We's good people.

Honestly though I disagree with your post. For me KOA is close to being great but falls just short. I do hope Big Huge Games gets the opportunity to continue the series.

Hoping that the game sells well enough for the publisher to give a go on a sequel. I would hate to think that some of the overly negative reviews will keep people from trying the game out. For me, the game has exceeded expectations. Would really like to see another game that addresses the few issues I have with Reckoning.

So I am a couple hours into the game now, and enjoying it. I needed a break from Skyrim so I don't burn myself out, and this is just the ticket (until ME3 hits my mailboxin a month. :D ) This is the fun kind of RPG I enjoy - it will not svck me in for years but it is pretty, easy on the eyes and I am enjoying combat in particular. I went straight-up mage, with chakrams as my main weapon, but the spells I have so far work well. I also, now that I am getting used to it, like the targeting.

This game has the vibe of a combination of games like Ego Draconis and Fable TLC, with some ES stuff thrown around. The art style is pleasing to me - I do prefer Skyrim, or a game like DAO or Witcher 2, but as I said, this game is pretty and I don't know, I am finding it just a pleasure to play.

The questing is pretty simplistic - at least thus far - and I am enjoying the combat but not finding it super-challenging other than the occasional wave event type thing, where five or six mobs spawn while a boss lobs crap at you too. I do find the invisible walls everywhere to be disconcerting... this tree root is lower than my knee - why must I take 8 steps to get around it? I am standing at the edge of a shallow creek... yet I am unable to jump into the water, I have to find an access point. I cannot jump down from one ledge of a ruin to the walk way below... That is sort of constantly reminding me I am playing a game. (Not that I am all omg, my immersion is broken, but it's always just sort of there.)

I got my first house in the middle of some spider infested woods. Fortunately I didn't have to pay for it (other than upgrades which were cheap), but thank heavens I finally have some place to store the loot I had. Lots of loot to pick up in this game... terrible for a magpie like me. Sooner or later I am going to have to splurge and increase that backpack.

Any feedback on the crafting and loot systems? Specifically I'm interested the alchemy skill the most.

I love a game with loot. I was srsly disappointed in Skyrim's lack of loot. I remember getting addicted to Borderlands, just because of ze loot!

Yea, I also noticed it samples a lot of successful RPGs.The thing is though it doesn't excute on all these features so well and when it does the generic qualities holds it back. Still a fun game though, a nice little break from all the more intense RPGs.The art style is a bit of fresh air too, at least for me. I've been playing Skyrim for about 200 hours now and to a see a more vivid art style is nice.

As for the quest well, I go back to what I said before about the game being generic. For the most part they aren't all the interesting but thanks to the enjoyable combat system they are worth finishing. Even the main quest is a bit dull but apparently Roloston wasn't too worried about the writing for the game or so I've heard.

I got the same house as you, that's probably my favorite side quest so far as it's fairly lengthy.

On a side I just ran into something that bothers me.While traveling the road I came across a man who had been robbed. What bothers me is he is gushing blooding out of his neck and lower body at an enormous rate but he still manges to walk around like nothing has happened.

Might be a game bug which slipped by or perhaps its a part of the gameplay which will reveal itself as the player investigates. Guy may have been stabbed by a dagger of perpetual bleeding for all we know

Am playing an Almain male due to their strength in melee and my class at the moment is a brawler with some magic. Am really loving the music which sets the tone of the world and how things run. The dialogue is starting to sound better perhaps due to a consistency in its style and the background music complimenting things so well.

A new patch just came out today 90 megs i believe so i'll probably be starting a new game just to make sure everything is working proper. Great to see the Kingdoms Of Amalur Devs coming out with a patch so incredibly fast after release. Download speed has also been very fast and stable even with other things running in the background like Youtube vids and reading blog sites.

Dokkalfar, level 21, 21 hours played and completely in love with this game.

It reminds me of Fable and DA:2, and I like it more then Skyrim. I have JUST made it to the plains, even.

I have about 20 purples stashed in my bank along with about 15 set items (didn't find out about my bank until like 12 hours in D:)

Loving the loot and everything about it.

