save file: 13mb+
hours: 105+

got in game in winterhold after patch, in the middle of a snowstorm, and the snow fell without lag :) so i got on my horsey and rode out of town. game froze 1 sec because the snow dissapeared, and again for 0.5 secs when i got attacked by a bear.. fasttraveled to whiterun.. trying to sprint trough the town.. it still stutters a bit but very mildly, id say the patch helps :) usually if i get ingame with this savefile i get lag from the start i start this game. dont know how it will be over 2 hours but im happy with this. good job beth. will keep u guys updated how it goes after 2 hours lol

That's better than nothing... but at it the end is lazy coding :(

no lag for me now, just fast travelled to whiterun ferociously rotated my camera and decided to rampage and kill everyone all without lag, the decapitation bug seems to be fixed now on a side note.

btw this is coming from someone who had to stop playing because it was just not possible at all. 1-8 fps

I've been to Whiterun, tried waving swords and spells about, done a werewolf rampage too, and it all seems okay. Thing is, this is still a fairly small file so it's hard to tell if there's been a change lag wise. So yeah, people with bigger files that were previously messed up please keep us updated!

It's great that the lag issues seem to fixed or alleviated. I got the game for the PS3 and haven't been able to play it due to a YLOD, and was going to determine whether to purchase a new PS3 based on whether the lag issues would remain after the patch.

Can anyone confirm whether the texture quality is lower as someone earlier suggested?

College of Winterhold quest - Revealing the unseen is still bugging. Cannot be continued, because you can't loot the key for the main door in Mzulft.

If this patch actually does fix the lag, then Bethesda better come out and gives us full details of the problem, along with a public apology.

Are you new to gaming? Patches happen all the time. They don't owe you an apology or anything else.

Well this means I can finally start playing the game I pre-ordered months ago! Wish they'd have patched quest bugs too, but oh well, will have to hope they don't affect me or that they too get patched soon...

Hey guys , glad to hear that things seem improved, but someone said about lowering texture quality to achieve this, is this true? Have the other people noticed such a change in texture quality?

I am still at work so I cant test it yet :(

At lensoftruth.com it looks the Xbox version actually has sharper picture, although the shadows are worse.

Have you not been following this lag issue for the last 2+ weeks? This is probably one of the biggest blunders in gaming history, and biggest publicized issue Bethesda has ever had to deal with, it doesn't matter if patches happen all the time. I, and many others think it's fair they apologize for such a huge blunder, and for causing fans of the series who own PS3 copies so much frustration and headaches. That is of course if the patch does fix it, if not I suggest Bethesda start recalling the game immediately.

It's a large update just for a few code changes, seems likely they may well have changed a few visuals as well.

I doubt very much that they lowered the quality of textures though, that's really not a smart move considering how badly treat the PS3 users already feel.

Exactly! The 360 version has sharper textures due to not having FXAA enable by default. They had the tradicional Multisampling antialiasing (MSAA) which ps3 will never had because it is very gpu heavy!

What the hell is an apology supposed to do? That sounds kind of pointless.

i cant see bethesda doing that!

Noob-ish question, I'm installing the game for the first time now and it's downloading the 2.1 update, so does that mean the 2nd update also includes everything that was in the 1st? I would have thought it would download both updates....(because I'm a noob sometimes)

seriously for those playing right now, tell us if all of you notice any image quality changes (lower textures etc)

I mean I love that they removed the stuttering and the lag issues (at least by the sounds of it) but if they sacrificed textures and image quality....eh.... i dont know....
