Most of the emoticons are pretty bad

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 2:40 pm

I'm not a huge user of emoticons or anything, but I wonder what the chances are that these boards will move on from looking like it's 1999 - these are some pretty bad emoticons. I guess it's hard-coded into whatever engine these boards are based on (a lot of sites have these emoticons, minus the Fallout and Elder Scrolls specific ones).

To be fair, this kind is fine:
Or this: :yuck:
Nice and clean...

However, I could do without ever again seeing celebratory posts featuring five hundred of these:

What do you guys think?

Nope, almost all forum software allows you to add or change emoticons.

I prefer other packs, myself, but I've learned to live with this one. I've got too many in my own collection to sort through, so yeah... >.>

Wait, we (the users) can add our own emoticons? You mentioned your own collection, is that what you meant?

No, I meant the forum managers. Sorry for the confusion.

Edit:

I can't seem to get my thoughts right on what I mean so I just changed it to managers and will leave it at that >_>

You could probably hack something together to do that, but it'd only change them for you.

And @ Defron, I do miss how  doesn't blink anymore.

People probably complained that it discriminated against them.

I just don't quite know who selected them, and why... like, why is there a Homestar Runner emoticon on the Bethesda boards? :cheat:

:stupid: And this one seems to have some horrible white pixels left over on it.

Anyway, this wasn't a very serious thread... I'm not really annoyed or anything.
