Playing from Disc or HDD (360)

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 1:02 am

Ok so a lot of ppl are reporting that playing the game from disc results in a LOT better textures (but longer load times) and when installed to HDD textures stream a lot slower and look washed out (but load times are faster)...
Is this true and if yes is there a patch coming out on day 1 to fix this?

load times aren't THAT fast. I'll play from the disc, like I always have.

That sounds...odd to me. I would think installing would produce the better textures. I mean...yeah, that makes no sense. You have a link with screens for that?

I'm hearing the same. Apparently the game is having issues running while installed on 360.

Installing the game on the HDD will make load times faster and textures will be better

Not installing it and just playing from the disc will be worse

Same thing with BF3, Xbox users have the option to install it, the install makes textures better

Honestly, I don't even think it'll be a noticable difference between the two options.

Atleast not noticable for me. I have my PC for running Skyrim on Ultra, and my xbox for when I'm at the girls house.

I only install my games so my xbox is quiet and i don't care much if textures are lower, as long as they are not dramatically different.

my god you must be dumb buddy Bethesda already announced at pax 2011 that it would run ALOT better while installed to the 360 HDD

just like being installed on a PC or a PS3 it works alot better

now you don't have to speculate

this thread should be closed for fear mongering !!!!!!!

Same thing with BF3, Xbox users have the option to install it, the install makes textures better
Not the same thing with BF3.
BF3 has an optional install for the normal textures and without it, it loads low res textures from the DVD.
That's not the case with Skyrim. There is no optional texture install or anything like that. Just the normal install feature of the Xbox360 itself.

Installing games on the HDD doesn't change quality of the textures. Just helps with texture streaming and loading times.
But apparently there is a bug, which causes streaming errors if you install Skyrim to the HDD on the 360 so it looks worse than playing from the DVD.
Probably fixed with the day 1 patch.

Some shops sell the game earlier that's why some are already playing the full version.
