Most of the emoticons are pretty bad

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 7:57 pm

They... what? I think you're missing a "p" there...
I thought he actually meant rapin', but didn't understand what it had to do with the emoticon.

Also, wow. This place is pretty active. I'm surprised my puny little "I don't like the emoticons" thread would get 100 replies in a day or two.

I'd say it's high time they add an arrow-in-the-knee emoticon.
Seconded. They can simultaneously go about removing the "junk post"-flavoured emoticons, as per the above poster's suggestion.

Thirded: I think it's fair to say the forum needs that emoticon. Er, for its very survival and stuff.

And some of the junk ones could do with pruning...

I'd want one that shows a Wanamingo eating a stereotypical 50's short green alien.

Edit: This has become the new battle in the Fallout forums.

In other news, why is everyone so intent on pruning the selection? Is it harmful to have so many emocons that we don't use? Isn't it nice to have options?

It just makes it laborious to find the appropriate emote. Especially for people like me, whose attent

I think perhaps the most effective emoticons are the :violin: (tends to make people pretty angry if you're lampooning them for whatever they're complaining about) and :stare: (because you see it a lot with the mods when they're threatening warning/bans).

My personal favorite has always been :intergalactic:, too bad its difficult to find places to use it...

I'm having trouble imagining a scenario in which :turtle: would ever be appropriate.

Apart from a TMNT discussion.

The turtle is usually the reward for getting a Morrowind/Oblivion quiz/riddle right. Not sure how that one developed, but it certainly has a specific purpose.

Wait, what about the Fallout forums?
There are lots of battles in the Fallout forums, but a big one is whether or not aliens should be in Fallout. The battle gets loud and quiet, but it doesn't seem to just die.

Is this some kind of game about which I should know?

Is there such a thing as a self-possessed turtle? And what does it mean to call somebody an owl? Is it because they're... a hoot?

You haven't played http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frogger? :o It's a kind of RPG for, er, frogs. That like to play with the traffic. And floating logs and things.

Now there's some memories. Spotted owls, noble seamstresses, fudge-on-a-rope, and...hmm, can't quite recall the rest. Something about hamsters?