You people are making the game sound too interesting... I need to get it now. The problem is this is the first time in nearly a year where I haven't had the money to set aside for an upcoming game I know I want to own a copy of. Maybe I'll ask my mother if she would assist me... play the "I got into a nice university" card. :hehe:

The Eurogamer review hit the nail on the head.

This game is Fantasy that's a breath of fresh air in the face of today's "grittier RPG's".

You play and as your character pulls some of the moves off, especially with the magic, you're just left thinking "Coooooooool".

Right, I'm back off to play somre more now.

Any feedback on the crafting and loot systems? Specifically I'm interested the alchemy skill the most.

All craft skills have 2 parts. Preparation and Execution. Blacksmith has Salvage and Craft, Alchemy has Experiment and Create. Blacksmith is pretty much same as WoW de and create. Alchemy is quite similar to Skyrim, but you don't taste them instead you put them into tests. Each increae in the skill allows your experiment to instead of failing, produce some less effective concoctions. The more milestones you reached, the better are your potions, more likely to harvest ingredients, and more combinations to add up to for different stuff.

It's good, not ingenius, but good enough. Enjoyable and worthy to put points into.

KoA was nowhere on my radar, but ME3 was, so interesting marketing by EA. I am considering it, and watched a few videos. I am wondering if the game utilizes permanent companions to any extent. There seem to be some who may participate in a quest, but are there any permanent companions? A lot of the style also reminds me of DA2, so wondering if there is a party based control aspect when fighting with allies? Dare I ask it for fear of being criticised.... any romance? (Not six/marriage, but simple acknowledgement of the difference between races, species and sixes among the npc's?)

I just completed the house of ballads as a good mage character and am having a real desire to start all over with a not-so-nice character just to see the other choices I could have made.

This is a sign of a good game to me. Having a lot of fun when playing, though there is something missing that I can't quite pinpoint yet. In many games that I love, I experience a sense of time loss. That sense when you stand to stretch and are shocked that 4 hours just went by. I don't seem to get that with this game for some reason. I have a lot of fun playing for a couple hours and then putting it down for awhile while I get things done. Still as much fun to come back to though.

I think I understand what you are saying. But I have long since realized I sort of mentally compartmentalize games. There are some games that just take me right into them, sometimes for hours at a stretch, in the same way a really good book will keep me up reading until 3 in the morning. And I'll go through a period where I wake up in the morning wishing I could stay home and play the game some more, or think about it a lot during the day... but those games are not the norm. A lot of games I buy, play for a good solid length of time - sometimes finish, sometimes don't, and I really enjoy them while I am playing them, but not engrossed by. I like the game, I like more aspects about it than I dislike, I am having fun, the game play is fun... whatever. But when I am done with the game, it's done, I move on to the next game. I get my money's worth of entertainment out of it.

I am working my way through the house of Ballads, having just passed a decision point.

Absolutely fantastic game, I tried the game to see if I liked the first 2 hours of it, and then I rushed to town and bought it, I now have 14 hours played, and am not getting even slightly bored!

Really happy to see that the majority who have bought the game are having good experiences. As for me, it is one of the better games I have played in the last few years. Really enjoying the depth of character development the game allows. I have been playing through most of the side content that I come across, and none of it is really coming off as repititious or boring to me, which is nice.

Can also confirm that there is indeed a nice amount of choice when it comes to certain missions. While it has it's fair share of straight-forward missions, there have been a handful that gave a lot of choice when it came to how you handled things, changing the outcome when everything was said and done.

I have two characters so far my first one is a level 25 Conqueror and a level 18 Sage. I have to say being a mage in this game is quite fun. I was wondering if anyone found any backpacks? So far I've only found one and that was in Gorhart.

Didn't find another until Ysa. And at this point money has become as irrelevant as in a Bethesda game :lmao:

The world is just beautiful.

Look up down and around and the world is just gorgeous.

It's the same feeling you got as you wandered the roads of Morrowind gaping at giant mushrooms.

Get your character to approach the Arch leading to the House of Ballands and make them face the camera and you've got a Kodak Moment (this game is full of them).

I'm like a kid in a candy shop.
