Pony Effect Thread #63

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 12:01 pm

This isn't new. It's one of the most currently used tropes in sci fi, that they ALL have to end with some philosophical musing or something. It's currently a cliche in my book. After enough authors give it a break it might one day be fresh, but right now? It's as cliche as you get. They LITERALLY made a deus ex machina. A god from the machine for the ending. Not to say they're stories are bad, but it's about making old things entertaining. There's only like 7 stories in existence, we just repeat them in different variations for all of time.

Well, apparently I'm just hard to please because I'm restarting my game for the umptenth time. I don't really know a whole lot what I'm doing and I feel like I'm blazing through things too fast and without enough exploration, but I find it hard from a RP perspective to find an appropreate time to do side quests when the main quest is so important. Aside from that, I also find that I use the same party mates over and over again and the others just kinda sit there. Anyone else run into these issues?

Also, any tips for a beginer? I've began running out of space for things recently and am not sure whats worth keeping or turning into goo.

That to me is without a doubt the best weapon in the game, for one, you got a gun with no ammo limit, a beam that gets stronger as you fire, and you can add a scope to it for sniping. Really you could go through the whole game with just that rifle

Honestly I loved using the Avenger myself, that I used it through the whole game.

Decent damage and capacity and burst shots and your good to go.

I have problems switching squad mates too, I always have a Krogan on my squad and usually Garrus or (depending in my class) tali/liarra

I always keep my LI (almost always Liara) or one ol' buddy (Garrus/Tali) along with someone I deem fitting for the mission (like taking Miranda for Cerberus missions, Javik for Prothean-related missions etc.)

First game it was always Wrex and either Ashley or Garrus. Second game it was always Miranda and Mordin, always. Third game Garrus and EDI and when I got her Tali (better abilities). I wasn't very partial to much of the squad mates in Mass Effect 3.

I almost never used Mordin for some reason. I always kind of forgot about him. I preferred Garrus and Samara.

I didn't for a while, until I remembered how lethal he was around the time I first met him. I like Mordin, he's cheerful.

For Mass Effect 1, I always had Garrus in my party and the 2nd character was usually Ashley or Wrex. Garrus was useful for opening up the chests, man why did they have to cut those in Mass Effect 2.

For Mass Effect 2 I had Miranda in my party 99% of the time and I usually went with Grunt as my 2nd character although lately I've been using Garrus as my 2nd character.

For Mass Effect 3 it's Garrus and mostly Liara/Ashley (If it's a paragon Fem Shep then it'll be Kaiden). I don't mind James but EDI and Tali are terrible.

First game it was always Garrus and Kaidan - hence it wasn't easy to choose Ashleys death. :shifty:
Second it was generally Garrus and Kasumi
Third it was Garrus and Kaidan

I'm so predictable....

Yeah, I see the pattern: you like people with "K" in their name. :hehe:

I usually dragged Liara along for the ride with one of the more heavy-weapons oriented types: Ash, Garrus or Wrex, generally. In ME2 and ME3 it was more general, a biotic or tech and a soldier.

I really liked the Liara/Garrus combo in ME1 and ME3. It was a good soldier/bionic/tech combo. In ME2 I used mostly Garrus/Tali.

Learned something new about ME1, in the final part you don't need to go trough the part with the turrets, there's a side passage with krogans. Sure they're dangerous too, but don't kill with one hit like the turrets.

No, its just an epic tankfest of "Are you shooting me?" on both sides until finally one of them forgets to use immunity and dies after an hour of shooting.

Pass couple of games in ME I have Ashley on my side. I'm play a male Shepard at the moment I want to romance with Ashley. Pass four games in ME I leave Liara to last after Virmire. The reaction she had after finding out that Shepard knows more about the Protheans pass seven days then she did after 100 years of study them is priceless. Then I have her with me with the rest of the quests including the fight in the Citadel and some other. Looks like Ashley with this one.

ME2: Well that depends what character I have. At the finial battle with the reaper I have Tali and Legion with me because of their drones.
ME3: Mostly Javik with some other.

How much war assets do you get for promoting a multiplayer character?

That's it? What's the point of promoting?

Oh and Grissom Academy on Insanity makes me

For the people who want to start from scratch I guess. I've thought about it a few times; it can get boring playing with a maxed out character all the time.

And the rest of Grissom isn't too hard, it's just the atrium where you have Guardians, Engineers, and Centurions on all sides with no way to keep from getting flanked. You know it's bad when an Atlas is the LEAST threatening thing on the battlefield.

And the fact that Garrus keeps trying to hug guardians and turrets for some inexplicable reason isn't helping either.

Well, if everybody else is.

ME1: A combination of Garrus, Ash, Wrex and Liara. Romanced Liara.
ME2: Thane and Mordin, for the most part. Romanced Tali.
ME3: I switched around a lot more, but the most common combination was Liara and Garrus. Romanced Tali.

When it comes to party members, I largely went with the following:

ME2: anyone but Miranda and Jacob.

ME3: Javik, with settings set to random for the second person. (except I almost never picked Vega)
