Whilst not exactly a vs thread, if you want to discuss the merits of each group and consider which was better, I am OK with that. I will change the title a little.

They were both great for their time, very different of course but I would have to go with Queen as the better of the two.

If were going pure talent, I think Queen had better vocals. The Beatles had catchy songs. I actually wrote an essay about music not too long ago, and in it I discussed talent of the Beatles and Elvis Presley. Elvis was a more talented vocal singer and had better stage techniques, the Beatles were good at creating catchy songs. Queens put on great shows (my dad and a co-worker have told me their shows were the best they've ever seen), and they had catchy songs. Though, they were a love em or hate em type of group.

I personally don't see it as who's better, they are both great bands that put out some fine music in their time. I look at it more as, who do I prefer more, and the answer to that would be Queen. I've never really been much of a fan of The Beatles, I preferred Lennon's solo work more.

I think the musical and lyrical styles of the two bands are so dissimilar that it's rather hard to compare them or rate one above the other.

Having said that, I like Queen's music more than I do the Beatles.

I think the Beatles are terribly overrated and were only more successful than the countless identical bands of the time because of good marketing and hysterical fans.

Queen, I actually like some of their songs, so they win by default for me.

Queen's a guy???
Several in fact.

I like The Beatles more, but I also love Queen. Freddie Mercury's singing voice was just amazing.

Probably Queen for me: it's hard to do a direct comparison since their (various) styles are really somewhat different, but I find myself preferring Queen's overall vibe. I notice that The Beatles never seem quite as good as I expected when I listen to them, whereas Queen always sound slightly better than I remembered. I'll always have a soft spot for The Beatles' "Something", though, a song that always reminds me of lazy, sunny days I remember from some trips abroad. :)

Queen for me. Brian May has to be one of the most underrated guitarists of all time IMO. At least I never hear anyone talk about how good he sounds in some songs.

Not really a big fan of either, but I hate the Beatles, so Queen.

The Queens vocals are much better and very good harmony. And some of their songs take a bit of organization.

Skill wise Queen.

But I like listening to the Beatles more.

I like the Beatles and all, but I don't necessarily like all the drug related stuff.

Neither. But if I had to listen to one for an afternoon, I'd say the Beatles, because of their influence.

I quite enjoy both, but I'd prefer having Queen to listen to in my car.

Not a fan of Queen. They were basically a good pub rock band, they wrote catchy songs that were easy to sing along to.
The Beatles though were a great band, much more varied and original.

Shades you could be ok. According to Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaimen in their book Good Omens any musical recording left in a car for at least 14 days will transmute into a Queen recording.
