Bethesda games were never meant to be challanging.

It's all about the immersion and the adventure :P

Turn the difficulty up then, that's what the difficulty settings are there for.

Um.

Are you complaining because we no longer have to stand in one spot in the wilderness jumping up and down and fireballing trees to even start the game? Because that was annoying. Yay, I just started the game, let me play it- NOPE, gotta go kill 75 mudcrabs to level my sword up to 6 first... >.>

What may be a "joke" to you may be "Wall Grindingly Impossible" for others (I've heard a lot of people say "Dark Souls is a cakewalk")

How many times have you retrieved the Orb of Zot? Amulet of Yendor? Are you "The Guy"?

You just solved your problem, there was no need to post a thread about it.

Yes there is. He is saving people from wasting their time playing on normal for a while then switching to hard. They can now just go to hard out of the gate knowing that easy is too easy.

After the first dozen or so hours, Dark Souls does get quite a bit easier.

The post quality in this forum has met a sharp downfall these last few hours, think its time to bust out a "farewell thread" :violin:

That's the way normal difficulty usually is and also why they include difficulty sliders. There will probably be overhaul mods released that make the game more difficult sooner or later too like there was for Oblivion and Fallout 3.

I'll probably start with some of the higher difficulties, like someone stated earlier immersion is a big part of this game... I'm not immersed when I have 4 bandits stabbing me with swords and all I have to do is take my sweet time and kill em of one by one.
This has become more and more one of my problems with bethesda, I don't like how they're handling difficulty in their games. Oblivion had crappy scaling and fallout 3 was pretty much god mode from start, you had to handicap yourself and play on very hard to make the game challenging. And even then it was only at the lower levels, the enclave soldiers still failed in a more humiliating way than the stormtroopers from star wars.

Though i'm not all pessimistic, the scaling seems good and from what I know there are still things that pack a punch in the starting areas like mammoths and giants... But the bandits really need to go get some weapon training, it's just sad right now.

Exactly like I expected. Of course normal difficulty is for the average joe, not for an experienced gamer.
