New patch is arriving soon for all platforms! Confirmed

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 7:24 pm

Think shadows and the UI are the two biggest ones on the PC, shadows cause they cause alot of performance issues due to how they have been done and the UI cause it's just annoying not being able to click on stuff. Also when new drivers are released they should help with performance and stability hopefully.

Other then that quest fixes etc which will likely be for all platforms.

They need to add different camera views for the 360...for the pc ive seen that you could change the field of view, i wish the 360 had that option.

I don't care about any other problems besides the glitches with the weapon racks and placing items around houses.
yeah the books on my book shelf just dissapear. Also whenever i go into my house everything is thrown around on the ground. i dont get it. Also some random npc keeps entering my house. Can you be robbed in this game? Should i kill him? or was it just a bug?

When do you guys think they might announce this patch? I'm really hoping its sometime this week. But on the other hand, I'd wait longer if they guaranteed to fix the weapon rack and placing items glitches.
Weird, I haven't run into any problems with weapon racks, bookshelves, placing items in houses, etc.

Just fix the damn save file - lag issue and I'll be happy. I can deal with the other stuff.
Are you referring to the pause that happens when saving games? After many days of playing that started occurring to me. I went into the save folder and realized I had over 1 gig of save games present. I removed most of them and the problem understandably went away.

Nope the FPS and stuttering issues when playing caused by Beth's porting skills for PS3.

Why would you call that a "save file - lag issue" ?

Because it's due to the save file being abnormally large on PS3.

You're getting that too? I thought it was just my imagination. I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed.

It slowly sneaks up to you, pokes you in your side and mentions some nasty things about your mother.

On topic, as I'm a PC player I mostly hope the crappy shadow rendering get's taken care of.

I LOL'ed. This is certainly one of the 'fun bugs'.

Working as intended. As in, it's been in all their games. :P Oblivion had it, Fallout 3 had it. Skyrim has it.

I hope it fixes the flubber physics. I think rogue cauldrons flying at 300mph have killed my mage more than enemies have.

I just made muscles from laughing at that

I'm really looking forward to them fixing the textures because I want to install this game to my HD (though some have said that the textures are still [censored] without installing to HD). My xbox sounds like a NASCAR stock car when it is running this game uninstalled.

But then Skyrim would be boring if I wasn't randomly killed by poltergeist!

OT: From what I understand is that they're working on various bugs on various platforms. I certainly hope they provide some sort of bug fix list and known issues when they do put it out.

Nothing bothers me more then a developer saying:

Dev: "Hey we fixed your game for you!"
Me: "Soooo... what exactly did you fix?"
Dev: "Oh a few things here and there. It's not important, whats important is that it's working again!"
Me: :banghead:

Think shadows and the UI are the two biggest ones on the PC

i really really hope they fix the PC shadows - i've tweaked and tweaked and while they're still annoying, everything's "livable" except for my house... inside everywhere else it's blocky, but inside my house i have horrible moire-type shadows over everything, and even those are pixelated! :P and i think i've spent as much time changing .ini values as i have playing...

i haven't noticed broken quests (yet), but those are pretty darned inexcusable. and the PC UI would benefit from a ton of work that should have been done BEFORE release. for one thing, i would like to be able to activate say, a cooking pot without a pixel hunt. it's not that small. /sigh

kinda makes me miss the old days when patching was impossible/difficult, so software was (mostly) finished on release. as a consumer, i don't have a lot of patience with the "oh, we'll just fix (aka finish) it in a patch" attitude. and i find PR veep pete hines' "http://www.computerandvideogames.com/326186/skyrim-patch-inbound-for-all-platforms/." comment very patronizing and un-empathetic. gee, now it's OUR fault we want to enjoy a game rather than being frustrated by its faults and broken pieces? thanks for caring, gamesas.

I'm not seeing Pete use the word 'soon' anywhere.

I'm guessing it'll be a week at the very least.

@DCDeacon Hi Pete. Quick question with regards to the patch. Will it address the small text issues for consoles that occur on Standard TV's?

For me I would be happy if they fix the graphics lock ups. I hate how every 4 mins my screen locks up or has a spasm and then locks up. I can't play the game to the fullest. It svcks trying to sneak (or something along the lines), have it lock up then have to alt tab (to fix it), come back and find out I was spotted 30 seconds ago and I am getting beaten to death with a weapon. The only reason I was able to complete the game was because of my Heavy Armor, 2H and 500 HP. If I tried to complete the game as a Rogue class I wouldn't of made it. Or I would of been frustrated enough to uninstall.

I'm not expecting balancing in the first patch, but it needs to eventually be done for destruction magic and illusion so they can scale past level 40.

Not very promising eh? Here's hoping they put out a list of fixes when it does come. :whistling:
