No Patch for the English version in Germany

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 9:29 am

Now, here's the thing:

I live in Germany and I own the English version of Skyrim. I downloaded the German Dawnguard version (which in itself is very unfortunate, but since there's no legal way around it, I just played along).
Now we all know that the French, Italian, Spanish and German Dawnguard versions didn't work properly. Bethesda released a patch, but sadly, the download doesn't seem to start for the English Skyrim version.
So I'm stuck with a broken DLC, which I paid 20 Euros for, and there's absolutely NO way to do anything about it?! My only option is buying Skyrim a second time in German... No need telling you THAT won't happen.

I know Microsoft will tell you there's no way to get a refund. But seriously? If I buy any product that doesn't work anywhere else, they will give you a refund. And this shouldn't be different with digital content. Bethesda has an obligation to provide us with a working product. They didn't.

This needs to end now. Provide us with a working Patch (and this time, all of us) or grant us a refund!

I think there is no one who will help you/us here. They'll be saying you should only buy stuff that's compatible with your account/the Marketplace for the country you live in.

Olarion, we CAN'T download the English dawnguard version in Germany.
What you're "explaining" to us is actually just repeating the problems we mentioned. Before you post anything else, please get your facts right... Your comment's aren't really helping us right now.

Works fine with any other game from any other publisher I've encountered so far. I always buy my XBox games from the UK, because the german versions are usually of inferior quality (sub-par translations, poor voice acting, etc.). When I download DLC for my english version of Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham City, etc. the DLC is usually automatically in english. Not so with Skyrim, and no, that was NOT known beforehand.

So there are TWO versions of Dawnguard in your Marketplace now? An english and a spanish version? And you can choose which one you want to buy?

Wow - I'd love to have that here as well. I think I'd even double-dip and buy again if I'd have that choice.

True. I talked with MS customer support and we are trying to solve that issue ^^. When it worked, I will let you all know. For now, got to download the DLC again, for free of course. ^^ Hope to find a solution so we'd be able to enjoy Dawnguard too.

This has always been the case with Bethesda games. If you import then you have to make an account from the country of purchase. Anyone with PSN can go look at the DLC for Fallout 3 and NV and you will see that it states that the DLC is only compatible with BLES-XXXXXXX. Most games don't have this restriction, a very few do. I don't know why...I assume it's to do with MSs anol data limit regulation for things on XBL. Their games are generally very dialog heavy and they probably don't want to waste the data space including multi language support.

Manuela: Herzlich Willkommen beim Microsoft Xbox Kundensupport.
Manuela: Die englischsprachige PEGI-Version?
Manuela: Das Add-On ist in deutscher Sprache?
Manuela: Immer wieder gern.

Sooo basically what we can try is to rent or borrow a german copy and then see if the Patch downloads, otherwise we're kinda screwed. :(

Just 2 sentences to keep in mind :

So I guess this basically also means we're not going to get a download option for the english version of Dawnguard. Great.

I'm sharing this thread with folks at our office, but the English version of Skyrim is not intended for use with the German Dawnguard download.

I got an e-mail from Bethesda customer support saying it's Microsoft's problem and I should talk to them .....

That's what I would recommend. If I have more information, I'll let you know.
