Mass Effect #57

Spoiler
Javik is the most annoying [censored] in existence. How did their species conquer anything? Because they got lucky enough to evolve an ability to allow them to absorb information fast. Not through any application of skill. I can see why they died now, too firm. You bend them and they break, no bend in the blade. No flexibility to change their stubborn idiotic ways. I honestly think if they didn't have their neat little absorbing trick they would never have become to dominant species of their time.

Spoiler
I actually like how normal he apparently is. It's a clever little comment on the way we romanticise and mythologise the past. As you point out, the Protheans aren't remarkable. And why should they be? +1 to Bioware for subverting a trope.

I have made it through the half way point. That being, the rescue from the demo. I like the less informed and general flags on the map, for the Cit quests. It makes me look and actually think some. I had fun with Aria's tasks. I liked her and Tela Vasir from ME2. I guess I have a soft spot for the whole Bad Girl in Blue image.

I am still having major issues with this damn multi function to one button thing. It is REALLY irritating the Hell out of me. My Vanguard is an absolute one man army. I don't even worry about my Squadies. He has a maxed out Fortication, Charge, and Assault. With the melee bonuses and just a pistol, he is charging almost non stop. I love it.

What i don't get is the Omni Blade. Where is it? The heavy melee just shows a blue aura about the fist. Like a Biotic effect. The Omni Blade does not show up. I guess that is something I must find. Not really a question to be answered, just throwing it out there. I will find out for myself, I guess.

The MP thing sux. It should have nothing to do with the SP game. I'm not a fan of that to start with. I think that that type of game should be a stand alone game in itself. It should not be part of this game at all. The time spent on that could have went towards the actual ME3. Instead we have a lot of little things like NPC talking to each other and facing a different direction. More content for the SP game. But this really makes me despise the MP of anything. I'm not trying to sound like and ass. It's just the way it is. I don't fault those that like that sort of thing, just keep it where it belongs.

Can someone answer a cou;le of questions for me about abilities?

First: In multiplayer and single player when I try and use Biotic Charge sometimes it just doens't do. I hear this sound and the icon on the action bar lights up but the sound is like something you would hear if there was a problem. But this happens even when the enemy is right in front of me with nothing blocking the way or my powers aren't on cooldown.

Second: With the classes that have Reave I was wondering if I was right to make the conclusion that it is completely useless against the Geth. Which kinda svcks.

Well, that ending has svcked out any desire to continue playing. Seriously terrible. I won't say much more because of spoilers, but don't rush to get to the end. Enjoy the game while you still can!

Okay, so that might be a bit melodramatic.
there are 16 different endings
you have to have a score over 5000 to get the best.. and thats still 3 different choices
those who used a prior save from ME2 may not have to do MP
but to get the best endings.. slow down.. do all the hud, side and N7 quests
and get the strategy guide.. that helps with all of the quests and locations
decisions will have impact

Does this game have any ME1 elements? I loved the first game.

Some. There are guns and armor pieces you can buy or find, not as much guns as in 1, but they have the functional variety of the guns in 2. You can modify guns like in 1, though ammunition changes are still powers. You gain experience when completing objectives, not only when finishing missions, meaning you can level up during a mission. Shields and health are separate again, and health regenration may not automatically fill your whole health, depending on the amount of damage you take (health is divided into five bars, and only the one currently damaged replenishes automatically, empty ones need Medi-gel).

Vanguards and Adepts don't have an omni-blade. They have a biotic heavy melee attack, instead.

I have the same problem too. It keeps telling me to go to the terminal in the embassy but I can't activate it when I get near it.

This quest was broken for me the first time I attempted it. I went to the terminal near the entrance to the embassies before using the one in the Spectre HQ. This made it so the quest could not progress. You have to first activate an item on the Spectre terminal, then continue with the quest. Fortunately, I figured this out before I had gone too far, and had a save to fall back on.

I do still have a broken quest on the Citadel called Heating Unit Stabilizers that is broken and I can't turn in. Some of the quests in that area weren't tested very well.

I'm having a blast with the game though. Vanguard is as fun as ever.

