorbed jerk when the mood takes him - he's no white knight.

This is still the best Morrowind mod ever made. Have you given any thought to expanding his dialog for Tribunal and some more of the guilds?

How do I get Julan back when he dies? He walked into the lich's spell in Firemoth and died but I managed to kill the lich and accidentally saved. Do I just start the mod over?

Kateri, have you considered adding dialogue to Julan for TR Maps? That'd be really cool. And maybe Mournhold too?

Are you sure you don't have an autosave or some other kind of backup save?

Else I think you are pretty much screwed, but I could be wrong.

When Julan dies, he is dead for good. Even if ya spawn a new Julan with the console all the quest NPCs will behave as though he is dead. :(

i think you can clean the death variable out of the savegame with enchanted editor, and resurrect him via console, and he should be able to go about his business as if nothing happened. kateri might need to answer this though.

 I have no clue how to do any of that. I guess Julan passed away for this character. I guess I need to be more careful.

My tip for the future is to always have a backup save or two in case thing like this happens again.

Yeah, this ought to work. Might reset his stats, I'm not sure. You honestly didn't make a new savegame before you fought the LICH in FIREMOTH?? That's like, the hardest opponent Bethesda ever made for that game! I'd never take a companion in there, they'd be dead meat! edit - ah, you resaved over accidentally. The lesson here is keep tons of clean (non quick) saves!

I never save over my old saves myself. I create a new one every time and when I'm around 100 saves I delete all but the last three or so. It has saved my ass a couple of times.

I didn't think the lich would be that hard, it was easy to get to him since everything dies in a few hits, but the lich killed everyone else in one bolt, and Julan with the next. It was intense. I'm sad about Julan and am making a new character staying away from Firemoth!

I'm going to express my love for this mod once more, in the form of (semi-)WACKY HIJINKS!

Hijink the first! I was escorting Itermerel to Pelagiad, and as usually happens when I'm escorting someone with Julan in tow, for whatever reason their speed is increased to match Julan's. (Very helpful, that.) Except he still at one point called out "Wait for me!" and it was at this point that Julan decided to snicker. I have chosen to assume it was at Itermerel rather than at the way my character walks.

Hijink the second! While fighting a cliffracer, suddenly Julan comes plummeting from the sky above the cliffracer, slashing his sword! I assume it had something to do with his warping script, but I like to think of it as Julan suddenly having an anime moment.

Yeah, uh, the wackiness just flows out my ears, can't you tell?

I'm glad that for once I wasn't drinking coffee while reading the forum because if I had, I would be choking on it from laughing at the mental picture.

Wacky hijinks are the BEST KIND of love. :D

Also, I'm utterly convinced that the snickering he does sometimes is absolutely NOT random, as the settings in the editor would try to tell you, but is connected to dumb stuff I do ingame. The coincidence rate is way too high to ignore!

Yeah some of my favorite things that Julan says are "Do I care?" and "Must be going crazy, talking to myself like this..."

I'm at the part just before the Cavern of the Incarnate where I'm supposed to do something regarding Shani, and I have no idea what. I talked to Mashti about her past, and I helped her out by killing her rivals nearby....talked to Shani, went through every dialogue option (with Julan with me) and nothing new came up...no tasks or anything like that. Talked to Julan again after talking to Mashti and Shani, nothing new. Who am I supposed to talk to/what am I supposed to do?

Well she didn't really have any interesting dialogue topics...all the generic ones plus 'Julan Kaushibael' and 'Shani'....to the second one she just said 'that's me' basically, and I can't remember her response for Julan...I remember it was a short biting remark that didn't shed any new light, though.
