PATCH 2.03 IS OUT - 94MB

Post » Mon May 21, 2012 11:49 pm

Any word on the Battle for Fort Sungard glitch where no men to meet, and no enemies in castle?

I haven't started the civil war questline, but would appreciate if you guys could let me know if I should completely avoid it until a next patch...

Actually, might be worth making a thread listing quests to avoid until patch 1.5...

I've been playing for about 20 minutes with the new patch. I immediately noticed the framerate was MILES better than before. The sound was a bit crackly but I saved and reset and it seemed to fix it. My save file size also went down from about 8.3 to 8mb.
Only negative effect I've had is that whenever I'm lockpicking, when I break a lockpick the game quits the lockpicking mode. As the position of the lock changes when you quit this has made picking expert locks EXTREMELY hard, and master locks are pretty much impossible.

A simple question everyone; the Orcish Shield is a lot greener than the whole Orcish set. It doesn't match in the least bit. I can't remember if it's always been that way, or if it's changed thanks to the patch.

Always been this way, and I've always hated it.

Travelling on a horse still lags with large framedrops when sprinting...
I AIso had an odd event where I fast travelled to Solitude & 6 dragons drop from the sky into the main courtyard & then I receive a dragon soul from each of them. Maybe this has to do with not receiving dragon souls from dragons that I'd killed previously throughout the game?
Apart from that I've had no other issues thus far, fingers crossed!

Great news... and I'm especially interested in the apparent change to lockpicking. Can anybody else confirm encountering this? I actually hope it's a feature -- lockpicking is insanely difficult IRL, and I think this would better reflect that. ;)

I've sprinted on Shadowmere till he couldn't anymore and I had no issue with the framerate.

That could be. I was in a cave when I installed the patch and the first thing that came up after restarting is that I can place 13 more books on my bookshelf (despite not being close to any of my homes).

Has anyone turned autosave back on? Do you think it will be ok?

The lockpick issue seems to have sorted itself out now, although it could vary from area to area. I'll let you know if it happens again!

I went ahead and turned it on (autosave). Assumed that if there still was a problem with it they'd remove the feature. Would like some official reply on that one, though.

Other than that, even though I hadn't really suffered lag before, I clearly see an overall performance boost. Even without insane lag and though it was on an "acceptable" level, sometimes the game would stutter a bit in cities. Spent ten minutes sprinting back and forth Whiterun gate and dragonsreach with it being buttery smooth. a Dragon Battle was also pretty stable, and in fact the dragon actually seemed to move faster.

Also having the tutorials popping back up, but so far, colour me cautiously optimistic.

It was a nightmare saving every 10 minutes, I'm gonna turn it back on and just hope for the best. Play it like it was meant to be played and not worry

If it were meant to be played only using autosaves then there wouldn't be a manual save option to begin with. I don't trust or rely completely on autosaves in any game that allows me to manually save.

I'm just sick and tired of looking at the save file and seeing how much it has increased by. With autosave back on I need not worry because the patch has fixed it.

I've been at it for 4 hours straight and the perfomance side of the game is miles better so far. Still occasional fps drops in high detailed surroundings but these too seems quite a bit better. The stutter is pretty much gone. I got none of it sprinting through whiterun. The most important thing for me is that performance doesnt degrade while im playing. It was smooth at the start and smooth at the end(lots and lots of fast-travelling, 4 quests incl liberation of falkreath and a couple of dungeons + discovering riften). So far, love it. No freezes either.

PS: Game was acting really erratic right after patching it. People teleporting across the room, guards not doing their rounds. Guess that's the scripts resetting.1st char

Edit: 1st char: 9 mb save file, 2nd char: 12 mb save file

I've started getting some lag again now, just under 4 hours after downloading the patch. Not as bad as it was, but presumably it'll progressively get worse :(

Same happened to me after a few hours play, but only when travelling on horses. Also noticed that most of my arrows have disappeared, I had over 300 Ebony, 300 Eleven, 200 Deadric, 300 glass & been left with about 20 or so of each, no real problem just quite annoying though...
