PATCH IS OUT !

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 7:24 pm

seriously for those playing right now, tell us if all of you notice any image quality changes (lower textures etc)

I mean I love that they removed the stuttering and the lag issues (at least by the sounds of it) but if they sacrificed textures and image quality....eh.... i dont know....

Especially after hearing/seeing that the PS3 version already had the worst overall graphical quality out of the 3 versions before the patch, it's not very inviting if the graphical quality got even worse. :(

doomjazz, that's fine. The first patch is included.

Thanks.

Hey, maybe you should do a second Youtube clip post-patch for comparison. Plus people just want to hear your voice.

I didn't notice any changes texture/graphics wise, but then again I was only playing for five minutes.

Yeah, especially hearing/seeing that the PS3 version already had the worst overall graphical quality out of the 3 versions before the patch. It's not very inviting if the graphical quality got even worse. :(

If the quality of the textures is inferior, They manage to go completely the other way around of what many people said here on the forum that they rather prefer seeing FXAA and V sync disable (which would increase perfomance) and seeing some jaggies but at least we got a clear, sharp tecture quality!
If they lowered the textures models they clearly choose the easy way, lazy way

they wont apologize!

that would mean they are taking responsibility for their mistakes

i cant see bethesda doing that!

I agree they won't, but it would be nice if they did, even an "oops our bad." would be good. I've seen the poor attitudes from a few Bethesda people, and those attitudes alone tells me they won't acknowledge this issue anymore, if the patch really has fixed the problem.

So glad to see the patch is out so quickly. Thats great great news! My savegame just hit 8.8Mb and it was starting to become an issue, not gamebreaking, but it was getting irritating, those whose games were close to breaking must be so relieved.

I find it a little distasteful that the patch fixes things, and people still complain. Spoilt child syndrome.

Thanks Bethseda, I don't know what the issue was, and you will probably never tell me, it was probably your fault, and you should have realised before it. I don't care. Thankyou for prioritising this fix over, and getting the job done.

Don't have time to install it right now but honestly I don't give a rat's *** about textures as long as the games runs smoothly. Playability is more important than pretty textures.

Playability is important but if you dont have a product that perfoms graphically on par with the other console version does, they should ask less on the retail price of the ps3 version!
And the problems shouldn't be solved by lowering the already blurry visuals. Thats my opinion

Just tested it... i dont notice any texture lowering at all, graphics look the same. My lag only happened after like 3 hours of continuous gameplay so have to try it later. Good to know ppl that had problems from the beginning are now seeing the game improved.

Most important, can I use weapon racks and shields in my houses now? And will my mannequin stay visible?

I've had the Whiterun house and the riften house, and in both I"ve been unable to put weapons in a rack (or on a mount on the wall in riften) and the mannequin, where I placed my thief armor on, was most of time invisible when I entered the house.

easy way is usually a fastest way as well and I believe we can all agree that they were under a bit of pressure here to get it sorted asap, lads seriously just relax a bit give them 2-3 months and most of issues will be sorted this is the biggest game I've ever seen there is no way to test it to its limits as we players are simply unpredictable ;) always looking for shortcuts and doing things your own way, I know I'm responsible for at least half of my quest bugs myself by not doing them in the right order and just leaving them half way finished, give them some time to fix all that and keep reporting bugs as often as they occur so they can see the problem and its scale and start working on it.

p.s. my save is 14mb my character is level 78 and my ps3 is one of first models with 60gb hdd trust me I know all about lag in skyrim ;) just man up and reset every hour ;) beside it looks sorted now,

oh and when it comes to graphics quality I can see no difference but it would be nice to switch off some options manually to increase performance

I only have house in solitude my weapon racks always worked, but the 5 slot weapon wrack only holds 2 weapons, the wall weapons wracks always worked too, the mannequins stayed invisible and still stay, they havent touched in that.

What should they apologize for? Of course they knew about that issue before releasing the game, but what would you have had them do? Delay the PS3 release by a month (They would never have delayed the whole release...they had to hit 11.11.11)? You would all have whined just as much as you did now, that Bethesda hates us PS3 users and doesn't care about our platform...mentioning the issue beforehand would not have done anything either. You would all still have bought the game. Maybe you would have blamed yourself more than you did now, but anyone who enjoyed Oblivion, Fallout 3 or New Vegas has no reason to complain about his issue. These games where far worse and you still bought Skyrim, fully aware that Bethesda games tend to not be the most stable...also, the lagging wasn't nearly as severe as people make it...I played a 16MB file and had a ton of fun...yes, it lagged after a couple of hours, but simply quitting the game to XMB and starting it again solved the issue and I could again play for hours without serious lags.

I still am glad that the put out a patch that fast, but when anyone owes an apology to somebody, than it would be you whiners...

I don't want an apology for a game that I had more fun with (140 hours and counting) than with all other games I bought this year combined, even in its buggy state.

Didn't notice any difference after installing the patch since I am a SSD user and I have no lag after installation of SSD.
Is it the time to plug my SSD into my PC and return old PS3 HDD back because lags are gone?

I Downloaded the patch.

but my questline is still bugged.
I have to speak to Maven in riften but the quest is not starting.
So now i cannot continue the thieves questline.

Apparantly its because ive visited/broken in to a meadery earlier on and now the scripts think the quest is already done.

So now i have to start over and go nowhere and do nothing i do not have a quest for already ?
If everytime i step outside the lines it's going to cause something gamestopping i might as well go and play uncharted 3 or something.

I think im going to start over on the PC, at least there you can fix the broken questlines with the console.
My PS3 just seems to gather more and more dust lately.

Hit the nail on the head. I'm playing it now and can't notice any difference in graphics/textures but then like the poster above graphics are not high on my want list. I never had any quest bug problems so can't comment on those. To me it's just like playing the game as I did in the first few days before my save file got too big.

over 100 hours played and 13mb file and it runs smooth as a freshly started game. Here's hoping it lasts.

Also ps3 gets it first thing on a monday morning and 360 users still have to wait. There was me thinking ps3 user were meant to be scum of the earth.

Thanks Bethesda!!!

I loaded it up after the patch and my save file has gone from 7514 KB to 6699 KB. Dunno if this is anything important but it's the first time my save has shrunk.

Edit: odd I just did a quest and it dropped again to 6712 KB O.o It seems to be shrinking or I gotta put the bong down...

I'm guessing the patch hasn't hit any US PS3 systems yet?

I'm playing at the moment, but it didn't automatically download anything when I booted up the game a few minutes ago.
