Mass Effect #55

I hated that the Hammerhead regenerated you actually had o use omni-gel to repair the mako. Plus I loved getting to explore the snow planets in ME1.

The problem in ME1 is that is has too much equipment with too little variation, and it dropped way too often. Inventory management was a chore in that game...

And then we have ME2 with too little equipment, though with more variation. If they added more equipment ME2 style then that would be ideal.

I agree. ME2 had good stuff, just not enough good stuff. It made unlocking new weapons boring and I never felt accomplished when I received a new one since there was no dramatic increase in power or anything. Just a changed rate of fire and ammo capacity.

Anyways, just pre-ordered the Digital Collectors Edition (Digital Deluxe I guess?) of ME3. Don't have enough time to go to the store, I'm too lazy

Alright I pre-ordered ME3 today. I tried to order the collector's edition but they were sold out, but said if i put at least $10 down and come back Saturday or Sunday and ask again if they have a copy available (after they get the shipment in) they'll put it down for me. I'll be there early Saturday morning and hopefully they have it. Otherwise I'll have to buy the day one DLC as well (and miss out on the other cool stuff).

Collectors editions are sold out everywhere, best of luck to you. They were in the category of very scarce. I'm defining very scarce as in how much food will be left in a shopping mall after a real apocalypse happen, and this is three weeks after the apocalypse.

Which is exactly why I got the Digital Collectors edition. :P

I don't get the patch or fancy case, but those would just end up cluttering a shelf anyways, so I'm content with the digital version knowing that I'm guaranteed all the game content from the CE edition and the pre-order bonuses.

So in preparation for ME3, I decided to go through the games again. I really want to bring a character through, but idk if I should play as a guy or girl. If I play as A guy, there's always Miranda romance in ME2 and new awesome Ashley in ME3.....then there's fem-Shep, who has the freckle-sixiness that reminds me of Chandra Nalaar (Look for the Profile Picture that Steve Argyle has on his own site if you need a reference.)

I guess I'll flip a coin.

PS-This will be my 1st playthrough ME2. I've owned it for about 6 months and never got around to it due to other games (for which I'm ashamed of).

PS.b-Does anyone know If there has been announced rewards for bringing a true-max character through from ME2. I know you gain a HUGE amount of bonuses if you brought a level 60 character with the rich achievement over from ME1, and I just wanted to know if I should flash through 2 playthroughs with ME2 as well.

I did a complete playthrough of ME1 through to ME2 last fall, just for the hell of it. Enjoyed it immensely. ME1 UI and stuff is dated, but man, such a fun game. :) And ME2 was just as fun, but in a different way. Kind of non-stop rollercoaster. Had fun in all my play throughs. A bit tentative for ME3, but the CE was pre-ordered for me as an xmas gift, so I am excited to get it.

Soon, there will be only http://andrew-stewart.ca/countdown/ days left. Looking at the clock with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9jet3b3tjg&list=PL1B5A07FF6840E602&index=2&feature=plpp_video playing is making me want to play so bad. No ambiance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uorR5Cn4a-Q&feature=bf_next&list=PL1B5A07FF6840E602&lf=plpp_video.

I hated the Mako. That thing was just too clunky to operate. I mean it's a tech advanced era that still runs around on unexplored worlds in an ATV with a Caterpillar engine and Goodyear tires? I NEVER killed anything in that thing. I parked it and went in on foot, even Thrasher Maws. The hammerhead was not a big improvement either. A hover craft that only gets a few feet off the ground? Are you kidding me? A Taxi would be more viable. Replace the fair meter with a laser rifle and you have something.

I agree, the Mako was a major pain in the neck to drive. Not to mention the terrain they made for the worlds was ALWAYS mountainous and ridiculously hard to navigate.

I have no problems with it at all. Weee, Mako mountain climbing extreme challenge! I've used it on both 360, and PC. No problems. I even climbed an 89.999~ slope once. It took a long ass time, but I did it. Got to somewhere I really shouldn't have.

Does anyone else think that the Adept is almost useless in the multiplayer?

Maybe it's b/c I'm still only lvl 15 but it seems Soldiers are getting all sorts of medals and points etc. My abilities seem to be useless in the grand scheme of things. I can use singularity to hold off some of the guys but for the most part my abilities don't do as much damage etc.

Honestly dude, the human adepts are garbage IMO. singularity is not what it used to be. You're better off saving up for veteran packs and attempting to get the Asari Adept. Stasis has to be one of the most ridiculous powers in this game - being able to stop anything thrown at you except for an Atlus straight in its tracks.

Stasis + Sniper Rifle / heavy pistol = Easiest headshots you'll ever get. That and it's hilarious to use throw on enemies as they land on the balcony, launching them off and giving you the kill.

The mako's ok but a pain in the butt to control sometimes. My biggest problem with the mako is the loss of experience that you get when you kill enemies with it.

I'll wait to do my ME1 and ME2 playthroughs if ME3's default doesn't offer me enough. I really don't want to deal with ME2's mine scaning.

I've actually had a lot of fun as a human adept. Singularity spam is one of the most effective ways to keep a choke point locked down without backup. From there it's just target practice. The only hard part is if you run into centurions or engineers, and even then their shields are easy to strip away with an SMG or Assault Rifle so they are affected by your powers.

Adept is amazing, though expect to get more assists. I only use the heavy pistols. M-5 Phalanx with scope attachment. It's more accurate and powerful than a rifle. Borderline sniper rifle, but with a faster reload. A level 1 version of this gun was able to smoke anything thrown at it on bronze/silver. If I leveled it up a bit I'm sure gold would have been a cake walk too. Using only one gun let me cast singularity/warp bomb detonations like a madman.

Detonations don't seem to help much in gold. I got adventurous with a few friends of mine and played some gold. I personally liked how centurians were taking 2 headshots........when all they had was health left.

Gold = Gears of War Horde Mode on Insane

I'm not trying to convert anyone, but once you get an Asari Adept and you stasis - Widow combo on them, you will see your points just jackhammer.

Navigation was horrid, indeed. The lack of XPs is another thing. I still done it and climbed over near vertical cliff faces, but it was not enjoyable at all. Then again I don't get into car/race/off road games either.

Which brings up another point. You go from an "OMG, I'm in the game" feeling, to a "DIRT" off-road game. That is more immersive breaking than being disturbed in the middle of a fight, by a knock at the door or a phone call.

The planet scanning was tedious, but you have got to have something. What that is exactly?...IDK.

Maybe a marriage of a Shuttle - Taxi - Cannon - Scanner.

I know what you mean, which is why i always use the save game editor in ME2 to give myself enough minerals for the researchs :hehe:

Phew, completed a 100% run on ME2. Finally. All DLC, every fricking planet and quest visited and done, Renegade bar maxed and Paragon almost as well. Sentinels kick ass.
Kinda pissed that haven't done Bring Down The Sky, news feeds keep telling about how everyone died. Hope it will be irrelevant to ME3.

Heh. I'd seen a couple untranslated pages on Kotaku. I'd guess some of it is iffy translation, but the text seems a bit... off. Of course, it's not really trying to be that serious, I'd guess.
