Is it really that bad?

It has amazing reviews so far, so I wouldn't believe the forums if I were you.

Well it's true to be honest :(
There are a lot of problems regarding the UI and mouse + keyboard setup.
For starters you can't navigate the menu with the mouse.
Secondly the settings keep resetting to default values when you scroll down them using the keys.(why would i want 360 gamepad option on?)
Mouse Acceleration is enabled and has to be disable through an ini file.
Vertical Sync can't be disabled from the menu and has to be done within an ini
FOV is too low standard (like 60) and has to be set through an ini.
Mouse sensitivity is horrible. Looking from left to right I can do it in one motion, looking up or down takes 6 times as long.

So people are a bit overreacting, but a lot of these complaints are true unfortunatly

Wow sounds horriable :sadvaultboy:

I never had a single complaint about the UI on Borderlands. Never had a problem or gave it a single thought.

Encouraging.

Then you seem to be the part of the "base" that Bethesda is counting on...

Low standards crowd...

Borderlands PC version was a horridly done port...

Community had to make a triple digit paged thread of .ini tweaks... EDIT by "tweaks" don't infer I mean little changes, I mean crap that the company should have done.

Menu was a complete joke.

Sad there too because the gameplay barring any menu/options/graphics/customization/mouse oriented, standpoint was pretty good.

I'm seeing comments that its worst than Borderlands UI on PC. .. that could be hearsay though.

See, now... that reassures me.

Because, except for the font size issue where guns only showed 4 out of 5 lines of bonus text (which isn't even an issue on most guns), I didn't find any problems with Borderlands UI on PC.

The backlash was inevitable, especially given people's astronomical expectations.

It wont fill your empty soul, but it will probably be the best game you've played.

Play it for yourself. Everyone's going to blow it out of proportion for the next few days. If you were planning on buying it originally. Think of the reasons why, and buy it for those. The amount of credence people give to others reviews is crazy.

You're confusing "low standards" with "opinions that differ from mine." Just thought I'd help out a fellow PC gamer.

backlash yea, but having issues like this at release? I mean come on the PC version should atleast have been tweaked more to fit mouse and keyboard.

This was foretold back when Skyrim was announced, and I didn't think it would happen....

They have taken over...

There's always an initial wave of dissapointment as with any game. This game is truely amazing.

Before I come off as "that guy" that thinks none of these issues are issues, I'm going to say I agree with this. Bethesda did mess up. A fair amount. I just don't think it's THAT huge of a deal.

Seems like all the UI problems is on PC. Seeing as how everyone who has it on ps3 and 360 are nose deep in Skyrim with amazingness and epicness.

As an Elder Scrolls game, it's terrible. As its own game, it's brilliant.

Not much else to say. I'll still enjoy it for what it is. Things change, become more accessible, I wish they didn't have to but what you gonna do.

I'm mostly viewing the game as a modding platform. And let me tell you, I am very, very excited.

Also, regarding reviews - don't listen to them. Complete drivel. Listen to gamers, not some guy who's been paid an absurd amount of money to play a game for a couple of hours and then tell you wether you should buy it or not. Reviews mean absolutely nothing, this has been proven time and time again.

Better yet, play it for yourself and make your own mind up.

I think you can see "Not being able to play the game properly" as a big issue. Like I said it's unplayable for me at this moment. Unless I don't look up or down.

I'm on the 360 and loving it so far. Textures aren't great and appear a little blurry close up and there's a far amount of pop up, but neither detract from the experience. I've not encountered any glaringly obvious bugs in my 8 hours or so of gameplay.

Of course, I cannot speak for PC users.

Thank you, GAME, and thank your propensity to break release dates.

So you're telling me they are doing what most other are doing these days? I don't get why they can't take the extra few minutes (if it's just .ini work) or a few hours to get these in the config menu's. Why not make a good impression? Do they really have it in for PC users? That is all that I get from this silly neglect. Yeah I can take the 5 minutes to fix it myself, but for others they only get angry, why make people angry over this?

It would seem that the game has a ton of technical issues, and the PC has horrible UI/menu issues.

Horridly done port but apart from mouse and UI it was good? Moan moan moan...

Sorry but I never enountered a single problem with it. Mouse and UI was fine, as was everything else, port or not.

Maybe I was just lucky? Maybe I should check out those "tweaks" the game must be amazing with those.

Anyway if Skyrims Ui+mouse is better or at least the same, then I'm not anticipating any problems. But I'll give you this, if I do then I'll come here and cry like a baby about it. Ok?

Read the reviews.

Find one that complains about this supposed issue.

Come back here when you do.

I dont know what you are complaining about, honestly. The menu works great with the mouse and scroll-wheel, font sizes scale to the screen res so you can display your whole inventory. It was one of my greatest fears that the cool-looking menu would be totally unsuited to keyboard and mouse play, but I was very surprised at how well the same layout works on PC.

then it may be a mouse support issue, as a have a special mouse for gaming (Razer Naga) and it's not supported in the menu. Might try another mouse tomorrow to see if anything changes.

About reviews... I have read through many (not all) and all the ones I have seen reviewed the 360 version only. Therefore, issues with the UI not being well done for PC or issues such as keys not rebinding properly would not be reported in reviews. Also, even if they reviewed a PC version, issues like the key rebinding are not apparent if a controller is used on PC.

Obviously, this stuff should be tested as well as stated in reviews, but that's often not the case today, unfortunately.

Guys the reviews are all positive 10/10 or 9.5s for the most part. I think this isnt such a big issue

This. The reviews have been nothing short of fantastic. They mention a few glitches, but that's all. We (those of us who are still waiting for midnight) can't get wrapped up in all these nitpicker's comments.

Unfortunately, I can only speak for the 360 version though, as that was what the reviewers were playing.
