What part of FL, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm on the west side of FL in the central area with Tampa being 10 to 25min away from me depending upon traffic.

Thick sliced apple wood peppered bacon

Now that looks GOOD!

@PredatorX: Ah, ok. Just wondering because I thought I have seen a place that sells clam chowder on the Travel Channel but must of been somewhere else.

Is there anyone here, like me, that vastly prefers Canadian bacon to the crispy variety?

I've no idea what Canadian bacon is. All I'm familiar with is smoked or unsmoked, and streaky or regular; crispy seems to be a product of how it's cooked, in which case I prefer grilled and crispy to fried. And unsmoked, non-streaky.

Guess Canadian Bacon is not the real name. Wiki also says it is also called Cornmeal Bacon

I'm still mostly none the wiser. I did follow the link to the Wikipaedia "bacon" page and the picture they have there looks disgusting! I'm assuming that's not Canadian or any other sort of bacon but rather gristle.

I believe canadian bacon is made from a pork loin which is cured and sometimes smoked and then sliced thin. Most bacon eaten in the US is streaky bacon or from the pig belly.

The http://christinehedley.com/images/bits/lardadvisory.jpg agrees with you! Seriously, though, stuff like lard, goose fat and so on are much better than the "healthier" alternatives, especially when it comes to high-temperature roasting e.g. for spuds and stuff like that. And they taste better.

Yep. How can a natural product be worse for you than hydrogenated nonsense? World's gone mad!

i have gotten into the habit of eating out at fast food places for lunch every day, actually lately not as much since several people have asked me the question "why are you not dead", mostly jack in the box.

but when i don't eat fast food i like canned soup, mostly clam chowder and chicken noodle. i may start making myself some ham sandwiches since i love ham and we have a bunch in my fridge.

Right now I'm eating a sandwich called All-American Grinder from Wal-Mart. It has virginia ham, oven roasted turkey, colby cheese, lettuce, tomoato, pickle on a cheddar cheese bread loaf. It's pretty damn good. Wasn't sure if I was gonna like it or not.

I work third shift, so my lunch is kind of like my dinner a lot of the time. I usually stick with the same foods. Sometimes it's different but not so much.

-Campbells Chunky Soup is something I have at least once a week, usually more. Usually stick with the beef flavors.
-Pizza is something I usually have once a week, or once every other week. Pepporoni and cheese always. If it's on sale I get Tombstone brand with stuffed crust.
-Chicken Voila frozen skillet meal usually once every two weeks or so..it's basically chicken with a noodle I can't remember the name too, it's spiraly..carrots, brocoli all covered in cheese. It's one of my favorites but I got kind of sick of it after a while.
-A beef skillet meal, has beef, gravy, green beans, carrots and some other stuff in it..this I also have once every two weeks or so.
-Sandwich of some sort. Usually PB&J, or some type of turkey sandwich from the grocery store, almost always has cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomato on it. Sometimes I get Subway, there it's turkey or BLT.
-Chinese food in a box that you can get in the freezer section. Brand is called Tai Pei and I usually get combination fried rice or sweet and sour chicken.
-Rice, usually flavored rice like chicken or cheddar
-Encore (or Banquet) Salsibury Steak frozen meal. I usually eat 3 patties at home before work, then 3 for lunch at work. Usually with a vegetable of some sort or potatoes.
-Every once in a while I'll have fast food, and when it's that it's usually Arby's roast beef, or Taco Bell's grilled steak stuft burrito.

That's generally what I have. Sometimes I get lucky and have a homemade meal, from home..or my grandparents house. Like earlier this week I had my grandma's vegetable soup which was great. Sometimes I get meatloaf (one of my favorites), on holiday's I get those leftovers. So the homemade meal category has many different foods in it haha.

snip

Tei Pei egg rolls are pretty good, and I believe it's the same brand that I used to get the General Tsao's chicken. Absolutely amazing, but the sauce is probably the stickiest substance known to man. Also, Tombstone pizza is the best. Boston Market has probably the only good TV dinners in existence as well.

Mongolian beef & pork fried rice.
A good won ton soup w/those broad green leaves in it - not sure what the green leaf is. Spinach? Pea pod leaves? (the broth must not be too "cloudy")
Beef tacos from a good taco truck, with the red sauce, onions, cilantro & extra jalepeno's.
Viet. deep fried pork spring rolls, preferably ones made with the thin rice paper, not the thicker spring roll wraps.
Thick sliced pastrami for a killer ruben sandwich (substitute sourdough bread for the rye, tho)

What? I can't stand rye bread/rye seeds. It tastes yuckky/overpowers the other flavors. :P
...although a very very light rye is tolerable. Dark/brown rye tho...ick.

... the way you worded it sounded the other way around. I thought you meant that you preferred Rye to Sourdough.

Edit: Or the way I read it, I'm not sure.

Ah...heh. Gotcha.

The only time I liked rye was when I used to make a http://hostedmedia.reimanpub.com/TOH/Images/Photos/37/exps4669_BBS64403C16.jpg Mixed with the other two bread flavors like that it worked ok for the tastebuds. No seeds.

Ha, exactly!

Plus, refried beans made without lard? No point.

I know - I hate those vegetarian refried beans. :yuck: If you're going to do Mexican right the beans need to be refried with "manteca'.

I like those little can's of Deviled Chicken you get at the gas station (with the red devil on them). Slap that on some toast with a tomato slice, some basil, and another piece of toast. Mmmmm....

Of course, I can't say no to some grilled cheese (Swiss cheese, oregano, and shallots on some good 'ol white bread...Mmmmmmmmmm....darn, I'm hungry now)
