New Dawnguard information-Secrets of the Vampire.

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 5:02 pm

In my honest opinion, werewolves shouldn't even be able to revert back to their human forms until next morning. But thankfully Bethesda backed up the reason why the werewolves in Skyrim are different from Bloodmoon and Daggerfall with the Glenmoril Witch pact fact.

I think that should be the case for forced transformations caused by the full moon(s), but with the willing transformations I think there should be a greater degree of control, though it would be cool if transforming too many times at will could cause a beserker rage or loss of control.

I hope they include wild werewolves who can give you the regular form of lycanthropy if you've "cured" yourself already.

Most of you may already know this from the recent influx of information, but we can also turn into a swarm of bats as seen in the preview. And we can transform to the Man-Bat Vampire Lord at will and return at will.

How excited are you? Are you getting everything you want? I know I am lol

Yes! Vampire gameplay is now better than ever! I can't believe I didn't read this earlier!

"The vampires can grant players vampiric bonuses and give you blood potions, which heal and count as feedings."

You need to get a PC that can run skyrim sometime in your life lol, you would truly get your ultimate vampire/werewolf experience. Not to downplay the DLC by any means but the mods just add the frosting on the cake lol.

I think it'd be pretty lame to go "Oh yeah, all that lore we established up until this point was made up by vampires to deceive their prey." If they were going to do that, the least they could have done was offer some conflicting reports and stories that contradict what the vampires have said.
How is it "oh yeah?" Oh yeah assumes they go back and change something. Its an absolute already established fact the information on Volkihar vampires comes from an in-game book Immortal Blood whose author was a vampire who'd have every reason to lie and mislead people.

I know the author is a vampire, but I think it's a cheap move to retcon lore by saying "They lied," so Bethesda can change the rules. While it makes sense that a vampire would lie, I wouldn't like it if they did that.

Also, the author is of the Cyrodiilic variety. If he is part of the Order, it'd make sense for him to tell the hunter the truth, since that would make it easier for the humans to destroy their competition, making their job all the easier.

For confirmation, one of the bigger vampire lord creatures is actually a gargoyle which are located in Soul Cairn I believe. So looks like everything is true!! :)

I have been around the web, searching, prowling. I came across secrets of the Dawnguard DLC. Secretive secrets that few eyes have beheld. I will release some of these concealed information by using spoiler tags.

Spoiler

-There will be new dragons to fight that will be tougher for the player.

-There will be a Lycanthropy tree with new powers, including the "Totem of the Moon" which shall allow werewolves to summon up other fellow werewolves. There is one called "Savage feeding" and "Animal vigor".

-The vampire Lord is named Harkon.

-They are the Volkihar. His castle is named Castle Volkihar, which also can serve as a home for the player. As well as Castle Dawnguard.

-Harkon attempts to put an end to the sun using the ancient Elder Scrolls.

-We shall make a return to the "Soul Cairn", a realm of the dead seen in Battlespire.

-There will be a new vampiric power where you suspend a foe in the air and drain them(seen in the trailer).

-The Vampire Lord transformation is gained by completing quests, as the companions.

-There will be a new facial transformation feature to modify your face. Race change is not in the game, but players shall now be able to change their appearance.

-Dawnguard is NOT meant for low-level players.

-New enemies such as Armored trolls, death hounds and legendary dragons.

Read this carefully guys. Think about what's been said, and think about the things we've been asking for. If you spend time on the forum you'll see the similarities. Bethesda is actually listening to us.

The "not for low level players" part is intriguing as well. Seems like they're trying to add a challenge, a throwback to the morrowond expansions maybe? I remember getting the GOTY edition a few years ago and trying to get through bloodmoon before I was even mid level...it did not end well haha but it's nice to see that Skyrim may be finding a medium between accessibility and challenge

How do you know he's of the Cyrodiilic varitey? because he claims it he is? Absolute fact, in Daggerfall they had three vampire clans, all of them could hide there nature and live secretly among humanity. How do you know its a retcon it could have been intended as a possible lie to begin with. If you were a Volkihar vampire you'd have every reason to lie about your clans abilities make people believe that only the Cyrodiilic strain could hide its nature and the best way to do that, claim your a member of a different clan.

Even Matt Carafano said this. The character facial change was a fan-requested feature. Bethesda truly loves their fans.

The Vampire Lord is said to be a "paragon" of the species. So, there is some dark secret vampire occult stuff that was hidden away.

whoa stop hold the phone,

I'm gone for a few hours to watch tv and something major happens

I won't ask for links as that is against forum rules but can someone tell me what happened?

magazine leak? talkative reporter? speculation? untrustworthy sources?

I can find out the specific information myself... but how did this stuff get out? was it a leak or on purpose?

Leaks from Game Informer. Pretty easy to find the scans actually. Go into the Game Informer thread to get you pointed in the right direction.
