My Problem with Werewolves.

Hircine's freaking Hunting Grounds. It already has a cool geography to it. African-type savannah, a huge forest, canyons and bloody tributaries, a single moon that is silver and a red sun. Oh and did I mention big ass canyons!
That would be really cool. I wonder about the moon, aren't there two like on Nirn? If I recall correctly, the quest: Ill met by moonlight, we went into that cave and it kind or morphed into a section or aspect of the Hunting Grounds (thats how I saw it) and there were two moons. Are Hircine's actual Hunting Grounds different because it always seemed to me that moons of Nirn more more or less important or Hircine made them so.

Am I the only person in this world that wasn't disappointed by werewolves in Skyrim?

I'm not entirely disappointed by Skyrim's werewolves. They've got lethal claws and are good for placing distance between you and your enemy. The major downside is: werewolves have no armor rating whatsoever, so if they aren't doing constant power leaps on higher leveled enemies, they will get killed in no time. Also, the Werewolf powers (Howl of the Pack) is super weak, as the wolf spirits you summon can get dispatched in one hit, regardless of difficulty level. I think there needs to be stronger Totem abilities. Detect Life, really? How is that ever going to be useful in combat?? Howl of Rage is only good until lv.25ish- once you're past that level, the "shout" becomes obsolete...making you one squishy puppy.

Hopefully the Werebeast Perk-Tree seen in the Jam video will be featured in an update or DLC to eliminate this problem.

It might. There is a perk called "Toughened Hide" in the Lycanthrope perk tree. It's obvious that the werewolf armor will be improved.

Just like in the Thieves Guild, it feels stupid that you had to
Spoiler
sell your soul to Nocturnal to become a Nightingale. Especially in an RP respective, if you are a Nord, not going to Sovngarde and protecting the Twilight Sepulcher in the afterlife isn't a particularly pleasing idea.
lol I played that quest line through as a Khajit so I didn't have that moral hangup, but it was still really dumb because that Karliah ho was basically volunteering me for some crap that I did *not* want :/
Spoiler
I have to bind myself to nocturnal forever? k how about asking me first [censored] but oh great, now I'm pretty much gonna have to because Nocturnal is watching me right now and I'm basically in her house. Awkward.

Also, it was dumb that your advancement in the companions was basically predicated upon being a wolf like others have been saying. I didn't find the werewolf thing that cool, I didn't play morrowind or the old school games or anything, but it basically felt like it was just thrown in there to go along with vampires and get that twilight crowd in on things.

No, just no. It's like saying people loved the Main Quest because they are Dungeons and Dragons fans, or they liked Camelot or something. Werewolves and vampires have been around before Twilight, centuries before Twilight. Elder Scrolls had werewolves and vampires before the books were even written or even thought of. Twilight has NOTHING to do with it.

Personally, I think dragons and other stuff is boring, but it doesn't mean I'll try it out, and it doesn't mean I am a die hard Twilight fan because I love werewolves or vampires. People need to understand that not everything with vampirism or Lycanthropy has to do with Twilight.

That did make me mad that I had to give up my soul to Nocturnal, when I would rather go to Hircine's Hunting Grounds.

It also makes me mad that you are one of those people who think that just because werewolves and vampires are in a game it is to please the people who like Twilight. How many people that like Twilight do you really think is playing Skyrim, considering most of its fans are young teen girls? I don't think Twilight is bad because i have seen much worse movies, but it is not that great either. So don't come on the forums and start saying Bethesda put werewolves and vampires in the game just because of Twilight because they didn't they had them in the game way before Twilight ever came out.

eh I think you are being a little naive. I know vampires and werewolves predate Twilight obviously, but jusssst as obviously, The Twilight series was a huge hit recently, and ever since then there's been a flood of vampire and werewolf related stuff in TV shows, books, etc. So I don't think I'm totally off base when I assume that marketing had something to do with this, and I don't think you can confidently say that it didn't. Even though werewolves and vamps have been in TES games before, I have a hard time seeing werewolves popping up again after a break as a coincidence.

Omg lol

Look, it's my opinion alright? don't waste your time getting mad over it. The basis for my opinion is that vampires and werewolves are popular in general now because of Twilight and Underworld, and that might have been a factor in TES dev. team sticking them both in this game. Is that really so crazy an idea? Whether you think so or not I'm going to say what I want so deal.

I think it is possible, but unlikely because people liked werewolves in Morrowind and were upset when they were not added in Oblivion, I am pretty sure that they wanted to add werewolves in Oblivion but they did not have the time. So it does not surprise me that they added them in again because they didn't get to in Oblivion, and people really wanted them to return, but it was not because of Twilight. Having said that I think they did get their inspiration for the werewolves in Skyrim from the Underworld werewolves, not the Lycans, but the actual werewolves.

I agree but don't get it twisted. Yes, many Sparkly Vamp fans may be young females but nearly half of all gamers are also female and some of them are members here on the forums.

Vampires and Werewolves have been part of the Elder Scrolls long before those books were written just as WerewolfVampire stated. They have been consistant features from near the beginning and their inclusion in the latest iteration, Skyrim, has nothing to do with the popularity of the movies or books but their own popularity from previous games by loving fans.

Hold on, Aarontastic, you are suggesting that Bethesda included vampires in the series in 1994 and werecreatures in 1996 because of a book that was released in 2005?

Haha, yeah, that's pretty much what he said.
