Mass Effect Thread #54

If I pre-order a digital download on ME3 from Gamestop will I get the Gamestop exclusive pre-order items that you get with the retail disc? I'm pretty sure that they do come with it, but just checking sure.

I would just pre-order it on Origin but I like the GS bonuses much better.

Got my collectors edition at Futureshop. It is missing the one piece of DLC from EB Games (gamestop). However, I get an awesome collectors steelbook case for the entire series. Not to mention I have a way and will get the DLC stuff from EB anyways, so I get it all. Woot.

So apparently the Prothean squadmate has been released early. Didn't Biofail learn from the last time? Guess they didn't. :shakehead:

Blame EA. Not BioWare. They're the ones behind marketing.

I have no idea, is there Futureshop's there? If not, I seriously doubt it.

So we don't have to get the collectors edition to get the prothean squadmate? I really hope that is the case.

So forgive me for sounding stupid cause om not that all into the mass effect lore. But didn't all the protheans die? So wouldn't that be anti lore.

Possibly a collector somehow reverted? or one of the pods on Illos somehow survived?

Spoiler
From what I understand from various sources, you find him in cryo. I doubt it has anything to do with Ilos though since Vigil had to disable life support on most of the pods and the survivors ended up starving to death on the Citadel.

probably in some cerberus facility. The illusive man seems to be the kind of guy who would hide something like that

pretty peaved right now cause I can not get the collector's edition unless I pay some a hole 300 or 400 dollars on amazon now. every site and store is saying sold out for mass effect 3 CE. Yet people I know were getting the Skyrim CE up until a couple weeks before and that game was selling like mad. WTF!?!?! Bioware, ever heard of making more copies so everyone has a chance without geting stiffed on places ebay or amazon.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Gamestop still have some N7 CE edition's left? Just pre-ordered mine for PS3. (Only because the Prothy DLC tipped me in favor of it, since I would buy the DLC anyways. Might as well get a robot dog too)

Also, I guess http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_05841492000P?prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1 has it too.

DLC squadmate, has been released on XBL accidently.

http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/323/index/9382439/1

800 MSP, becuase the dld didnt cost you enough.
So the DLC is already done before the game is even released. There's absolutely no reason it shouldn't be included with the game, except to charge you more for "extra" content that's been purposely removed.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't that the DLC that is free for people who buy the game new? Like Zaeed and Shale were in ME2 and DA:O.

Anyway, in preparation i went and bought the Arrival DLC for ME2. Kind of ironic considering Bring Down the Sky. It could've used more explaning on how the you-know-whos used the artifact to you-know-what, but atleast it explained few things on ME3's beginning. And bonus points for acknowledging that space is [censored] big without the magical travel system. Should've said "decades or centuries" but then poor Shepard would die of old age long before they could start their rampage :hehe:

Nope. It's only free to those who buy the CE and the DD. Everyone else has to pay $10 for it.

Sounds like some people are mad and have forgotten the meaning of PRE-Order. To the planners who bought theirs months ago and can now watch people squirm as they can't find any. To the prepared go the spoils. :foodndrink: Occams razor, I'm going to apply it here. You think the companies have some gigantic scheme to make less games that way what stock they have will sell more, even though they could just make more and guarantee more sale sin the long term. Instead of the simple fact that, perhaps that's just all they produced and it's entirely your fault for not PRE-Ordering. I mean this is one of the few times when you actually needed to. On their forums and across the internet I've seen and been telling people to get on with their laziness and go pre-order, or risk not getting any. But oh no, that's too hard to do. So let's all go to the internet and whine at their failure to not make more games just for you people who didn't PRE-order.

This is in regards to some older posts from yesterday.

I thought this was a non-spoiler thread? (I don't care, I'm just wondering about how some of the other forumites are going to react when they accidentally read that there's X... ) Seriously, though, I'm curious... I haven't kept up with any of the lore.
Spoiler
Are Protheans definitively the oldest sentient race in the entire universe? That would explain why they look like a combination of all of the other races. If not, why do they look like a combination of all the other races?

You think the companies have some gigantic scheme to make less games that way what stock they have will sell more, even though they could just make more and guarantee more sale sin the long term.

It's not about the long term. It's about results, now, no excuses.

Or, to look at it another way, they're letting people get the digital content from the CE, instead of just saying "Sorry, only people who bought the CE can ever have that."

Or they could have just included it in the game and/or not limited the amount of CEs. :)

People defending them cutting content, just to sell it as dlc. Wow just wow. Have some self respect.
I wonder if people are like this with other purchases they make where you actually support not getting the full product, despite paying for it.

I've rarely believed in the whole "OMG, they cut The Content We Deserve just to Charge Us Extra?" conspiracy theories.

Of course, I also tend to skip most DLC.

Day one DLC that includes a very special kind of companion lore wise (which obviously was made during the development of the game and cut out after) is just insane. And $10? What the hell?

I was willing to deal with crappy pre-order DLCs and minor crossover stuff from the iOS game but this is too much. This is actual important content, a
Spoiler
Prothean!
companion and quest.

It's included in the collector's edition for 'free', but that edition is 20 dollars more expensive than the standard edition.

If it had been like in Mass Effect 2 (A bunch of DLC that was free if you bought a copy that isn't second hand) that would've been okay. But this is over the line.

Oh it gets better. People didnt think that was the dlc character, becuase those guys are pretty tied in with the plot.
I am now interested, in seeing how one would play ithout that character.
