1.4 patch expectations?

Post » Sun May 20, 2012 11:52 pm

They didn't lie as of yet indeed.
But I do understand where the anger is coming from and to be honest I think the ''guys'' at bethesda know this too. (talking about the game team, not the money making scrubs)
And I do agree that the Team @ Bethesda could keep the community informed more, just get the community involved and show that your actually listening to them.
They could have done this by for example: release early version patch notes, (aka incomplete lists) atleast that way people will actually SEE that the problems are being worked on.

But some of this rage at purely the people who created skyrim should stop, if your gonna rage, point it towards the big boss of them all, he's the one who decided this game was gonna be released on 11/11/11
For all you know the designers said to him the game wasn't finished yet, do you really think that the money making scrub gives 2 [censored] about the state of the game or how many bugs it contains?

TL:DR Message for Bethesda: In those fancy PR talks you always claim to be close to the community and communicate with them, well setting up a forum and just reading ''bug posts'' IS NOT COMMUNICATING!
For communication words need to come from both sides, in other words: Talk to us bethesda!!!

Update is coming this month (final date tba). Once we have the finalized notes on what this latest update covers, we'll share details.

You are right, I totally haven't read all seven pages, I start at the end every time, hoping to find the latest on 1.4.

This response makes it even more obvious that getting meaningful information out to the folks who are interested in it is not a priority for Bugthesda. And no follow up 2 weeks later.

Is a newbie who just got their game really expected to come on here and sort through 4 pages of post just to find out that one liner that offers nothing in terms of answers?

So, the latest news posted on the Bugthesda Forums from a reliable source regarding 1.4, is "Update is coming this month (final date tba)."

Since that simple question generated a reply before, let's try again 2 weeks later:

When are they releasing this?

And again it's proven that for some peopel, nothing will ever be good enough. Thank you for proving every point that I have ever brought up.

Peace out, calm down, and do something else. I personally, am going to go play Skyrim and have a blast at it.

Damn, I thought you'd taken your ball and gone home by now....

All we are asking for is some information on how things are going. Nobody in their right mind wants them to release more untested patches. But telling us two weeks ago that we would have to wait til the end of the month would have been considered a nice gesture. Instead we have gotten vague tweets and one liners implying that a lot of work is still to be done.

Did the thought ever occur to you that the lag time is due to them testing said patches over and over so that they don't have the same embarassment as 1.2?

The time frame for gettin 1.4 in january is gettin skinny... 1.3 took 2 weeks to certify.

If we dont get it in the next two weeks the worlds gonna blow up.

Here's how it's going. They are working on it. What else would you need to know? They said January. It's still January. Tomorrow will be, you guessed it, January. It will be out in January. Let them work on it. Unless, as Uriel Nocturne pointed out, you want another 1.2. Why didn't they give us a specific date? Because of impatient people. If they said the 19th and it didn't show up till the 20th, good talos, THEN you'd be flaming the sh!t out of these forums, wouldn't you.

Most likely response will be that 'they' dont want it rushed they want more info and communication.

So lets see....Bugthesda put up 3 pinned stickies in November, 3 more in December (including one titled "What we're working on") and, so far, none in January. Ever since acknowledging that the PS3 can get to state where it is "severely" taxing the system, they have not posted another pinned sticky.

Are their customers really not worth of some kind of update about when they might be able to play this game without severely taxing their system?

Is there really no time or information to post in a "What we are working on, 2nd edition"? After bragging to the press before release about how they are going to be doing great things with updating, even going so far as to say some updates could be active in just a few hours, we shouldn't be surprised that this update has taken so long?

Correct. What, did they post something like "that of which you wonder is almost done"?

How many times have they posted a thank you? Any "we really appreciate your patience"? Can't post a sticky from a smart phone?

Expectations are that if they had anything significant to say, it would be here. Instead, just "January, date to be announced."

they would say the exact same thing here on updating for status of patch 1.4, doesnt matter if its here, on their blog or twitter, the info is the same, that they are working on it still and still are trying for a Jan release. They have 13 days left in Jan. You act as if its Feb already.

Since it was not posted by Bethesda and was not labled as a source of information regarding 1.4, I don't know why you have the expectation that there will be information. You put what you want out of the patch, maybe read some other people's. Just about every open world game has major glitches. If it really bothers you that games this massive are not perfect when they come out, then tone down your expectations or go back to playing Pac-Man or some other game that is near impossible to glitch. I am irritated by the glitches too, but they have been a very gracious company comparatively to any other gaming company, and if you expect an update every 2 minutes then go through a 12 step program or something, it is not the end of the world. Jesus, basically just keep your panties on and expect the update later this month. If it aint done yet, then irritation is at least justified.

You don't need to stick up for them after every comment someone makes regarding them and the patch.

I hope they fix the Markarth Guard glitch. I'd like to get back in that city without getting attacked all the time.

Thats not a glitch, you just have a high bounty lol

Im just hoping the freezing stops. Havent played skyrim for a month, its been torture. One things for sure though, i will never buy another beth game day one. No matter the hype or excitement, i will wait maybe 3-6 months after release. That way i will have a working game and it wont be launch price.
