Is it really that bad?

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 10:45 pm

I'm finding it fine (playing on PC with kb+m), I had a brief problem at the start largely because my keyboard was a bit knackered but I swapped it for my OH's keyboard (boy is he going to be cross at me in the morning!!! Although I don't like it quite as much as the old one) and it all worked fine. Sure like any new game it is taking me a bit of getting used to the controls and interface and it still feels a little clunky, but it's starting to become second-nature after 2 or 3 hours of play. I suspect those having major mouse problems are experiencing some sort of incompatibility issue (which will hopefully be sorted by a patch or new driver update), because it's by no means universal.

I am convinced you must have a mouse issue
Stop being a total troll. You've replied to multiple people who have the same issue with mouse control not working in the UI, telling them that they're wrong and that there is no issue. It's obviously you that is wrong as multiple people are saying mouse doesn't work in the menu for them, and neither does it work for me. Please, go play the game and stop trolling the forums.

If all of this crap about the game is true, this is a serious disappointment.

Never trust anyone's Day 1 opinion. Try it out yourself, or if you don't want to fork over the bucks without knowing it is worth it, give it a month for the Internet Hive Mind/Borg to come to an agreement. ;)

All the people who are enjoying the game aren't on the forums, only the people who don't like it, so don't jump to conclusions just yet bud.

Just putting my two cents in for the topic...
Ive had Skyrim for around.. 3 hours now, im liking it, hasnt yet gotten close to how much i love oblivion, but still plenty of time for it to catch up.
only bad thing so far.. is i cant read the writing on screen properly, but id say when i play around with the settings itll fix that up.
So basically, so far so good!

The only UI issues I found (the rest of the UI is fine for me) is that when you rebind keys it will affect things associated with those keys that aren't bindable.

Such as: When you rebind F for a different shortcut (such as making it sneak) in turn it will also unbind the ability to create a favorite in your inventory.

Other than that it's fine...just takes getting used to. It does have a bit of consoleitus though.

Forgot to post this:

Basically. What Bethesda lacks on putting in is customization for elements other than binding just because how even two PCs can be vastly different.

It doesn't quite matter to me though. "Old" RPGs I played were usually mainly mouse or joystick derived and even now I dislike the keyboard and like to use a 360 controller.

Hook it up to my HDTV. Suddenly I have everything console users do and then some more with better performance, marginally better graphics(Remember better graphics depends on the PC. I poured thousands into my rig and fine tuned it.), and even more.

Playing on the PC, maxed out everything with my gtx 580, getting a solid 45-60 fps (mainly because of my rather small screen i suspect but still..) And the only problem that i have encountered so far is the menus, but even them I have more or less gotten used to. I just feel like this is the best game I've played in a long time, it has it's imperfections sure, but we all knew it would. Just to put it in perspective for the people who have yet to start playing: THE GAME IS AWESOME! Play and enjoy, let the modders worry about making the game absolutely perfect for us! :)

I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way as me, only thing is they are playing, not writing in these forums.

The people who have complaints about the game come here and write about it. The vast majority (hopefully :P ) sit cut off from the rest of the world playing. It's probably not as bad as it seems, although it probably isn't perfect either.

In Stats its called Response Bias, my friend is playing it right now on PC and he is having no problems. Never forget the Silent Majority!
