It's Oblivion 2. That's all it is.

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 11:12 am

It;'s a biit early for me to judge but I feel like I am playing a game that is four years old?!

It's just Oblivion 2. Combat is no better and the animations are pathetic for 2011.

I will srill enjoy the game no doubt but I had hoped for a step up from Oblivion.

Keep playing. I felt this same way until I got more combat related perks and more shouts and magic. You'll see.

Disagreed. It should feel similar it's the same series, would you really want a totally different game? Turn based or something? Anime graphics? Hit combos and numbers flying around the screen?

Yes I agree except it's worse in Many areas to oblivion. If it doesn't improve with patches or DLC I will after a while just go back to oblivion.

It is a step up from Oblivion. It's a step up from Oblivion in every way, you'd have to be blind not to notice that.

I actually think it's better than Morrowind so far.

Agreed. To be honest I felt Bethesda borrowed far more from Forza Motorsport while making Skyrim. Sometimes I actually get mixed up as to whether I'm playing Skyrim or Forza.

Morrowind is a little bit like Daggerfall.
Oblivion is a little bit like Morrowind.
Skyrim is a little bit like Morrowind (Lore, Culture, Conflicts), Oblivion (Engine, Combat) and Daggerfall (Semi-Random and Semi-Finite Content)

Well, here's a fact, MW3 is MW2, BF3 is BFBC2 2, ACB is AC2, Fallout 3 is Fallout New Vegas. Because they're "sequels"
Oh and animations are top notch, dunno what you're talking about
And out of those games, skyrim is the most improved.

The only thing that's bothering me so far: I still find it hard to tell if I am hitting an enemy sometimes... Your target doesn't always recoil from a blow and your weapon seems to suffer no resistance upon impact... Just a little issue really, but it was around when Oblivion was made too... At least this time the physics for things on shelves and tables is less explosive.

It's a whole lot like Morrowind and Oblivion... but the differences are in the details. You've still got the "join this faction and do their quests" along with "follow the main story by doing the quests" and 100s of side quests that just have you clear out basemants and whatnot. Character development is still based on what you do, not what you want to be able to do later... pretty much the same there. Combat and magic are somewhat different, and the skills are distrubuted slightly differently. But the core of game play is pretty much the same.

I personally love skyrim. Truth is i played oblivion as my first ever elser scrolls, and all i did was the main quest. I never thought there was more, but boy was i wrong. I got skyrim as a preorder special with the physical map and i love thos game. Heck i gave up mw3 for it and bf3. Ive always been an fps player, alongside playin wow. But elder scrolls os just amazing.

Seriously.

I have seen many complaints on these forums.... most of them idiotic. Skyrim is just 1000x better than Oblivion ever was. Better everything.

Anyone who doesn't like Skyrim should throw their PC/Console out the window right now.

Too bad most 2011 games svck. I don't know what planet you are living on, because its nothing like oblivion. And why are you on the Skyrim forums if you don't like the game.

I agree its oblivion, but that not a bad thing imo. Even with the streamlinng and dumbing down of the game, it is improved in so many ways that really matter. Despite the drab color scheme and the bugged shadows, the game looks much better aesthetically than Oblivion. Both in style, and to a much lesser degree in technical details. But as Blizzard has proved time and time again, style is probably the most important part of graphicial beauty.

The game does feel a bit like a total conversion mod for Oblivion - like a "Nehrim 2" maybe. Not that it's a bad thing, but the game does feel a bit dated for 2011.
