Only 3 places to build svckS if its true.

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 12:18 pm

That brings the DLC down so much...

I can see how building anywhere would be problematic, but if it is only 3 places you can build then that really is a bummer, not even one in each hold? Oh well, I guess the building of the house is the main draw of this DLC, not the choosing of where the house will be.

Well I don't think we know for sure but if it is true it's a bit disappointing.

I'm assuming they had to take a number of factors into consideration, like terrain and neighboring dangers.

Also, it seems like they chose the 3 holds where you can't already have a home.

Im not sure about only 3 places to build, but you are aloud to build more than one house, the offical descriptions states that you can build more than one house and start an estate empire...

Yeah, fortunatly one of the top place's i'd like to have a house in is Falkreath, but unfortunatly my top one would be Whiterun hold...

Ok, seriously.

For $5, this is a metric crap-ton of content.

Well, at lest you have a choice of those three places. You can't choose your house in any of the cities.

I already plan on a house in Hjaalmarch , hopefully Solitude themed or something more civilized.

Amen, I just hope these three holds have some nice looking spots. I love the reach, but it's not an option, and I'm guess neither will Khajiit children be an option...

Thats where I am thinking I will build. I kind of always like morthal, as bleak as it may be. I love all the deathbells, swamp fungal pods, and cannis roots that dot the landscape as well. I just like the misty salt marshes and the general feel of that area.

You can definitely buy all 3 have they said something about starting a real estate empire or something to that tune.

Im wondering if the 3 places are confirmed if they are just the 3 places that were shown in the video...

You can build up to three homes (Gstaff said that on the blog).

I'm hoping you can build on various plots of land throughout the holds, even if you're limited to one home per hold, but I think it's more likely that they'll take a "One-Size Fits All" approach to your home as far as where you can build.

A necromancer who wants to be left alone? You'll build right here!
A trader who has regular contact with people? You'll build in the exact same spot!

Never mind if you're character would be likely to build in a secluded area or right in the town. You get that one plot in Falkreath, and nothing else.

I really hope that isn't the case, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Better start tempering your expectations, because it's looking like those three locations are it. Fortunately for me, I love both the Nordic architectural style and the three locations provided (especially Falkreath).

What I love in the Hjaalmarch spot is that it overlooks Solitude and most of Haafingar Hold.
Most probably I'll end up living in Markarth. :P

Please try to remember that if they tried to allow custom tailoring of multiple areas of each hold, they'd have to find and alter multiple spaces to allow for a home to be built there. It's involved enough for them to designate one specific cell for this. To create many potential cells in each hold would be far more involved than is necessary.

Also, much like in the real world, you can't actually build a house anywhere.

Their game, their rules. At any rate building anywhere wouldn't be problematic, it would be impossible. Think about all the incoming buildings and landscape mods, modders will have to make sure their structures won't collide with Hearthfire's. Allowing players to build anywhere would mean the end of just about any buildings and landscape mods even before they are born. My bet is no more than 3 different places.

For $5? Three locations to build in? Sounds good to me.

If they were charging $20 on the other hand, then I'd expect to be able to build anywhere I wanted, including underwater. But that's not the case. It's only a $5 DLC. So...

It would be cool if they let you edit the interior of current homes/residences, like even the abandoned shack or other places with safe containers that you can take over as to make up for only having 3 plots of land. Of course this isn't going to happen, but it would be cool.
