The Reach is unseasonably warm, making the outfit less absurd than people make it out to be.
I've never seen an official weather report for the Reach, but to me, I get the impression that it's cold and damp. Not what I would consider good weather for a fur bikini.
I'm with Mitheledh on this one. It looks damp and cold, not humid and hot.
There's a loose pad of fur they wear over their chest to protect against thrusts. The sides are still bared, as is much of the chest and belly.
Compare the female and the male outfits. Every society is much more comfortable with men baring more skin than women. If the society leans toward practicality, women will be as covered as the men. So it appears that the society is a more ritualistic one, instead -- as you point out, the men do "show skin", too -- but then the men should have as little clothing as the women.
Of course there are societies that have a happy medium of practicality and ritualism, but this doesn't seem to have been the intent with the Forsworn. There seems to have been some confusion -- or deliberate compromise -- between the lore and the actual presentation.
Actually, no. It's more like the point of being a thief is not being noticed. There's a difference. Sometimes it just means blending in and remaining inconspicuous. A good pickpocket should be able to steal your coinpurse while looking you in the eyes. In something as flamboyant as the nightingale armor, you'll never be inconspicuous.
I agree. I think the dev team decided for style over substance on the Nightingale front. Which is a valid design decision. You have to visually establish the specialness of special items in some way, and outlandishness is the most obvious flag.
I already said that http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197988732882/screenshot/649876689769992010?tab=public. Not that i'm complaining... Whistling:
I haven't even seen that armour yet. I
have to play as a female in my next playthrough. Women have the weirder outfits!
