It isn't the whole world, but if you look at the trends in games that are coming out and are out, the part that really wants open world free for all pvp is really small and I am part of that group.

so why wouldn't you support this then. i know it is not big amount but it is big enough to get players in the content.
Because I don't think it is big enough audience to warrant the time to put into it. Also because I accept that nearly everything I want in pvp is found in Cyrodill. If I want what is missing, I'll go play Darkfall or some other similar game.
yet it would be a way that would please every sort of group. but that's probably the only good argument against this.
The devs still have to do the programming to allow it, whether it is a check box in character creation, a flag like the samurai wore on their back, a giant balloon over the head, or a flashing emergency vehicle lightbar on top of the character's backpack it still requires programming.
Not really. It would please the group that is interested in it. It wouldn't do much for the groups that don't want it or don't care because pvp isn't why they are interested in the game.
I know this forum isn't the whole world. It is mostly the people who are interested enough to actually look for information. There are going to be a lot more who make the choice of playing or not without using the forums.
yes it would require programming, that is not hard to understand. but i think it wouldn't require as much as people here might think.
yes it would please the group that wants it, and there are people who are interested about this game becouse pvp, that group might give it a a shot. i am interested about everything in this game.
To me, ESO will have open world pvp.
Open world pvp does not mean that pvp happens anywhere in the world.
Open world pvp means that the pvp map is an "open world".
Even In games with "open world pvp", there may be areas where pvp is not allowed, such as spawn areas and main city/base/homeland.
In Mortal Online (open world RPG pvp), pvp can occur anywhere except that city guards may kill you if you commit a crime. Hence, very little pvp in towns and cities.
Planetside 2 (open world shooter pvp) does not allow pvp in home bases or in spawn rooms.
I don't think ESO needs pvp in every village, city, home, and dungeon in Tamriel.
One very large pvp map (Cyrodiil) is sufficient to be an "open world".
apterous, I think the idea in your first post has some merit.
For people who absolutely detest pvp, perhaps they could be labeled as a diplomat or non-combatant while in Cyrodiil.
However, I also think there should be serious consequences to turning off pvp.
i know those games. my idea does include safe zones in cities and small camps.
what come to turning off pvp in cyrodiil, i find it as a bad idea becouse some players would then just farm rare resources and materials with little effort. if the consequences are set right, then maybe it could work.
I know that it isn't a new class, hence why I put it in quotes. You still never answered my questions either: Why would someone want this if the vast majority of people could just turn it off? and How would anybody differentiate between someone who wants PvP and someone who doesn't?
No because I hate pvp. Keep it out of pve areas.
to let everybody play the way they want. this one group just got left out and wants back in. some poeple just like the thrill that they could attack anyone or be attacked by anyone any time anywhere. i did state somewhere earlier in this thread that the identifier could be sort of a title type of thing. something visible, whatever would work best on it.
so you didn't read the thread or failed to understand its meaning. you are safe, no one is gonna come to kill you. they can't. it's impossible.
1. Nope, not true at all, I like PVP, HATE your idea as it does not fit into this game,
2. Never happen as it breaks lore
so bandits, thieves and murderers are all happily joining together to fight off evil. yeah makes sense.
The PC is not a normal Thief/Murderer, the story has him/her as part of the army for the alliance who lost his/her soul, that is part of the games story, nothing you can do to change that even if he/she does choose to join the thieves guild or DB.
yet you can shape the personality of that character as you wish. as in every other elder scrolls game. that is called roleplaying. this is sort of a roleplaying game series.
Yup, does not change the backstory though, you are part of the Alliances army working together to win the war and stopping Molag Bal.
yes, and? is someone forcing you be at cyrodiil defending all the time?
also you think you character didn't have life before he lost his soul?
No, but it means your character would not kill anyone else in the army. I.E your idea does not work because killing someone in your alliance/Free for all is not part of the game design.
you think you character didn't have life or personality before he lost his soul?
now i'm sure you do think this way.
???
I am just pointing out that your idea does not fit with the way ZOS wanted to design the game. I am sorry if you do not like the way they are going, then you do not have to play the game.
i've said this hundred times and i'll say again i like how the game is coming along and i'll play it anyways, this is just to spice things up for me, nothing more.
if you didn't understand what i meant with characters having personalities and that having impact on their actions let me clear that up: a coldblooded murderer is not gonna give a [censored] about ongoing war, he will propably go there to get his share of killing but that doesn't stop him from doing what the [censored] ever he pleases.
But the game is designed that you cannot play like that. sorry, but that is the way the game is being designed. You can Roleplay all you like, it will not change the game mechanics and the way ZOS wanted the game to go.
and that is exactly why i want it to change, i wouldn't have thought of this solution or made this thread if this wasn't being the case
Devs don't typically change something that would probably detract from a main or even major design goal. That goes double for games this far along in the dev cycle.
