Mass Effect #57

What? I'm only asking if the game is like the abomination released as a demo.
And I answered.
There I highlighted everything you said that matters.

No, you don't have to worry, the demo is not what the majority of the game is like. Sure the first two hours or so are combat heavy and lack any real RPG elements but it picks up after that. I don't know if the series can get back on par with the first ME but from what I've played the game is very good.Don't take the Metacritic reviews seriously, that site has some real issues.

I know, and edited the post above the one I'm quoting to indicate that =P

the sad part of ME3 is I am enjoying this game more then Skyrim. I was a longtime fan of TES till BGS tore it apart and made it just another generic swords and sorcery rpg. I have only played a couple hours of ME3 and it IMO is more compelling and emotionally charged then TES 5. Hate to say it Todd, but with all your so called improved streamlining and removing features, ME 3 is a better game by far. Atleast Bioware got it right this time and stop streamlining crap and actually added features back into the series.

Mass Effect 3 cannot successfully determine the custom face code used by this imported save game. Please update your character's appearance.

What is this?! Are you kidding me?

So Bioware was conscientious enough to import many decisions your character made, just not...you know...your character.

After all the time spent playing ME1 and ME2 and the anticipation of playing ME3, I can't even play as my Shepard? I couldn't even play the demo because it didn't feel right to play even 5 minutes as a generic Shepard.

If anyone has any thoughts on how to get past this, I'd really appreciate it. Supposedly you can try to get the Face Code from Mass Effect 2, but I don't even know how to do that.

I hope they fix this, it's a borderline dealbreaker for me, to be honest.

It's currently being resolved according to Bioware. I was angry at first but it was actually pretty easy to recreate my Shepard.

You can actually be nice to her and gain her as a war asset in this game too. Quite the turnaround for Miss Al-Jilani.

I can't get my faux Shepard even close to the original.

In the meantime, does anyone know where I can find the face code for my Mass Effect 2 character? It isn't on the top left
of Shepard's profile in the Squad Screen, like some suggested.

I tried that during the demo. I don't think it throttles the difficulty to account for the number of players on the server, so you should always try to get 4 players before readying up.

I agree. ME3 is by far better than ME1 and ME2, even Skyrim. It seems that everything I wanted from ME1 to be in ME2 that wasn't is now in the game.

I'm fifteen hours in and I've barely touched the Main Plot. I just finished up fighting with Aralahk Company and now I'm going to Tuchanka for the first time (won't spoil anything about why I'm going there though ;) ).

So as I have mentioned before, this is my first EVER playthrough of Mass Effect 2. Anybody have any recommendations on class type? I'll be sitting here for the next 2 hours trying to decide for myself.

It's really your decision. I'd recommend playing as a soldier. You'll get to adjust to how the game works. You'll be able to decide what class you want to play as next playthrough because you get to see how your teammates work through their classes.

If you're playing on any difficulty higher than Normal, don't bother playing an Adept. Most of their abilities require the enemy to be naked, and on higher difficulties, most have at least one form of defense up, like armor, shields, or barriers.

I'd also advise against playing as a Vanguard for your first run. Depending on who you are, they could end up as awesome but impractical, or difficult but awesome; either way, they're not a good class for a beginner.

Waiting for a decent price drop, considering the whole day 1 dlc thing rubbing me the wrong way. Friend bought it, and I got to play a fair bit of it today. Have to say that I rather liked it. Think they made a number of changes for the better, really. My only real issue is their need to over-sixualize most female characters in the game. Not to mention you can seemingly bed anything with a at least one spoken line of dialogue.

I'd suggest sentinel. It's the easiest. Also, it's cool. You get holo-armour!

Good god, this game is astounding.

I got shivers, or goosebumps when.
Spoiler
Landing on Palaven's moon. The whole atmosphere of that quest was astounding. To the Reapers leisurely walking around killing Turians/blowing up ships. The hopelessness of it all, and the burning planet far above.

Also damn, Adepts got one hell of a buff in ME3. I can in a pinch solo points as an Adept on Insanity. Yes! This is my reward for struggling through Insanity on ME2. Muahahah! I am a bitotic god. I can throw two throws at once and they actually do something. /mad with power.

Looking at a certain section of their forums, you can't knock them for this, it's a sterling piece of fan-service. :whistling:

I have to say I'm really really pleased with the game. I got so bummed yesterday when reading all the total negativity towards the game that I was actually dreading playing it in case I lost interest early on. But I've played it for about 3 hours now and just love it. I know I'm a massive girl but the relationship aspect of it has really been worked on - there was a lot of detail in the early game with my Femsheps relationship with Kaidan. Just little glances and comments that make it stand out.

The only thing that's bugged me so far is the combat when I'm in a tight area. The rolling between cover when all I want to do is stand up and shoot is frustrating but not so much so that I'd stop playing - I just have to get used to it.

My only real question is:
Spoiler
Timed quests - I noticed someone on the Bioware forums mentioned that some quests are time sensitive. I just got the quest from the Volus barkeep on the Cidatel where he said I could save and recruit some mercs. But he said 'they won't hang around forever'. Should I assume this is timed then? Because I've gone to the system he mentioned they were in but there's no indication of what planet they're on...and nothing in my journal about it? Any advice?

Bye bye Skyrim, FO3 and Dead Island I will not be seeing you for awhile.
I am playing Mass Effect now then I be playing ME2 to get ready for ME3 that I'll be getting tomorrow.
Oh tomorrow, oh tomorrow, oh god I cannot wait. All of this wine is making me dizzy all over, oh ME3 its going to be good.
I been playing this series since 2009 and cannot believe its going end.
All of those play through that I done.
Oh golly me I forget what I done.
Its going to be very interesting.
Oh time will tell.
So good-bye Skyrim, FO3 and Dead Island I won't be seeing you for a while.

:)

It's really dividing people on the Bioware forums. Some are playing 2 hours and saying it's so bad they can't go on, others are saying they stopped before the last mission because they literally can't bear the thought of the series ending.

Personally I just love it - really really enjoy your first playthrough. :)
