PCPS3 Release Date Thread part 17

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 2:29 pm

All the whiners will buy it - anyone who says otherwise is lying - even all the people in the poll topic saying no will actually buy it

Why are those people in the dawnguard forums?
Duh!!! - because they want to buy dawnguard!

If they did not want it - then why be here - to vent(lmao) - if you don't have better things to do than vent about something you claim you won't buy - those people need real help and dawnguard or any game will not fix the issues they need help with - room with padded walls
yes i whant to buy it but believe me if i havent heared a date in a week im not putting any effort into it any longer and that wil eventually mean i probably wont but it. because my cashflow isnt unlimited and i wil have to make choices and like evry thing dawnguard wil get old news and les intresting than new games. so im sure i wont be buying it if there is nothing about it within a week.

I just can't help but see the double standard in this:

- console company buys game rights/dev house outright, completely denying other gamers the chance to play a game period. Gamers shrug their shoulders.

- console company buys temporary rights to a piece of DLC. World ends.

I'm more bothered by missing out on complete titles. Yet I don't let it ruin my life, I have plenty of others to choose from.

Ferarri Garage, you walk by it wishing you could have one but full well know it will never happen and don't feel that put out. Platform exclusive.
Ford/Honda/Whatever Garage, you walk by and they say you can't get the car you want for 30 days as your postcode don't fit. Time delayed DLC.

Yeah, despite the threats of boycotting, the fact is, if Bethesda thought that they would lose money or sales with this exclusivity deal, they wouldn't take it. The people making these decisions at Bethesda are very likely to have their graduate degrees in Business and Marketing, and they have all sorts of data and metrics that prove people will still buy content even if it is temporarily exclusive.

https://twitter.com/DCDeacon Whoa so wait make this clear because I'm really confused, was dawnguard cancelled or we will just have to wait a little more?

Hines - https://twitter.com/riverplate775 Nothing has been said/announced about it. We should have info later this week.

Invalid simile is invalid: you are restricted from buying a Ferrari by sheer price. Last I checked, platform exclusives cost the same as regular releases.

Nice find Stormwatcher, we now officially know info will be coming later this week. My guess is, expect it to come at the end of the week, probably Thursday or Friday.

thats also what sega was thinking with the bad marketing of the dreamcast. but they are also people and they make mistakes thats what killed the dreamcast and it can also happen to the elder scrolls serie. but i just think they are thinking bad publisety is still publisety. but in this times of crissis bad publisety is whats making people buy a other game that has good publisety because they cant affort to take the risk

Yup, best case scenario is that the 1.7 patch will be released next week, and DG will be released shortly after. I think PSN updates its patches and content on Wednesday, so that might be when DG launches.

I would be more inclined to believe this if the people complaining about Dawnguard weren't behaving like video-game addicted junkies, desperate to buy their fix.

I admit it i am a gaming adicted junky thats why i cant wait for dawnguard and have to buy a other game if they dont hurry up. i get really obsessive playing games until the point it gets boring and then buy a extention for it, play a other game i own or buy new game.
so if i cant buy the extention if i get bored and i own no other game i like to play i will have to buy a new game if i whant to have fun playing.
so my reasons for saying that there is a verry big chance, i dont say there is no chance but it is most likely, that i dont buy it if i dont hear something from them soon are completely logical.

The fact that we have 17 threads about this argument proves that the majority will still buy dawnguard for pc and ps3 when it will be out on their platforms - even someone that try to convince himself and a forum of the contrary perhaps

I can understand the rage and frustration about the lack of communication but look this way :
the purpose of an exclusivity is try to sell more consoles and in the meantime - why not - to harm the rival
this is a timed exclusive,it means that there are obscure parts of a contract of which we don't know nothing - apart from the 30 days and blah blah...

Last, the purpose of a timed exclusive is explained here; they're aware of the addiction that these videogames could have on some players and are sure that you will buy however their product at the end

My guess ? When 1 month is passed from the 360 figs version we could have some real info about the pc/ps3 dawnguard release - during the august gamescom or early perhaps

But i find scaring a reaction like this about a game release date frankly when in the world we have still people dyin' for the lack of drinkable water and food

I'm more inclined to believe, patch next week or the week after that and then Dawnguard to release 2-3 weeks after the patch. After all Sony still has to certify the patch and since there's been no hint of news of Bethesda giving Sony the patch.. could be another month or so.

What a complete joke of a PR guy he is! Seriously!

Nobody here knows anything about PR. He is only allowed to say what he is told to, which at this point isn't very much.

Well, it's unlikely that they would have made an announcement on the weekend, so today onwards more likely.

At first anger was my response, then I was just sad about the delay, now I'm just disappointed. Disappointed that Peter Hines and the decision makers could have easily avoided most of the rage element expressed in these posts. There would still have been those screaming unfair, Xbox gets it first, but that's just the eliteism mentality of a lot of console owners, Sony and Xbox owners included.

The PR statements for this expansion were ambitious from the start, and even after the raging here they still remain so. The 30 day exclusive statement inferred that the other platforms would receive the expansion directly after the time period had expired, my decision to refrain from purchasing Dawnguard was based on the statement made by Gstaff on the 26th July after the 30 day expiration, I was expecting some kind of date to be announced, as I'm sure everyone else was, but no he just posted what Peter Hines had earlier stated.

In my opinion all they had to do was state at the beginning that the Xbox version was being released first and at a later, undetermined date the other platforms would receive it. Even if the case now is some technical issue which is postponing the release, wouldn't it just be simpler to admit it? Rather than the song and dance they are leading every one on.

I was looking forward to Dawnguard, but because of the way they've handled this situation I'm not going to bother, and it looks like I'll not be purchasing the next DLC either as it will more than likely be handled in the same incompetent way.