He isn't normal, he and his species suffer from delusions of grandeur. I find him ironic. Only the strongest survive, so he should have loved the Reapers then. Or the fact that the new species are surviving better than their old Empire. He's a relic of his period, unchanged for 50,000 years. Completely useless, a lesson of what not to do. Yet despite his pathetic existence and delusional beliefs he has the gall to act superior when he's his own best testament to survival of the fittest. I would have liked to see a reasonable member of their species, not this chest pounding herp a derp. Hell even a dock worker would have provided more crucial context than Mr. Kill everything in sight is the only solution. Geez, with that kind of garbage logic and thought it would be easy enough for the Reapers to think around them.

warning some side quests are time limited.. so do then when you get then
IGN has a walkthru started for side quests
and porting a save from ME2 puts you at 50% war assets

Interesting - thanks! Didn't realise that about the import...

From what I've read the side quests that are time sensitive are only up til about the half way point of the game. I think.....?

there are 3 acts
i assume but do not know
that they may be specific to that act
since i have the strategy guide, i know what i need to complete
as even within that act i believe there are quests that i would not be able to finish as i know whats coming up

i now have wrex [and friend] and the missions next will lead to heartbreak for me
so instead i will finish all outstanding side quests
in ME2 i kept everyone alive and i am meeting them
they do make a difference in the outcome if you kept them alive

and i still am in the beginning of act 1

hate the reaper attacks when you visit the different systems

Not trying to be a jerk here, but google "Mass effect wiki" then type the mission into the search bar, and viola
Dude, really? What is this "google" you speak of? But seriously, it's an ME3 thread, I come here like the rest of you to ask questions or talk about things I am finding (or not finding in the game.) In addition, the Mass Effect Wiki is missing lots of information as of yet, with the game just being released. And I don't always want to jump there and get spoiled for other stuff.

Anyway... my point was with minimal information in your side quests, if you interpret Minimal as pretty much no information or frame of reference, there is very little to go on, other than a general area in some cases, like when it says "Citadel", you kind of hope the quest is within the Citadel. (But sometimes it isn't, you have to fly out somewhere, ping an area and hope to randomly retrieve some small item then eventually make your way back to the Citadel to turn it in.) In my second example, it turns out the quest is broken. Which... I did go look up after continuing to try and solve it, turns out the quest is borked - info that is not on the wiki - but that I found in a random forum post elsewhere.

I do hope they fix that but who kows. I am not inclined to do multi-player and I really want to do as many missions as possible. Plus it was fun seeing Kasumi again and unless that quest can progress, I won't get any more dialog with her.

Not sure, but i've had time to complete every mission so far simply by leaving missions marked "Priority" last. Ironically :lmao:

And the map marks people you need to talk to or items you need to interact with in sidequests. It doesn't pinpoint them, though. For example,

Embassies
5 Office Suite
Terminal

So a terminal you need to use is somewhere in the office area.

Yeah, the quest I am talking about is broken. Map points to a terminal in the Embassy area, but it does not activate One person's theory is that if you get the original mission and do the initial action, where Kasumi says she will accompany you cloaked, but then leave the citadel to go do other stuff, the quest breaks. Seems to have done so in my case.

Is the volus quest to the Shrike Abyssal to get a prothean obelisk timed? I didn't do it immediately and now the Abyssal is showing 100% assets picked up, and the scanners aren't picking up anything

edit: nevermind. I'm an idiot. I just forgot to go back to the volus :P

I have already done this part, but should we not use spoilers around characters like her?

I agree and besides it has only been out 2 days as of right now. Not much new info of quests posted on wiki.

I seem to remember being stuck there too, but found another terminal in another floor that got it going.

Oh the terminal quest, sometimes it glitches out. It points to one place, but if you activated the first console the quest can still proceed. Then again others have said it didn't for them at all. So terminal 1 is in the embassy by the hanar on the other side of the glass. Terminal 2 is down in the refugee camp. For me it was right in the blue scanning wall area. Terminal 3 is all the way at the end of the refugee area on a wall. And then finally I had to go back to terminal two, and then the embassy. All the time my journal marker was screwed up but it still let me do the quest.

I've seen others say their terminals were different in terms of location, but at least this is something.

Are you in Europe? The release date isn't until tomorrow here.

Edit: Post limit. Maybe you can answer that in the next thread. :P
