Languages you knowWant to learn

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 6:54 pm

I took three years of Spanish, but would not consider that as knowing the language.
Strangely, the same goes for me.
I used to know a good bit of Latin.

On the 'know' list:
German
Norwegian
Dutch
French
English

I don't want to actively learn any other languages at the moment, but I must admit I used to be intrigued by Slavic languages.

Mandarin or Spanish.
The Spanish are not going to take over the world.

Speak:

Geordie

Yerbuggermar.

I never did find out what that meant. I suspect it was some very deep and transcendental chant. Or something.

English and a little French because you have to learn it up until grade 9 here because the French population is whiny about it.

Also know some ancient Greek (enough to read, as well as to write words and basic sentences) and plan on learning Latin as well.

I'm quite fond of words like "futtock" and "masticate" because they sound really rather rude, but aren't. At all.
Haha, had to look those up. I can't think of any myself at the moment, but they're pretty funny. I notice quite a few funny British words (though not rude-sounding) whilst watching Little Britain as well, such as "kerfuffle".

I speak English, and know enough German to make a complete ass of myself if I tried to speak it.

I'd really like to learn Japanese and Swedish. Japanese is pretty obvious, I mean I watch enough Anime I might as well actually try to pick up the language right?

As for Swedish, well, I have my http://www.hongfire.com/cg/data/25/caramelldansen.swf.

Mother tongue: Polish

I can write in English, at leat to some extent. I haven't spoken it in years.

I also took some Russian and German classes, but that was years ago and all I can remember now is how to greet someone or introduce myself, that's all.

Also, I would want to learn English more, especially pronunciation.

ooohh right, that makes more sense. Most anime use pretty simple vocabulary so you should be able to learn enough japanese to understand most anime in only a couple of months.

I am English and I lived in Spain for 4 years. I used to be basically fluent, I still speak it well, but it's been 3 years since I've really spoken it. I need to get back in to it really.

I'd love to be able to speak French, that's realistic. I'd also love to be able to speak Japanese, that's not realistic though.

Don't even try. There are at least 37 unique clicks and 58 unique stares, most of which you would be physically incapable of producing unless you grew up speaking it.

I know:

Welsh
English

And enough Spanish to get me around. I'd like to expand on it and become fluent however.
