Just imagine...
You have baked a BEAUTIFUL and DELICIOUS cake that your friends can taste on friday... you wake up on thrusday to find your friends sharing the cake with everyone and eating it up.. they leave some crumbles and a little piece of the cake left.. the next day one of your friends show up and grabs the last piece... wouldn't be THAT fun would it?

Except that there are plenty of copies of Skyrim and they can always print more....

Not seeing that as a very logaical rreason.

Now that I see this thread I will for sure go and look for a game tomorrow. I live in Eindhoven in the Netherlands, if anyone knows a store that sells them already let me know! To bad the Mediamarkt is just closed for 13 minutes..

I got my copy (CE edition) in Utrecht, but from what I've heard it's Gamemania that's mostly breaking the release date.

has blown the release date out of the water, what are we supposed to do here in the US considering that for the next 2 days we will be flooded with streams, spoilers, and tons of various other media from those who got the game early? I know the default response will be "don't use the internet" but yeah..no that's not going to happen for the next 3 days...Should Bethesda drop the 11/11 release date now and just allow the rest of the vendors who followed the rules to go ahead and ship? What do you guys think?

Nobody is getting the game before 11/11/11 unless its reviewers/leaked versions. so well.. best thing to do is avoid spoilers or even go dark 1 day before release.

As for the US stuff, not all games comes from US!!! shops stock at tuesdays in US / Fridays in EU (friday in EU to avoid people dropping school/work for game/music/movie releases)

You are right that the normal way to do it is, "if released/made in US" they release the game on tuesday for the NA region and the next Friday for EU (if its an eu made game is out in EU friday and US the next tuesday, sometimes even weeks postponeed)

But, the new trend is to release it global! (I can give you a ton of examples) so the game will get digital released at a tuesday or friday! (most often friday actually)

As for shops breaking the street date! its illegal and they should get punished if you ask me, luckily its only consoles version! (see steam can be very handy) so well, all pc players still have to wait :D

Its in regard to the PC Version!!!!

Sure some retailers break the street date on console games, sadly... nothing you can do about it.. (other than report shops that do it)
But as I said, who cares about it, if some people get to play the xbox version 2 days before... but well, maybe its because I only care about the PC version and spoilers are easy to avoid!

Hey guys, Here's an interesting question. WHY is the release date so strictly enforced? you'd think that the faster and the more you could sell the better?
Because any other policy would be unfair. This topic is an excellent example of people's reactions to the fact that someone gets the game before they do - and we're talking about a difference of only a couple of days. By establishing one release date for all stores the company ensures that everyone has an equal chance of enjoying their product. Without it, you could find yourself in a situation when one stores starts selling weeks before another - hardly what customers want, is it?

Game Mania is selling them, the one past the PSV stadium. Don't bother getting the PC version though, [censored] Steamworks BS will stop you from playing.

You really did a terrible job reading the rest of the thread where people in Europe have openly admitted to buying the game today and are playing right now...

No I just think it is general ignorance. Bad schooling means certain people don't realise there are other countrys other than the USA who all have their own diverse and unique cultures.

What are you talking about? The release date is 11.11.11, you're not getting the game earlier unless you're a reviewer. But if you live in Europe, then a global release date is ALWAYS 1/4 day earlier than in the US.

/thread

All with many others, I get mine on the 10th at 9pm according the Steams release clock. Also a confirmation from PH.
